that's basically all of them. but if you had to pick a top 3 free : blender, sculptris, sculptgl/nomad on mobile, zbrush mini. paid: zbrush core / zbrush full. mudbox is good with maya or max, but development died some time ago.
Which one should i try , ? I have no experience or understand these asthetics that everyone looks for 😀 just would like to learn by playing by ear, i am an artist though 😃 id start with somthing for now but if i can somehow learn these things i wouldnt mind paying for software ...
Awesome jumping off point man!! Thanks alot for this intro to the various sculpting programs. Ill be giving sculptris a try and eventually move onto blender and possibly zbrush in the far future. Thanks again, and best wishes to you😊
I've been lucky and could afford a license for ZBrush, the full version, and IMO it stands above everything else with head and shoulders. It is a shame that you no longer get free updates now that Maxon took over; but the perpetual license is still available. Not to mention that version 2022 is truly crampacked with useful features . And the best part? Despite its complexity I can even use it on my budget laptop, one that can't even run Windows 11!
Which software would you suggest to make 3d jewelry and hardware for fashion (buckles, rings, chains, zipper pulls, sliders, metal logos, etc.)? Zbrush or Blender? I think zbrush is a bit more "organic" and complete but I'm afraid it will be a bit uncovenient for more "geometric" designs. What do you think? Thanks!
Late reaction but ZBrush can do all of this... it's actually quite good with hard surfaces. While the focus is indeed on sculpting it also provides a ZModeler brush which can apply modelling on any mesh. I find this extremely powerful because I can seemingly switch between ways of editing my mesh.
what about forger for the iPad? its not on this list but its super intuitive and with the ability to sculpt directly on the screen it is very powerful i beleive..
You missed very important tool -DAZ 3d. New file is always starting with rigged full body - male/female. It's riiged, so it's also good moment to pose itt nicely. Export that and then use proper sculpting software. 20 minutes of work for posed rigged body. I don't understand why blender don't start like that.
Both zbrush and mudbox surpass blender sculpting wise by a mile. It will be a long time before it catches up, especially with blender handling high poly counts much worse than any of those softwares you mentioned. You’d be better off starting with zbrush core mini as it’s free
Jasc Random I use it a lot, right now I have the latest update. There is a lot of good things I like in blender but a lot I don’t also. They seem to keep adding new features to make it a Swiss Army knife software when they should fix the basic things it is lacking. For example drag and drop importing, importing multiple files at once, and also the speed it imports large obj or other file types. Zbrush is lacking the first 2 things I said but it’s not a base 3d package and the importing mechanism makes sense for how it deals with models as it will update subdivisions
J M I understand that. I definitely agree with the performance issues, but to say that Mudbox is superior to blender’s sculpting tools is a bit of an insult. I used mudbox for years because I feared Zbrush’s terrible UI at the time but after learning both Zbrush and blender, Mudbox algorithms and sculpting tools seem terrible. Is like sculpting on melted chocolate sometimes
Zbrush has the worst interface ever used i tried many times to use that program since its powerful compare to blender but its such a huge mess that makes anyone confused how to even start and how even to learn, Blender for me gets 1st place cause lets be honest, free program that keeps getting better each update and its easy to use vs a paid program that is a huge mess of interface and which the developers didnt even care to upgrade their program over the years. Just a side note on Sculptris you better have a good pc with alot of ram or else it will keep crashing cause it consumes alot and the developers seem to not be able to fix that problem, but attention that program fixed and with some features could be a great program for new users to play around.
@Jorge Zombie sir have alot of time to spare jesus u really think anyone gonna read that huge text, just make it simple, Zbrush its easy if u learn the program but still is a mess and not everyone can get into that program they have to see shit tons of tutorials and learn how it works cause for a payed program its very messy and it can be fixed easily, Blender in the other hand its easy to learn and interfance its clean and free, so one has money and time but doesnt really do much and other its free and they always trying to improve. I used alot of 3d programs so far like Maya, Sculptris, Blender and so one and Zbrush was the only one that feels like it really requires to read the manual to even make a stroke on the program, Of course there is no Best software for 3d model but anyone can name one that they enjoyed their expirience and actually were able to do something on contrary of zbrush that most people give up. So far i managed to create quite a few 3d models on blender, they are not the best but i can say i fucking done a 3d model while in zbrush still fcking confuse on one of the worst Software Interface there is and the worst part is payed.
@Jorge Zombie I'm here for the video not to teach anyone or validate my opinion on people who i don't know. And definitely this conversation will not change the facts.
