As always, Thanks. Very thorough review. I definitely agree that Kizer needs to ramp it up with steels like Rex45, etc. I do have a couple of their small fixed blades in 3V, and both seem appropriate HRC-wise, but some other CPM steels ~~> not so much! Thanks again!

Kizer are killing it lately, I recently got a momo and I also have a mini sheepdog and gemini (red aluminium versions) and for the price Vs quality, they're hard to beat.
Chinese made knives are killing it lately, you can get knives at 40 quid with the same quality and fit and finish as a 400 quid knife. The quality, fit and finish and most importantly, the prices of Chinese knives are crazy. Civivi, kizer, Towson, bestech, cjrb you name it, all amazing companies that give you great knives are many different price points.
You can get the same knife in g10 and d20 for 30 quid in a premium titanium s35vn version with polished inlays etc. for 300. It's amazing the variety of choice. Spyderco produce great quality knives but cost an arm and a leg, oh and they do sprint runs. Chinese knife companies have the same if not better quality imo, with different locks, different materials that are always available and not once off sprint runs.
Believe it or not, my favorite budget steel is D2 if it's done right, it's so damn good for whittling, cutting, and it holds it for a while. Sadly so many companies run it too damn soft . I also love 14c28n and you can just keep honing it back

The taper of the plunge grind should completely terminate at or behind the top center of the choil cutout any time that a choil is used.

So I was already sad that both Crocodile variants had coated blades. Seeing the plunge issue is nails in the coffin on that. Love the thinner blades in Nitro-V though. I'll probably get the Helmet or the updated Infinity.

Kizers one of my fav companies. Been carrying and mini Begleiter with 20cv and titanium frag handle. Awesome knife! Can’t wait to get a couple of these new models.

Yeah, I have an Infinity, its a front flipper only. Black and white g10, N690, and super drop shutty, a little small though.

Kizer are still doing it they have been up on their game for what the best part of nearly 3 years now and still keep banging out some really good stuff, don’t get me wrong they do have the odd meh moments but given the amount they have put out that’s to be expected. That bulldog is the one that definitely stood out the most that pink hardware must be for some sort of special purpose like the Fighter they released to support cancer or something like that. Anyway I did read down in the comments the micarta version has got different hardware luckily enough. Then again even if it didn’t it’s not exactly hard to repaint the hardware well if you got more than a once of sense anyway. Right that’s enough babbling from me Jerad wishing you and Kara a cracking weekend ahead and as always stay safe and healthy both 🫵🏻😘👍🏼

The nice thing about the knife world now is if you are smart and have a collection you can time your purchases. In other words don't buy shit for 6 months make a list and pay half😂
I've almost always done this over the past 30 years as a knife user/collector. Saved me $$$. I've only purchased perhaps 4-5 knives at the time of release - all were limited editions or sprint runs. I also find it good to wait to see what the reviews of the knives are like. As a knife user I am very interested in performance so by waiting 6 or even 12 months if there are any performance issues they will have surfaced by then.

honestly super excited about kizer using nitro v, it’s not a new steel BUT kizer is heat treating it to 61-62 hrc (if their specs are accurate) which happens to be right at the point where nitro v has a pretty substantial Gain in edge retention compared to 59-60 hrc. now we just need some fixed blades in nitro v at 62 hrc…

The Bulldog looks like one I'll have to have (and thankfully there's a micarta option without the pink hardware... blech)... The rest are just not my thing though, I HATE flipper tabs that get in the way of having a nice close to the blade grip. It's not the 2000's, front-flippers are superior in every respect IMO and don't interfere with the blade use when deployed.
Love nitro V. Sharpest knives in my collection. Using tsprof idk what it is. Anyone know of a super steel that can easily get as sharp as nitro V and 14c? Is it rex45 and cru wear?

Thanks for the ongoing commentary re. plunge grinds and other sharpening issues. Many reviewers don't consider sharpening when they review a knife - but it's a massive consideration especially if you plan to use and maintain the blade. I tend to tolerate plunge smiles to some degree on my satin type blades but I can't stand them on black type blades - looks awful. Great vid as always. Sharp blades all.
I hear people complain about smiles on choils all the time but all it means is that your knife now has a built in wire stripper.

The extra springs that come with the knives are not thicker/stiffer. I have measured every set and they are all the same.
Hey. Good to know. It's definitely reasonable to think Kizer gave us some more tuning options with the 2nd set. But having two different spec Omegas would be impractical. I do love Kizer gives us some extras. Thanks for checking that out. ✨😺
Kizer has some great crossbar locks but I think Hogue does it better except for the ability to tune it like the clutch.
Has anyone had the springs break on the highest clutch lock setting? It looks like they wouldn't last long on the tightest setting.

Glad to see someone else picked this up. Almost any full stainless steel would be better. Coating or not, all it will take is some salt water to get in under those scales and it will become the deckhole. Have a great day.

You are way to crazy about the sharpening smile. You need to actually make some knives your self. Seems like you want a 90 degree angle at the bevel termination. Try a little side pry with the 90 degree and see how easily your blade snaps. Radius is strength. Smile as you sharpen so what?
