I've lived in Elkhart all 32 years of my life. Around the notorious G-field (Garfield Ave). It was especially bad in the 90s. Lots of break ins. Got my bike stolen right out from under me when I was 10. Not so bad now. Met Shawn Kemp. He was a cousin of my best friend growing up. Cool Elkhart video my man! 👍
I grew up on that side of town and it was not bad at all. The Washington Garden, formally known as the projects maybe. So when did it become the worse?
Just started this video. I grew up on Park Ave. and it was a great place to live. Now it is terrible. Maybe some places just east are bad but a lot of what I remember is that along Indiana Ave and around Benham was worse. Maybe things have changed though. I now live in Fort Wayne and we have some pretty bad areas. The last time I was back in Elkhart, I was amazed at how nice the downtown looks. And you can't beat the rivers and parks in Elkhart. Very few towns have a Christiana Creek.
Ha, ha, that's funny. You went right by our old house on Park Ave. Sixty years ago that was a nice neighborhood until LBJ started his Great Society. Then it started to run down and start on what it is today. When we were kids, we could ride our bikes anywhere in town (pretty much) and not be afraid of anything. Now kids can't do that. So sad.
The “poor” park of Elkhart look fine. Doesn’t look rundown or resemble a slum. Looks like a decent working class area. I would like to see a follow up video where the same route is followed but at night. In daylight there is no indication of criminal or gang activity.
Bon jour big huge! This is not too poor if you want to see what poor meams?, Just see justin beaber video "pray".About 4th july i want to say you what Abraham lincoln said: "i don't want to see anything not free!.i'm free and i hope you are.i blessed your food.
