I've had mine for years with no issues ... I love it. The first thing I did was get rid of that standard wheel vice too. Used the same Harbor freight Condor locking wheel chock too LOL. I drilled a few holes and added some eyelet bolts for some extra tie down spots ...

I just posted this on another HF review but I think it needs to be said:
Bought this lift about 7 years ago. Used it for my 06 Royal Star Venture and two late model Ultra Limiteds until last week. I really liked it although the 1000 lb rating seemed a little wobbly when those big bikes were up and the platform was pinned.
Last week I was getting ready to service my 2021 FLHTK Ultra and had the bike set and secured to the platform. I pumped the foot lever and realized nothing was moving. I depressed the release lever and tried pumping it up again to no avail. I walked to the other side and I could see the right side frame rail was bent outwards. WTH? I put the ramp back on, removed the tie-downs and backed my bike off really
carefully. When I lifted the inspection plate I could see the problem.
The weld where the flat triangular plate welds and meets the ram on the jack had split and in the process of me pumping to lift the bike it all went sideways and bent just about all the mechanisms and linkage. Even one pivot axle came out of its cradle where the frame rail bent.
Up to last week I probably would've recommended this lift, maybe I still would for lighter bikes but I won't be buying another. I honestly believe it's rated a bit over it's weight capacity. I'm just thankful it didn't have a failure when the bike was in the air and I was able to get the Ultra back on the ground safely!

I was thinking a similar thing - I wouldn't put a beast of a bike on this thing but, mine is under 500lbs so I'm hoping this will do the trick for simple jobs.

Great review, thanks for posting! I just bought one of these and am very happy with the performance for my own personal bike maintenance use. Like you, the first thing I replaced was the front chock for stability and safety.
To expand on your safety bar comments while the lift is raised (great job to point that out btw), any home/diy professional hydraulic lift, including car jacks, are NOT designed to hold the load up while you perform your maintenance (please save the "I do it all the time" comments and hear me out.) The hydraulics are intended to lift and lower a load only. You have to mechanically lock it out after you raise it so there is no load on the hydraulics. I can't tell you how many reviews I've read about people complaining of the hydraulics failing, leaking, or creeping down during use. It's also really dangerous as sometimes there can be a catastrophic failure without warning, not just a fluid leak with creeping (which is why you always use a lift with jack stands). Although the more expensive/quality lifts will have better hydraulics (good seals and valving), they will still fail prematurely if you keep the load on after lifting. Make your lift last longer and be safe - use the lock out bar!

I thought the same left about four years ago for about $400. So far has been working great the whole time and the only upgrades I had to do was at a vice style wheel chock and I put a 12 inch wide strip of skateboard grip tape down the entire deck and ramp. The grip tape is because one time I was loading the bike after riding in the rain and it almost slipped off the lift. I also use a scissor jack just like yours on my lift. The only other accessory I would highly recommend is get what's called a mechanics roller seat. It's a low roller chair with a tray under it that's the perfect height to sit on next to the lift and work on your bike.

Had mine for 3 years and love it. I knew the original wheel chock was junk so bolted on the nice black one you used since new. I mounted mine with 9" overhang which puts the 2002 Road King rear fender 3" onto deck. Almost all lifting devices have mechanical locks to take weight off hydraulics and for safety. Never know when seals or hoses blow, controls get bumped and someone gets serious hurt or killed.

Nice man. I think some people don’t use the stop and leave the stand jacked up and I think it causes the Jack to go bad faster but that’s just my theory I haven’t had any issues

So, motorcycles are kind of a second hobby/passion of mine. My primary passion would have to be antique tractors. When I get my lift, it will be pulling double-duty in my shop. I have a tractor waiting on a transmission rebuild, and this lift will be perfect for that task as well. Once we get the rear wheels and axles removed, we'll slide this lift under the trans and then split the trans. As long as this table is, it will give us plenty of room to disassemble and rebuild it. Beats the hell out of wallering it around on a bench up against the wall, or on the floor.
As for the motorcycles, I have a '69 Honda SL90 up for restoration, and from the sounds of it, I'll be getting my late Grandpa's '09 Yamaha V Star, which needs some TLC from not being ridden in a couple years.
Thanks for your review, going over the features, and telling us what you've changed on it. I was leaning towards getting one anyway, but now I'm convinced. Thanks again

I did the same mod with the wheel chock, but it put my Indian back tire right on the edge of the ramp and it made it where I wouldn't be able to use the rear tire drop-out. I moved the chock 6" forward and it's holding up nicely! Oh, I also cut part of the rear frame to the chock also so that I could get a oil pan in there.

I would like to add an idea. the Pittsburgh chock is great, however on my 1700 Triumph Storm, I have a 130 70/19 front and its a VERY tight fit. Too tight IMHO, so I used a piece of thin cardboard to make a template off the front mount holes to add some space to the rear pivot point.

get the upgraded clamp from HF

Putting a safety stop in is not to stop hydraulic seals from going bad. It's to stop cheap Chinese rams from bleeding down or failing and causing injury or damage. I've got multiple Southworth 4000 lb. scissor lifts in my shop and they don't move at all, even if I go away for 6 months. I leave the tables up all the time, so they've been under pressure for about 12 years. The one lift was probably 15 years old when I bought it. If I leave something heavy on my Harbor Fright engine hoist lifted a couple of feet overnight, it will be on the floor the next morning. I only own 2 Harbor Freight items - that engine hoist and a drywall lift. They are both absolute garbage.

@@dynademos Prices definitely went up the last few years. I'm working out of my garage at the moment, looking for a 2500 - 3000 sq ft building in Wisconsin. We buy and flip, clean them up, custom paint, add bars, chrome, wheels and regular maintenance. We have a location in Arkansas too, new shop is being built there now. We don't do customer bikes at all, we own everything and sell. Your video really sealed the deal as we had a used one in Arkansas, and just bought a new one for that shop as well.

Cruisers don't have exhaust running under the frame, for a crotch rocket you will need to put blocks on the lift so that it lifts on the frame and doesn't touch the pipes

The jacks on these are pure garbage. Do yourself a favor and fab up a pnuematic jack or spend the money to buy a real quality lift. Ive owned mine for 4 years and its garbage. Buy a Titan or something comparable. Well worth the money.
