Shiv was a great poet who used to participate in the kavi-darbars and I am lucky that I myself heard him reciting a poem on shahidi purab of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji in gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib, Delhi about 50 years ago. I enjoy his poems sung by himself, very few of which are available on youtube. His famous lines are framed and displayed in a shop outside Darbar Sahib, Amritsar: - Assaan taan joban rutte marna, tur jaana assaan bhare bharaye, hijar tere di kar parkarma.
Baba Ji I have never heard about that he died in a car accident. I know this from my father, because they were class fellows at Batala, where they went to Patwari education school. He drank a lot of alcohol and later this was the reason he died at the village of his in laws. My father is still alive and I have just talked with him about Shiv Kumar Batalvi. Shiv Kumar Batalvi's father Pandit Krishan Gopal was "Ustad" of my father and Shiv ji. They learned about the job of Patwari. Shiv Kumar Batalwi didn't complete the education and went to Himachal Pradesh for Diplom Engg. eaducation...but did't complete it either. My father still lives at Gurdaspur and retired as Tehsildar some years back. My father still have some poems written by him on a notebook and signed by Shiv. But any how thanks many times to show us this place. You do a very great effort to show us all these things. Very great.

We all from India are very very thankfull to you for uploading this video . Till now we only use to read about Bara pind where legendary poet Shiv was born but now we feel lucky to see the house where he was born.
