We should all have a Lauren in our life! What a great friendship.❤ As for closet space...an armoire would be make a huge difference but not sure how much space you have in your place.

OMG! I meant that the other apartment you toured in your last video (that 2-story one) had a weird vibe, not this one. This one seems cozy & comfy, good vibes. Sorry for confusion, was NOT trying to spread any negativity. Thanks for sharing this journey, it's fun for us to follow along! 🫣😊
Totally agree the 2 storey apartment with cork floors was weird!

I loved living in West L.A. My apt was over by Sony Studios (Culver City-ish). The creative people, the beach, free events, restaurants I could walk to, and even a Ralph's and a Best Buy I could walk to. I miss it like crazy. I used to go to the beach almost every day to eat my lunch and get in my walks on the sand. I know you will be so happy there. Congrats!
West L.A. is nicer than "Mid-City" . West L.A. is the Culver City/Brentwood/Westwood/Century City areas. I think Shelby is in Mid-City.
@patr70 that's the palms area I recognize the views. She's south of century city. The restaurant she went to is in westwood. Mid city is less expensive. The sun rise is way at a angel. That happens after the streets curve into west LA, palms. Mar vista
@@josephaugello1527 My first apt was in Mar Vista. This was back a while. They did not have street cleaning on my block and street parking wasn't such a grueling inconvenience. My second place that I loved was around Overland and Venice Blvd.
Love the new place! People are so weird... I think your year in Seattle was such an awesome reset for you. Sometimes you need to retreat to move forward, so coming back was just a natural step in your journey. Not to mention that during the lock-downs a lot of us took a step back and took a good look at our lives and asked ourselves: "do I really love how my life is going? What do I want to change? What do I want to keep?" I believe you made the right choice with each move. Looking forward to the L.A. vlogs yay! 😊✌🏾
You put a lot of time and effort into this, and it definitely paid off. Lots of bright light and a great neighborhood and you seem to be happy settling in and nesting. Lauren is a really loyal friend.
I like your born to win outlook. For example you mentioned the road nose at night but you don't dwell on it and just power through. This personality traits has and will continue to serve you well in life.

I actually like the corner unit, galley style kitchen and the industrial touches. I love cooking on gas stoves so that's a plus for me. I'm originally from SoCal and while there are a few things l miss about it, l'm close enough now that l can visit often.
Love your new place. So bright and fresh and modern. Also we all need a bubbly, supportive bf like Lauren. ❤
Moving is so stress, but your video is SO relaxing. You also took us on a Target run & I thought it was so cute when Shelby said "and you guys are going to come with". I live how excited Shelby is & I think this is going to be a really good move for her. Can't wait to see her huge activities list, the more random the better. Congrats Shelby!.

I think you are in a good place and having Sam rent a place in the same area will make your heart sing. I love your lighting and I hope you set up a studio that you can on a moments notice just interact with everyone. Thank you again!!!
With the foam earplugs you have to roll them between your fingers and then insert them into the ear. It will take a few seconds, but they should expand inside your ear and block out a lot. You shouldn't be hearing much outside if they are in the ear properly. I use those for cutting grass, power tools etc.
On a completely different note, and nothing related to this fun vlog, your hair looks so healthy and pretty!
Honestly I moved to LA 3 weeks ago from Seattle, because of my boyfriend.. I used to live here for 2 years and now I just realized it's not for me at all it feels like it got worse at some point. I don't like constant son, homelessness satiation, way more expensive when it comes to rent.. and other personal things.
So now I'm trying to convince my boyfriend to move to Seattle at least for couple years. Fingers crossed hehe
I'm really happy for you! The apartment is nice and cozy and the fact that family close is a plus of course. We're not getting any younger so try everything! Especially if it makes you happy😊❤️

For the noise get some curtains and/or an air purifier! The constant white noise will help get rid of all that.

This place sounds so perfect for you and I can hear the joy in your voice! I’m so happy for you and the new place is great . You’ve already lived in LA before and it must feel like a homecoming! I think people don’t understand how life happens and how we gotta do what’s right for us not what others think we should do!
You might get used to the noise, but get a nest or a hatch. Best white noise/brown noise machine I have ever had. 100% worth the money.
Knowing you have a lot of friends and Sam in the area, plus your family just a drive away is reason enough to move there. There’s no reason to explain yourself!
Let's hope when you buy a place prices will go down and the interest rates go down..

I know you love the dogs, but I think they took up a lot of your energy and attention throughout the day. That is nice the movers had the screws and came back to build the bed. My dream is that someone else packs up for me. lol You were definitely not happy in Seattle especially after you moved into the townhouse. I understand the idea of driving and just having that time to yourself which you cannot do on public transport. It is nice having that freedom.
I am so excited for you! You're thriving and seem way more motivated and happy. You and your sister are seriously so motivating. You had so much thought and intention behind your move, it has to feel so rewarding to see the reward.

Can't believe how fast you got this up! Wow Shelby you are amazing. I moved from Quebec to Nova Scotia in the summer and didn't have my desktop computer unpacked for 10 days lol. It is such a huge job moving and hard to find stuff that you're sure you know where it is "supposed to be". I admire you greatly. BTW what happened to the couch that was in your apartment in Seattle? Nice that your stuff mostly all fits in the new place. Congratulations! Lauren looks so happy to have you there.

You will get used to the road noise. I lived beside a busy street for three years coming from a quiet area and I got used it the traffic noise fast. It became like white noise for sleeping!
I prefer the unpacking the best about any move. The new unit looks great. Good on you for taking a the chance living alone. Having family and Sam close by will be great x

I'm a sensitive sleeper and I got those exact Earplugs from Amazon. They're amazing! I've gone through so many disposable 32dB Earplugs but they keep falling out. These actually stay in my ears all night 🌙

I thought the New York apartments seemed creepy and lonely dark and isolating, add to this the deep snow and frozen weather in winter and New York is a city to avoid, the crime there seems excessive, Los Angeles is a warm better place to live, Palm Springs only 2 hours away, all you need is a hot tub and a kombucha and it’s home Shelby 😃✌️❤️🇬🇧
Crime in L.A. is also bad, in certain parts, but at least her apartment is in a secure building.

Maybe you could get a thin/tall free-standing cabinet to hold your broom, vacuum, etc? I feel like you could find a little nook for that somewhere by the kitchen/living room.

My local CB Outlet told us that they restock furniture on Thursday's - so we always had the best luck finding big pieces on discount on Thursdays!
Try using a Hatch Baby as a sound machine overnight to help with road noise ❤ the rain feature is so much nicer than white noise

Shelby to improve the flavour of coffee try putting a small amount of margarine in each cup, a baked bean size lump and stir in when hot, it will add to the smoothness and texture, or a vegan margarine alternative. Worth trying it improves the flavour of low grade coffee too✌️❤️🇬🇧
Great vlog Shelby! The apartment is coming together nicely, I'm glad you had your bedroom set up pretty quickly so you could feel more at home! I'm glad that you found earplugs that worked for you. Totally get what you mean about family - it's nice to know they're accessible and semi-near by it's a comfort even if you don't get to see them that often. Also nice that Sam is going to be renting a place out there! Will be nice to have him close by more often I'm sure 😊. You don't have to answer this question but out of curiosity, since Sam is going to be renting a place in LA now, was it a consideration to rent a place together? I look forward to the next vlog!
