- Sky News host Paul Murray reacts to Lidia Thorpe’s reading of the oath in parliament and how she “clearly” tries to mispronounce words.
“You have heard a lot of people talk about this,” Mr Murray said.
“I want to show you the full clip of how she tried to get around the oath.”
The fact that this behaviour from someone in office is acceptable demonstrates just how irrelevant the senate is.
Not just the senate. The other place, the public service ...
She needs to return her wages as she wasn’t sworn in correctly.

I agree, but our forefathers took this out of constitution. In the UK they do have the impost of fine of 500 pounds per day since the time of your swearing in and get ousted from Parliament. In Thomas Morse's case he was beheaded for not swearing allegiance to the king.

Paul, there is another clip where she states, disrespectfully, in regard to Her Majesty the Queen; "I was giving my allegiance to her hairs. Lidia Thorpe's disgraceful outburst of condemnation against the King demonstrates that she is unfit to serve in the Parliament. She has no allegiance to the monarch anyway, the nation of Australia or the people who elected her to represent them.
Apparently she also signed up a document agree to the oath as well which makes her 'mis speak' null and void as an argument.

Senator Thorpe had no intention of genuinely swearing allegiance to the Crown, before or after taking her seat in the Senate. In fact. she mocked the process. Any other interpretation is legal mumbo jumbo. She is an avowed sovereignist, at all times and continually asserting that the land was never ceded. This technical legal justification of her behaviour is designed to politically quarantine her from criticism or censure, and demonstrates why people are losing faith in the law, and in our institutions. No non indigenous person would get away with it.

I dont see how she can continue as a senator. She is either guilty of not taking the oath or guilty of taking the oath then not carrying out it's requirements. She cant argue one case without admitting the other.

In the NSW Public Service, there was a clause in your conditions of employment.
You could be dismissed for conduct unbecoming of a Public Servant. If you behaved in a fashion that was deemed contrary to expectations of your position, you could be let go. The same should apply to politicians.

When Lidia Thorpe was being sworn into the Senate the President of the House should of dismissed her because of the mockery Thorpe was displaying and told to come back when she was prepared to sworn in properly.

Can I sign the checkbox on a centrelink document that says I'm an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, so that I get some welfare benefits? No. If I do, and get caught, then I have to pay the falsely collected money back, now don't I? So the story, to be handed down by word of mouth, is that she lied when swearing the oath. The simple implication of such a thing is that everything she has ever said, or ever will speak, is a lie, forevermore, because she couldn't take it seriously, not even out of respect for what getting that far even meant. What a travesty.

but until the Oath is pronounced correctly as written (apart from a chronic speech impediment) the proceeding must be halted.
Mind you, if this was the case, dealing with that particular senator, they'd probably still be there.
