Thank you for this sensible review. You really know how to boil it down when it comes to daily life issues and cut out the tech-nerd-crazy-stuff (which is also very important for progression and bringing us the cars of the future), but not that much when it comes to daily life.
@@TheDrivenLife really liked this vid, I'm looking to purchase the s3 sedan but it will be the pre facelift as my budget doesn't stretch far enough for the facelift s3, you mentioned the gearbox is much better then the prefacelift, how bad is the s tronic box in the prefacelift s3? And any other issues you have heard of
Well Imran, the gearbox isn't bad in the pre-facelift, it's just that the face-lift S3 has a more optimized gearbox that really enhances the driving experience as it helps to put the power down much better. I know you only budgeting for the pre-facelift but do yourself the favor and atleast test drive a face-lift S3 after first driving the pre-facelift then you'll understand what I'm getting at.
@@TheDrivenLife does the 7 speed s tronic upshift itself when you hit redline on dynamic mode when using paddle shifters? That would be annoying for me, do you know if that can be changed like possibly tuning the gearbox to get rid of torque limiters possibly, this would put me of buying an s3 or tts.
Great review. Just a little info for yourself. I have 3 kids and went from a RR sport to S3 saloon! My kids are a little older than yours,10-9 and 4 so only the 4 year old in a booster seat but it actually works really well kids being that little bit older, although the booster seat has to go on the outer seats.
Mine does this with the gear thing when I fill up and been driving for a while it jumps out would I still be ok for a software update if my cars stage 1 they fitted a new sensor on the gearbox and knew I had a stage 1 map on it and told me it’s a td1 and they had to contact Audi Germany so think it’s ok for warranty apart from the gearbox etc and engine but anything else is ok
I`m picking up white sportback next friday :) Thx for review matrix led, bang & olufsen, cameras etc, no magnetic ride good that you have mentioned it`s not a must.
I own a 2018 S3, like you I always park in the far corner of the car park to avoid the dreaded door dents. It must be human nature to act like sheep as on several occasions I’ve returned to find a car parked next to mine when there’s an abundance of empty spaces 😡
People will park right next to you no matter how far away you park simply because most drivers find it easier to judge the space next to another car (or between 2 cars) than park correctly between 2 white lines that they can't see painted on the car park floor. DRIVES ME NUTS!!!
😂 yeah just cannot stand them. And then to top it off they will park extra close to the point where it makes it difficult to open your door. I mean...give me a break lol
😂 they are everywhere and they drive beaten up old cars. On a different note, my 2018 sportback has full specced package but with standard S3 seats, and l must beg to differ about the optional sports seats being a must. I find my seats absolutely comfortable and hugging enough on spirited cornering. Cheers 😊
@@robbo000 Cool Sir. I went for the Nano grey and black edition with privacy glass. I found the Nardo grey a little too light. Bloody good cars for sure
I see one of these for sale 35k 22k miles cpo with red leather seats white interior I’m also debating vs a silver red interior s4 2018 22k miles 38k which is a better deal
I recently bought an S3. At work I park in a bit of secluded area of the car park, purely so nobody parks next to me. One day some idiot decided to park next to me even though they had over 200 other spaces to choose from. Always one idiot!
Still a bit undecided at this stage to be honest. I want to do some kind of upgrade but just not sure if i want another JB4 or if i want a software tune. JB4 is great but it has it's limitations.
Hmm...i have other plans in mind. Thinking of keeping this car and getting something else in the next couple of years. Want to do a bit of a build on this car.
They live among us. I felt that. I felt it in my bones.
This guy has a soothing voice. I love a South African accent… Great car too

Thumbs up for naming the ... lack the word to group these people ... who park 2mm beside your car although there's plenty room in all directions.
I really enjoyed this review. Thanks for taking the time to film it and sharing it.
Very refreshing review for a prospective owner, thank you☺
I currently own a 2015 seat cupra with some mods but I'm looking forward to buy a S3 and I really like your sincere opinions of the S3.
Many thanks bud! I really try to keep things as unbiased as possible so that the viewer can draw their own conclusions.

I thought the booster seat goes in the middle
the battery drain sounds like a wiring fault. have you had someone run a diagnostic on the car? also, probably check the wiring with a voltmeter
"they live among us". this did get a laugh out loud!
Hey, are your rims 18" or 19"? Which do you think would be better for this car?
I own a 2018 S3 as well. It has hardly any options though. Only the sunroof and red calipers.

I had the exact same issue with the gear slipping on my S3. Have no idea what it is
Same issue ! Audi America is looking into for me !
ahessla let me know what they say. My dealer could not diagnose any problem which is annoying.
Great video man👍🏾👌🏾

It really isn't bud. You won't be missing much by not having it. You are better off fitting a set of H&R or similar springs.
@@TheDrivenLife had h&r springs in my audi S3 8p plus koni shocks with dampening adjustment, absolute game changer.

Happens to me too, unbelievable, when I park in a near empty car park and still someone parks next to me!.
Hi mate, how’s the car with you for the past years I would like to buy used 2018 Audi S3
I didn’t get the Sports seats on my S3. I’m sad about it.
Nice review. thanks. I have my 2020 S3 incoming. I noticed the red rings on the vents is that an Audi part or aftermarket?
audi part
My own neighbor has put dents in my truck. My own neighbor. Thinking about s3. Not sure what year. Which is most reliable?
The battery issue sounds like a short
So they actually found some damage on the earth cable which they replaced. Since then, my battery seems to be behaving itself.
Would you rather this or an M240i? I heard these are boring after a while

Interesting. I fell in love with the sport seats the moment i sat in them. They just felt different to me.
@@TheDrivenLife well, whichever seats are the best we both know the S3 is a super car indeed. 👍✌️
@@verdeboyo For sure! 🙌
@Gio Verde I have a glacier white '17 S3 with the "standard" magma red seats... wouldn't have it any other way.

For sure 😂. Happened to me again yesterday. 😒
The Driven Life Annoying isn’t it 😂
On your battery issue’s did Audi ever check for over charging ??
Just wondering.
They did but it was normal. The issue was resolved by replacing the earth cable. Seems it had some damage on it.

Ah very good.
How has car kept up in terms of quality ?
I know people say after 80k miles Audi sometime start breaking down.
Thanks.
I’ve actually seen a facelift s3 without a panoramic sunroof 😭😭😢 something was wrong with that guy🤦🏾♂️.

I can't stand red trim interior
I think on the brilliant black spec it fits. But that's just my opinion 😁
Red trim is ugly. Looks cheap and tacky
@@TheDrivenLife I love it. Wish my 17 s3 had it haha. Other than that I have the same exact options as you! Have had it for 2 months, awesome car!
