Composed by John Fogerty in 1969 Proud Mary became a massive hit for Creedence Clearwater Revival and went on to become a classic standard covered by many major artists and everyday musicians around the world.
Performed here as an instrumental featuring the Slide Dobro in the lead role with support from a 1969 Gibson ES-345 Electric Guitar, Proud Mary remains as popular today as it was when it first recorded more than 50 years ago.
The tune got its name from the famous Paddle Steamer boats that plied their trade on the river ways of the USA.
