- I always wondered what it would be like owning or driving a STI instead of my Mk7 GTI. Well here I had the opportunity to drive and review a lightly modified 2019 Subaru WRX STI. Me too! 18 WRX for a 19 STI! Skip the wrx goto the sti. So many peeps try to justify their purchase of a WRX when deep down we all know the superior car.
+motion sickness oh yea I remember how the WRX felt when I drove it. The best way that I can explain how the STI felt was that it was definitely more..... complete than the WRX if that makes sense!
I mean its a 40hp difference with the price difference I don't think its worth it but ofc if I had the money for the sti I would of got it instead but would of been like 700$ payments lmao got my wrx to 300whp right now and its fun as fuck

@@meninism69 I did end up getting a 2021 STI back in march of 2021 and I just fell in love with it, I did a stage 1+ OTS tune using COBB AP, installed a COBB Cold Air Intake and Remark Axel Back and the sound it made was just amazing. Since the family grew I ended up selling it and getting a SUV but there's not a day that goes by that I don't miss that car.

Dont vta unless you're tuned for it. Reason the car was bogging when venting to atmosphere is because the car runs super lean for a split second. The failure of the ej is due to nodding without tuning. Slapping a down pipe and bov is a recipe for an engine failure.
It runs RICH when the bov vents because the car thinks there is air being vented back into the system when it's not so u have a rich condition for a second

Just traded my 2017 Ford Focus RS for 2019 STI limited. It rides better than the RS to me and I had KW coilovers in the RS that replaced Ford's suspension to improve the ride. I would love to put after market turbo back exhaust but new law in California would get ticketed for sure. I had TBE on 2012 STI hatchback and it was LOUD! Thanks for the great entertaining video review!
were you able to get a good pricing for the sti limited?im currently shopping around and only able to get out the door pricing at about 44k
@@mr86drift I went through Costco auto buying program. You get invoice price without any haggling. Not too many limited with lip spoiler around so had to wait about 4 weeks for it to show up since I wanted ice silver. If you belong to Costco you might check it out. I live in Huntington Beach and had to go to dealer in Hawthorne but everyone there treated me great.
@@doctorrobert60 ive tried costco auto,they couldnt get me the dark grey metallic that i wanted and theres hardly any sti limited 2019 around here now smh :\ i did get mines for 45 out the door though but im not sure if thats a good price for a sti limited...
+Robert Arutunian actually surprisingly this Exhaust System wasn’t that loud or raspy! It was more on the mildly louder and smooth sounding exhaust! Trust me I was shocked myself!
@@mr86drift I think it depends if the dealer works with you. They put my name on incoming car that was 4 weeks out. I used Costco when i bought my 2012 STI and Costco used different dealer. I ordered mine from factory how I wanted it and was invoice even options. Invoice may not be the cheapest but no stressful haggling. I think you did OK considering was 45K out the door which is probably invoice+tax and license.

What tune does he have ? It’s not an OTS is it? And with it just being a full turbo back does it go in to limp mode or does the new fuel pump give him enough fuel to air ratio? .
He has a proton from a local shop here in Long Island, NY called Vinny Ten Racing! He has no issues with the vehicle throwing itself into limp mode!

Yes 2018 plus Sti's have the RA block which includes reinforced pistons
The STI has gotten to expensive. It started out as a affordable ($31,000) high performance car for those who couldn't afford a BMW M car but now just like everything else greed and price has to soar (what is it like $45 grand now?) to ruin everything. I mean its a bad ass car but why am I forking out 45 g's for an STI when I can get a Audi rs 3 for that much? Totally ruined its niche.

Honestly no I wouldn't, my GTI in my opinion is a much all around better vehicle for me. But i wouldn't mind owning one in the future for the channel!

I had 2 mk6 GTI's, one stock then the manual i went apr stage 3 on and lord was it fun. Traded it for a mk6 golf R and unfortunately life took a shit turn and I lost it. I'm finally able to get back into the game i'm gonna get myself a 19' STI now that I can afford it. I live in the mountains of eastern KY they are really practical vehicles from here How do you like the mk7?

How does his speed limiter blinks and mine doesn’t? Mine is also a sti2019.
I believe that if you go in your settings in your gage cluster, you should be able to find a feature with that!
It's not a speed limiter it's a shift indicator that you can set to different RPMs. If anyone buys an STI brand new, I recommend setting it at 4000 RPM to give you a warning not to go over that until the break in period is over. After that set it to what you want.

I have a mk7.5 gti and feel the same way
The reason they kept the engine to be the same is because they want the drivers to know its history and the true subaru sti feels. Like the evo X, the evo X doesn't have the same engine as the previous generation and customers weren't happy and customers who drove it says that the evo X doesn't feel like an evo. And subaru doesn't want customer to feel that way

I've been wanting to trade my Civic Si for a Type R for awhile now but that car is way too expensive for me so I'm thinking of going for a Subaru WRX instead and I very well may get an STI. My dad and stepmom had a base model WRX and I loved it when I drove it. Ever since then, I've wanted to own a WRX myself and I honestly may do the trade. God these cars are nice.

Would you recommend trading in a 2017 410hp wrx for a 2019/2020 sti?
Honestly I you have a 410 whp WRX, then I'm sure that you have a lot of money invested in it. Most of the engine components I believe will not transfer over to the STI and also the amount of depreciation and negative equity that you will experience will not work in your favor. In my opinion, I believe that keeping your WRX would be the better choice from a financial standpoint

WRX base has an automatic option. I heard the STI's only come with a standard transmission.
