These breaks aired on WTVD-TV in the Triangle Region of North Carolina between June 25 and June 26 of 1984. The 1984-85 season would be its last as a CBS affiliate; it became an O&O of ABC on August 4, 1985.
09:15 - Notice the guy says, "with the Colonel's secret blend of herbs and spices", instead of "11 herbs and spices". After the Colonel sold KFC to Pepsico, they simplified the recipe to just salt, pepper, and MSG. He fought Pepsico, but it was too big, and insisted on doing things its own cheap way. Disgusted that Pepsico had wrecked KFC's reputation for quality, the Colonel moved to Canada, where the Canadian company (Scotts Chicken Villa) was happy to do things his way.
The program "Valley of the Dolls" was in 1981, but not the commercials. This particular airing was from around 1983-84 because of the CBS' "We've Got The Touch '83" campaign.
i've looked through the commercials and i think i saw something about 1982 but i couldn't find anything else because its soooo blurry. cannonball 2 released in 1984 so luckily i have the right year now. thanks for letting me know!
09:27 - Burl Ives was Sam the Snowman in "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer", and was Big Daddy in "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof". He was not only a great folk-singer, but a damn good actor.
It is required by nostalgic law that every kid who grew up in the New York media market during the 1980s and 1990s knew both the Milford Plaza and Mount Airy Lodge jingles. I love that kids in the Carolinas got to experience a little bit of our very New York childhoods!
Ban de Soleil came in SPF 2 to SPF 8. Why even bother using it? Brigitte Bardot's discoloured, leathery skin is the result of spending most of her younger years in pursuit of "the San Tropez tan".
You just don’t see commercials like this anymore…wish I could go back in time to my childhood.

He was in Roots also.

THIS WAS THE YEAR I GRADUATED HIGH SCHOOL. WHAT A WONDERFUL YEAR.
I graduated too in 84. It was a great time. Just remember "You never know what you had until it's
gone forever."

This is so cool, thanks so much 💯
32:42 - Al Waxman opening the door.
I love Jean Nate After Bath Splash commercials even in 1984 with actress Mary Louise Weller.
Dick Van Dyke for Hunt's Barbecue Sauce @ 10:45.
You ain’t so little. I think suitors would need a harpoon
Luzianne Tea (With The Legendary Burl Ives) 9:28
Raid Flea Killer 4:21-28:50
43 bucks a person for a hotel stay in ‘84. Too much.
Good afternoon
It's Loreal...but I'm not worth it!
Lisa Hartman in Valley of the Dolls. Great actress
I laugh a t Duracell commercial! Imagine if that toy rail rider drove into cow manure! LOL!
