- David was waiting for his long-expected vacation all year. He planned to spend it looking at tourist attractions and just drinking cocktails. Everything had to be perfect since the cruise didn't come cheap.
The cruise went as planned and nothing was strange. David enjoyed the river islands and then noticed an unusual black spot on one's coast that was slowly approaching him...

When I saw the footage of the dog i just broke down in tears.... You can tell it was so close to dying. I can only imagine how scared and alone that poor pup must have felt. Just breaks my freaking heart.

I am beyond happy this dog was rescued. Shame on the people who left her on the island and even more shame on the creep who knowing her situation but still took her back to the island. I’m so happy Negrita is doing so much better and has a wonderful home now.

So happy to see Negrita (Spanish for black) saved and loved because some human decided that saving a life was worth every penny. I can only imagine all those pets being abandoned to fend off by themselves. How can anyone discard of a beautiful dog as if it was garbage is beyond me.
This dog could have been a beloved pet who became lost...and whose previous family have been praying for her! The dog's rescue and new home was the answer to prayer! 🙏

Thank you David! I've rescued animals all my life, from the streets. Did it since I was a kid. I kept every one of them. Some were so very ill and abused and weren't with me for long. But they passed knowing love, good food and warmth. I cried my eyes out every time I lost one. But others were with us for many good long years. God bless you, you're a kind man. 💟🐶🐱🐈🐕🐇🐹

Me , my wife and kids found an abandoned Shepard in the middle of the Mohave desert she was dehydrated and hungry, She lived with us for many years and had a wonderful life.

I cried too. We have the same reaction. I had a dog once like negrita, also jet black. But he died last march 2011. I really cried for several days when i lost koko- my dog. Nine years had passed but still now i still feel sentimental n lonely when i remember koko. Thank u for this wonderful video.

and i can't believe there was someone on the boat who took the dog back to the island when it has been rescued the first time, must've been the previous owner of the dog, it really makes me question if he was human or not !

The Irish are generally very uncaring about their animals. The cruelty towards dogs/cats/horses/donkeys and farm animals is notorious. The odd person here and there might care for their pets, but as a nation they are cruel to their animals. They don't care much for their fellow humans either!!

As an owner of an abandoned dog, this story made my heart soar! Plus the fact Negrita was an SBD---a Shiny Black Dog---was extra special. SBD's are often the last ones to be adopted, if at all. My Maggie is an SBD/she was abandoned by someone and apparently abused, based on how fearful she was of being around people---including her fear of being touched. She was within a half hour of being put down when she was rescued. She and I have had a wonderful time together for years now. She is SO special, so loving, and she gives me so much good company!---and I try to return all her love as much as possible, tho, it is sometimes hard to match what a dog gives in terms of pure, unqualified love and devotion. Thank you for the video.

This gentleman who rescued “Negrita” did the right thing rescuing her. I can’t imagine leaving her in that deserted island to die alone . The previous owner who left “Negrita” in that island doesn’t know that he won a free trip to hell.
Has it occurred to *ANYONE* that the dog may have been on a trip with it's people, caught a scent and ran off after something. There's a REAL good chance they looked and looked and looked, perchance for days. Finally, being forced by circumstances -- how long could *you* survive on an uninhabited island in the middle of the freakin' *Amazon* ?! -- they had to leave with heavy, broken hearts, assuming the worst had happened when their beloved friend never answered their calls, and never returned.
The person we KNOW is in danger of Judgment is the one who took her back to the island in the middle of the night when no one was looking. And bless the captain for turning around and going back for her!

i'm crying. it is so cool from the cruise ship captain to take the dog. and then when an idiot on board brought her back that the captain went back with the whole cruise ship and the dog was waiting there. I can imagine that when she was with someone her first owner who left her or whatever that is was not the first time she waited for someone to come back and pick her up. Thanks to this guy, a passenger, and ofcorse the cruise ship captain who could have said no to a stray dog as extra passenger, she is not alone anymore ❤
I have an idea he had to pay to make his request to be honored. This brought back a memory when I was six years old. My grandfather had shot our dog Penny when she was suffering from extreme pain. He buirried her and later that night the Penny managed dig itself out of the gournd, returned to our home two miles away and made it to our porch and scratched to tell us to open the door. we did, and my grandfather said, he earned the right to live, as long as possible but had to take strong pain pills to be live six more months. Remember, this was in 1945. Vets came to your home.

My dad has been taking care of stray dogs ands cats any animal in need his whole life. He has faced so much criticism and anger from people for doing so. When we use to live in a housing society it was a nightmare. Every day someone would knock at our doors to complain. Ultimately we built our own house with some space so that we could keep the animals. The stray animals often leave when they have recovered some chose to stay. My father is almost 75 years old and still continues to help them. The amount of animosity he has faced from humans for helping animals his whole life , if I were him , I would have given up long ago, but not him.
Your Dad is a very good Man...My late father had the same incentive to help aswell..

Amazing story, and a man with genuine feeling for that dogs life. I would've also spent some time in finding out who was the malicious person on that ship who took negrita back to that island. That was a very cowardly thing to do to a defenseless animal. But great job in rescuing this brave dog. He'll have a truly loyal friend for a very long time!
