  • When it comes to calculations, and ayanamsas, anyone taking this course is welcome to use whatever calculations they like most. I just want to be clear about what calculations I use, and I do feel that the techniques I am teaching work best with those calculations, but the student needs to test this out and see for themselves if this is true, and not take my word for it.
We know now that the Hindus used the tropical zodiac up until around 500 AD, and additionally that there are schools of Vedic Astrology that always used the tropical zodiac and still do, like the tajika jyotisha school. But nowadays it is common practice for the student to be told that the "sidereal zodiac" is the true zodiac, and that this is why Vedic astrology is superior. Thats not actually true, and is a major misnomer that we will have to explain in detail eventually. But for now this is just some basic information to give you a grasp of the "zodiac debate" that is going on currently in the modern Jyotish world. You are welcome to use either the sidereal zodiac or the tropical zodiac for reading charts in this course.
I do use the tropical zodiac for rashis, and the sidereal zodiac for nakshatras. But I used sidereal for the first 5 years or so. The techniques taught in this course will work best with the tropical zodiac, but will also still work pretty well with the sidereal zodiac, as a lot of things are still the same either way. This is not something you should really even try to understand in your first year of study, but at the same time I need to bring up the general idea and controversy because it causes a lot of students to be turned off from vedic astrology when they are wrongly told that they have to turn all their signs back one sign. You do not have to do that in this course. You can use the same calculations as western astrology, or you can use the sidereal if you have an ayanamsa that works well for you too.
Here is a simple article on the topic.

You do not by any means need to go deeper into this controversial topic at present. The above article will give you enough of an understanding to see why so many vedic astrologers have switched to tropical rashis while keeping nakshatras sidereal. If you want to go deeper, take the class below.
This first class here is about 3 hours long, but this was the initial class that caused the entire renassaince of Tropical Vedic Astrology that is now going on. So I leave it to you to listen to in full if you want the full story. This class is from Ernst Wilhelm, and is about 15 years old now.

When I got into financial astrology more deeply, a student introduced me to a financial vedic astrologer named Raj Chadha, who has a PhD in chemistry and has 108 published papers. It was a pleasure to learn that Raj also found in his own independent research that Vedic Astrology techniques work best with a tropical zodiac. He mentions a bit about it on his about me page here:

I really don't know the symbols of planets, thanks. So you have not started your travels yet eh? Where is the lovely water body behind your home? Such a crisp intro of basic signs!

Not yet! Very soon though! Thats also part of why I made this video, bc I had to buy an external camera for when I travel, bc the facetime camera on this mac broke earlier this year. So I wanted to test this one out, and as you can tell the audio and picture are not amazing, but it will do for now. And this lake is in my home in folly beach, or better known as charleston, South Carolina. Its a really healthy lake, so it attracts tons of wildlife which I love!

@@EyeOfTheVeda I guess the United States is blessed with such lovely landscapes with a lot of wildlife and fewer people. Yea there is a noticeable difference in video quality(Only to those who have watched your videos for quite some time) but the Audio is ok.

@@morningsun10 Yes one great thing about USA is we have lots of space, and more of an emphasis on personal space. Yet we still complain that everything is too crowded

We get very less of such personal space or space in general where I am.
