  • We take a look at the new, revised 2022 Marin Bike Rift Zone Carbon 29 1.
Having ridden the previous year's Rift Zone Carbon, I'm a fan and think it is a bike that deserves more exposure in the mountain biking media world.
This Rift Zone Carbon 1 is the lowest price point version of the Carbon Rift Zone and is a well spec'd full suspension short travel trail mountain bike. Highlight features include the Shimano Drivetrain, Fox rear shock and Marzocchi suspension... of course this is in addition to a frame with great geometry that is capable of some pretty aggressive trail riding.

I don’t pop tubes with exo casing. I have the crossmark on a haro double peak made 1x wolf tooth for tapper dropper. Rear wheel won’t hold tubeless. But I’m glad there considered light there super tough

Is it 32.5 pounds with or without tubes? Thinking of getting one and replacing the wheels and tires for more of a downcountry bike

What is the weight savings compared to the aluminium frame?

It is minimal. Sorry I don't recall the exact difference but Marin seems much more concerned about building tough, rather than light frames.

@@BikeBrosBikeShop Yup, the main benefit of the Carbon Rift Zone is that its stiffer than the aluminum frame

The Rift Zone Carbon XR is about the same weight as the Alpine Trail XR which is alloy. I don’t get how they’re so close with the Alpine trail being a bigger bike

Can you add more travel to the front suspension? How much could it be increased?

140mm is the practical limit. Marin stocks the Rift Zone CXR with a 140

you probably don’t need more than 140mm of travel on the rift zone.. move up to the alpine trail instead

Jeez that is heavy for carbon

This is marked down to 2600 US right now, would be stupid to not spend 300 more over the rift zone 2 huh?

Sounds like a killer deal... the only argument for the newest alloy version is getting a bit more travel but the carbon Rift Zone is awesome

Bike is beautiful! But I don't understand why people buy carbon.

Valid point on these, given the minimal weight savings, however I feel the carbon frame is the stiffer of the two ( in a good way). I do have plans to do a high end build on an alloy frame next year feeling it is worthy and am interested to compare
