By the looks of these comments a lot of Tongan people don’t understand that our Tongan dances have changed dramatically in the last 50years or so. Just because they perform it a little different to todays Tongan standards it doesn’t mean they’re performing it wrong. Just look at a tauolunga from 20 years ago compared to now and you can already see how big the changes are.

The dancer in the middle , is called Vahenga , or reference to person responsible for a large group of men or dancers .. however, our Fijian cousins , who's dances are mostly war inspired , they refer to him / her as Na Manumanu meaanig THE
BEAST ... 👺I like the THE Fijian version ...🌴🐢🦈

Is this how it was choreographed or did the boys just get to mafana?

    • @AtenisiFPA

I guess if you don't understand the performance and how it is a process of reciprocity. In return for entertainment, the audience show signs of engagement and participation. Without this, the performance itself it literally... well nothing and meaningless.

sick of people performing tongan dances and not doing it properly, futa should've taught them how to taulalo properly, hold the wood properly and to perform passive aggressively, its not a taufakaniua or a kailao....but then again..this is how maoris must feel when everyones doing the haka and looking like unstable sticks about to lose balance

Hey dr Futa don't lie to people!!!! Futuna have never ever been ruled by Tonga. Gaasialili never touched the soil of Futuna and he only won a part of Uvea. The Tapaki dance was brought to Tonga by Futunan free braves or by some Uvean (since the Tapaki dance is also a Uvean dance) under the control of Gasialili. Don't lie just tell the truth. Tuku te loi pea mo tuku tona mafola. Ka kokoe kohe dr pea ako'i mo faka mafola te mo'oni. Ka mole ke malama kiteu koga aia tapunu tou gutu.

Tagaloa Muliava, because nothing was documented, everything is based on interpretation, this could be what Tongans believed happened. My father was also well resourced, I wish he was alive so he can provide you with evidence to support this claims. Alofa atu

Tagaloa…..you don’t even know your history……this is the truth….Futuna and Uvea were ruled by Tonga in 1000 AD……Dr. Futa is telling the truth……..thats why your language is similar to the Tongans…...

Not the proper way to perform the Me'etu'upaki. Great singing, but too fast paced.
