Welcome to a very SPECIAL episode of Chopstick Travel. Today, we will be taking you inside the home of a Palestinian family for a full on ZARB meal in Bethlehem. Zarb is a roast chicken meal, made with spices like sumac, chili and za’atar. The chicken originally was baked underground in the dessert, by the Beduins, but this family re-created a modern version of the oven, and show us the process of how it’s done.
We also take you to eat some delicious Palestinian food all around Bethlehem, while checking out some of the main sites, like the Church of Nativity and Shepherd’s Fields. Who knew Bethlehem had so much to do! One of the top highlights was a visit to Sammie’s shop, for a secret concoction tea and to listen to his singing. Did you know Sammie appeared in Conan O’Brien’s show?

My favorite video so far. The Arab people are some of the most beautiful, loving, generous, and warm people on this earth. I have been fortunate to have beloved friends from Iraq, Syria, Jordan, Egypt, and Lebanon to name a few. They are all like family to me and I have learned so much from my middle eastern brothers and sisters.

I have a chance to meet some Palestinians in Tel Aviv. They were warm, friendly and even invited me as a total stranger to their house for tea. Their warmest hospitality was beyond me.
Palestinians are just like other people, bad and good. In general, Arabs are very hospitable no matter the country. Try Morocco , Lebanon just name these two countries

Yes you are right there wasn't Jordan historically, we are the same country (Leavent) but , Lebanon, Palestine, Jordan , North of Saudi Arabia, North of iraq, east of Egypt (Sinaa) ... Arabs calls us leaventians because basically we share same traditions we came from same tribes generally , we share same dialects (almost they are close to each other) maybe in general food traditions etc... I love your channel. It helps people to focus on people and not politics which is the best way to lesson the hate in the world. One little step at a time.
Except that the entire last part of his video unintentionally shows that it's not safe to be a tourist where he was due to hate. He had to have a guide to show him the safe places he could film and eat without being attacked. How exactly does that lesson hate? We should lesson our hate towards people who want us dead for being in their country?

I was in tears watching this video and more so when listening to your comments at the end. My son spent several months in Palestine, some in Beit Sahour, working on a farm. We heard the real story of what's happening in the region. You're right, you cannot have any idea unless you go. Unfortunately he passed a few years ago and we are so very grateful for the Palestinian people and the hospitality they showed him. He learned what it was to live in a community. He'd never been happier.

@@jadecummings8093 Every country has their own names for it.. In Palestine they call it zarb. As he said in his video this is kinda modern way. The original way and this is almost in every country how they do it, they basically dig a hole in the ground with wood fire in it. The fire should die down and becomes charcoal and then they put the meat or chicken. The hole should be then covered and sealed to seal the heat inside it.
