I like the Stockman design, too, and Case in particular. The first knife that I toted, other than my Kabar, was an Uncle Henry Stockman. I love the Sheepsfoot for opening and cutting up boxes. I just bought a Large Case Stockman with amber bone handle and CV blades. However I may carry it along with my Old Timer 80T, both Stockman designs to keep from messing up the blades on my Case Stockman. The 80T has stainless steel blades which will not rust, a common problem in the South where I live.
It's good to have both blade and steel options for a host of reasons. The stockman is a great do all pattern for many who aren't interested in carrying multiple knives, so it's cool that you like to carry more than one. Thanks, John.
I know this video is a year old but I love the looks of this knife. I should have bought one when they were around $55 when they first came out. Oh well, I’ll buy one now. I love the 75 pattern.
I just ordered the same knife today. This will be my first large stockman Case (I have the small and medium) and my first order from SH. I was on the fence between the crimson bone and the 6.5 bonestag but chose this one. I hope mine turns out as well as yours. If not, I understand they have great customer service but hope there is no need to put that to the test. Thanks for the review.
@@ThriftyKaniffy Well it came in and I am more than happy with it! The coloration is just a bit darker than yours here and it has a good bit of black near the centers of the handles. Fit and finish are 10 out of 10. No gaps, perfect centering and no rubs whatsoever. One doesn't really understand how "large" the Case large stockman is until you handle one. It is an imposing knife and sitting next to a Buck 110 it holds its own. My next Case will be the mini copperlock. Cheers.
Hi TK: A very nice knife indeed. I was gifted the 6375 with amber peach seed bone and chrome vanadium steel. A wonderful example with perfect fit and finish. I wish Case would do that well all the time. I forced a patina on the two smaller blades but left the clip alone. That four and a quarter size fits my really big catcher’s mitt just right. I also have that older really large Rough Rider stockman in red jigged bone. Four and one half inches. It’s not stamped but I think it’s rr 323. A really great example.
@@ThriftyKaniffy I was just having a little fun. I’ve been a knife enthusiast since the early 70’s when I bought my first real knife, The Buck 110. After all these years of owning just about every type of knifeI’m back to a Case 75. 👍
Congratulations on your 1st Case 75 🗡️John👍🏻! You sure picked a beautiful set of Crimson handles there, fantastic🗡️, enjoy it Brother! Have a good weekend😎! Take care, & God Bless!
That crimson bone looks fantastic! I love the 75 pattern stockman, it's such an awesome work carry. That knife just means business. I just got my third one last week from Shepherd Hills, it's got smooth red delrin with an American flag shield and CS blades. Really enjoying that one so far. Cheers, buddy!
The 75 pattern has been my favorite Stockman since I can remember. Work horse of a knife. You got a nice one there, love the Crimson Bone. Very cool TK.👍👍
Great video, thanks Thrifty. I personally love all of the Shepard Hills Exclusives, they do a very good job. There Fit & Finish seems to be pretty darn good. You look like you got a pretty good one. Great Job Shepard Hills, and awesome content as Always 👍
Beautiful knife! I have a question about the bone handles. I've seen a couple videos where guys oil the bone handles. Is this necessary? I always thought the oil from your hands is enough to keep the bone in good shape.
HI TK, I see that the bolster has two indentations on the show side. Have you noticed that? I've read on a website that they are caused by the buffering process when the jigging was done all the way to the bolster. I've recently purchased a pocketworn grey bone Barlow that has a similar issue: 3 indentations on the show side and 3 on the back side. I find that to be a major eye sore, and, currently, I'm contacting Case to see if they are willing to fix the issue. None of the pics on their website show these indentations and, imo, this should be considered a defect. I would be very curious to hear what you have to say on the subject... thanks!
Seems with jigging up tp the bolster it 'd create a gap if it weren't pinched down a bit. Would prefer they just not jig that close to the ends at all, but considering all the other things to worry about with their fit and finish this is pretty low on the list for me.
Ordered one after seeing this. The 75 is just a beefy piece of cutlery. It may not be the most pocket friendly, but if you plan on doing serious work, I feel like this guy is up to it.
I love the large case stockman and I had just bought one but I didn't notice that it was stainless steel, I really dislike stainless steel. I think Case makes some in carbon steel but not much variety.
Very nice, Cases bone scales impress me more every time I see them. I'm thinking more of going in the more expensive route too, a few quality for life knives and holding back on the budget brands. At least a couple of Cases and a Sheffield made Stockman. Maybe an Otter...............
I got the same one at there "sister" store in Osage Beach, MO. It is a beautiful knife. Mine has serious blade rub but it is fully functional and the fit and finish is great so I carry it and use it.
