Halsey always refers to the Spartans by their names. She also is capable of identifying any of them even in identical armor based purely on body language (which annoys the Spartans because no one else can)
Does she? I thought that despite insisting on reminding herself that they were children, early on she chastised herself for using John's name because she wanted to keep some emotional distance.
@@colbyboucher6391 Both are true. Halsey is cold in interactons but an emotional mess in private. She absolutely uses first names for all of the II's despite initially chastising herself for it. She intended to have emotional distance but this was something she failed at.
@@sambainbridge301Yeah, even the IIs can't see her anything else than their mother, for better or worse. If I remember correctly, there's a story where Halsey was with a team of IIIs and IIs, but because of one of her choices a III hits her "softly". Halsey then put her hand up to signal stop, when the IIIs looked up, the IIs where pointing their guns at them ready to fire; Halsey just stopped them.
@@valterfara5027 I don''t remember that exact scene, but sounds like it would have been on Onyx, possibly in the Kilo-5 trilogy. Cool that Halsey would just instinctively signal "stop" immedietly because she knows how Blue will react!
I actually had a conversation just today about whether or not her becoming a sort of mother figure for them was intentional on her part or just a result of the situation they wer all in. And if it was intentional, was it for her own sake or for theirs? Did this mess with the II's heads even more, or did it actually make it easier for them to cope with everything? Very interpretable stuff.
@sambainbridge301 Given how ONI accuses her of being a "bleeding heart" for the Spartans and her early failed attempts at maintaining distance I don't think it was planned. As she came to care for the Spartans and regret what she did to them that dynamic naturally occurred.
The “mildly sociopathic” line always made sense to me. You take a bunch of kids, give em military training, one day a kid goes a little ballistic on a training instructor and maims them or worse, and then the kid, and every kid watching, gets reassured that that was perfectly okay and they aren’t in trouble? Of course that’s gonna breed mildly sociopathic tendencies.
One of the things that disappoints me about this series is that it does nothing to actually address Halsey, or the UNSC for enabling ONI to let her do this. All of her work only ends up being justified in hindsight because the Covenenant attacked with the intention of extermination. If the Covenant never existed, or if they wanted diplomatic negotiation, her actions wouldn't be anywhere near as sympathetic.
She tortured kids to raise them into supersoldiers, and the game not only supporters her but claims outright that this is the next evolution of the human race. That in order to evolve the human race, we need to torture kids. It's the one thing that has always left a bad taste in my mouth about everything post Halo 3, even though Halo Reach is my second favorite game in the series (only just behind Halo 2).
Interesting take because I actually have always thought the 343 games are the only ones to call Halsey out at all, and that’s part of why certain fans have such a vitriolic reaction, they want her on a pedestal where she can do no wrong. She isn’t even in the Bungie games until Reach, just lurking in the background like most of the UNSC’s wrongdoing. So for casual fans who just played the Bungie games they got “blindsided” by the fact that Halsey and the UNSC are kinda morally ambiguous at best or outright evil at their worst. Sure they could’ve tracked down Sadie’s story and learned about the police state in ODST, they could’ve read between the lines of Halsey’s cold dialog and demeanor in Reach, but by and large most fans didn’t pick up on all that. Enter Halo 4 and 5, and now we’re taking Halsey to task even if just a little. She’s arrested and being interrogated albeit not really for her crimes so much as because the UNSC wants to grill her for what she knows, she goes through -SPOILERS- in Spartan Ops, has entirely the wrong opinion of the -SPOILERS- in the campaign no matter how much some fans like to quote her opinion on them like it’s the objective truth and they aren’t as good, and as Meg already astutely pointed out she’s just an egotistical monster throughout all of it because that’s just what Halsey is, an egotistical monster. In my opinion these are the only games in the series that try to draw attention to that at all, much the opposite of the interpretation that Halsey is given some sort of pass.
@@arbington they do call out that fact in these games but they initiate this tendency that 343 has of gaslighting any argument against Halsey and humanity in general by showing her as this edgy "necessary evil" that must be protected. Even in the opening sequence of this game they completely avoid the matter of her kidnapping kids by saying "oh, the interrogator wants to replace the Master Chief, what a villain!", and don't address the fact that she has a problematic and supremacist ideology at all, they still show this as an inspiring speech.
I never really saw it like that. I think 343 constantly has her spouting off about “necessary evils” and the “greater good” because that really is how she sees herself and how the UNSC see themselves. I don’t think they intend you to take away that this is actually right though. Evil people do not see themselves as evil, they think their actions are justified just like anyone does. Of course Halsey doesn’t just outright stare right into the camera and say “I am a bad lady who does bad things.” But even in the rushed context of a video game plot you can understand that kidnapping and experimenting on children would be wrong under literally any circumstances. The game relies on the audience to have a basic sense of decency already I guess rather than being completely blunt and heavy-handed. But when Halsey is more concerned they want to replace Chief, HALSEY is more concerned they want to replace Chief, not we the audience. The interrogation scene lays groundwork for later events in the game. Halsey disapproves of that program, Halsey thinks the ethics hold it back, Halsey thinks this Halsey thinks that but it doesn’t mean 343 thinks those things or that we the audience are meant to agree. Some people idolize Halsey and real world figures like her, they elevate her opinions to facts and muddy the waters with their boneheaded misinterpretations of the story and themes, which are still the same post-Bungie as pre-Bungie. Halsey’s constant naysaying distress about things is in my opinion there to draw attention to how wrong she is, about basically everything, all the time. She’s not a savior, she’s barely even brilliant, she was just a stooge of a horrific regime who happened to be the right person in the right place at the right time to run an abhorrent program that accidentally ended up saving everyone. But what comes later in this game, and to a lesser extent Ackerson and the IIIs, it all shows that Halsey’s way isn’t the only way, even if she’s not a big enough person to see that herself. We’re expected to know that because it’s morally obvious. Maybe they could’ve spent more time spelling it out a little clearer but I’ll still take this over never even mentioning her in the first three games, there’s making your point rather unclearly and then there’s sweeping the point under the rug where it can’t be controversial. The controversy and the bad arguments surrounding it are most of the problem I think, I don’t blame the game or the devs but the fanbase for a lack of general media literacy. If Halsey stabbed the interrogator and drank his blood while proclaiming herself the space-messiah I’d definitely know she was evil but I can also listen to what she says in a poor attempt to justify herself and disagree with her, and I think the more subtle approach is better storytelling. I could make my points here better but I don’t want to spoil things. Suffice it to say I suppose that I also think there’s another character in this particular game they intended to be a foil of sorts to Halsey and I think that character is why they involved Halsey so much in the first place. There’s brute-forcing the evolution of a species through mad science and mad egos, and then there’s a subtler gentler approach which is more about slow steady guidance across millennia. Halsey obsessed with justifying herself in the here and now loses sight of the context of human life itself in the past and future which surround it. She thinks she saved everyone and everything, but only because she’s the kind of person who maybe literally can’t see herself as just one drop in the infinitely long story of humankind, she’s too pompous/self-righteous to accept that any will but her own could steer the ship right. Whether that’s other ONI figures like the ones who made the IIIs or some godlike force putting a geas on humanity. Maybe the problem is people can’t accept Halsey as just being wrong because there’s a desire for her to see the error of her ways and be redeemed somehow but she’s just not that kind of person. She’s just rotten. You could show her proof she’s wrong both morally and factually over and over and she’d still spit in your face about compromises. Which again, I think is pretty much what they do with her character.
God I wanna make these points better and I feel like I myself am being a bit heavy handed and blunt with my messaging here, but I’m trying to dance around a lot of plot without spoiling anything. Sorry if it comes across as a bit more “black-and-white, this is right and this is wrong” than I mean it.
FINALLY SOMEONE APRECIATES THE HALO 4 MENU THEME 1:03
I remember loading the game for the first time and just sitting there watching the debris float by listening to this. magical.
I could never unhear how similar it is to the 2005 King Kong game's main menu.
Ah yes, the most emotional (in my opinion) entry in the series. The characterization between our two leads is incredible in this game.
Yeah... halo 4 campaign was better than people give it credit for.
It's sad that people let their nostalgia get in the way of a good experience: Noone is ever going to recreate the original trilogy, except the actual people who made them. Instead, what we got was Halo from a new perspective. For me, it's neither good or bad - it's just different.
Story wise, it’s remarkable. As for gameplay, it’s a step backwards.
Yeah, I agree…… Infinite tried to live up to this, and it was *better* than most of what 343 had done, but Halo 4 still rules over all of 343’s works
Reach, less emotional that halo4? What?
@@paulmartin6209 Reach is a lot more subtle with how they deliver lines and build characters. It probably depends on the person what kind of connection they make with the characters there, whereas Halo 4 is a lot more straightforward:
If you ask 10 people about their experience in Halo 4, you're probably gonna get very similar answers.
The story of Halo 4 means a lot to me right now. I won’t go into detail why. Stepping into the shoes of Master Chief has filled me with inspiration in the past. And lately I just feel lot of grief in my own life. My family is helping me, but I feel so lost and hopeless. Halo is still inspirational to me. But I literally can’t type this with out tears in my eyes. I am not a soldier either, but this story finds a way to connect us all. Thanks for letting us tag along on your journey. Stay blessed and soldier on!
Dr Halsey is definitely one of the most divisive figures in the series. Even the authors for the books disagree on how other view her, some softer, some harder
I personally agree with her, but that’s just me
Again you have to become yourself a villain in order to save humanity, so her doing Spartan project in order to prevent outer space treats like Covenant and Flood (before even humanity know about it) makes sense
I agree with you and with Halsey. I don't see her as a "bad" figure. She just has enough guts and scientific curiosity to do everything she seems neccessary to save humanity. In a way, she is a spartan but of science. Also people don't seem to realise that ONI green lighted everything she did as she worked for them. I don't know if Halsey knew as a young scientist that she would get all the blame if everything went into a light publicly but as of now she knows this very well and still stands by her work as she should and don't try to shift blame to ONI as she should. Her work saved humanity and paved the way for more "humane" Spartans. If they would have waited longer than to start with spartan-2's when they did, humanity would have been doomed. She is neccessary evil and on that i don't think her as evil.
You do need to remember though, the Spartans being the best line of defence against threats like the covenant and the flood was circumstantial and not predictive. The Spartan project was started to face off against any human insurrection that would oppose the militant government. The mjolnir clad fist to keep the people from rebelling. The Covenant and Flood were honestly a very happy occurrence for the moral implications of the program.
It all of a sudden made it okay, just so long as you forget these indomitable heroes of humanity were bred and moulded to kill you specifically, if you stepped too far out of line, and not those Alien Invaders.
@@scot9624 Yeah true, that would bad in 'What If' scenario if Covenant ignore Earth and their colonies, the ONI would be 100% the main antagonist faction
The visuals look soooo good for 2012 if I remember right 343 had to pull off some technical wizardry to make it even run on the Xbox 360
I think the audio was trash on the 360
@@josepedrofariasguimaraes7139it was lol. Could barely hear a thing back then lol
@josepedrofariasguimaraes7139 yes, I don't like to replay halo 4 just for the audio alone. It's awful, very compressed and nonsensical, 95% of the sounds don't feel like they belong to the source of it.
An example is the warthog, the motor sound like a toy that's powered by plastic gears with the pitch very powered up
There is a mod that replaces most of the sounds with old ones or pitch and bass corrects them
Textures were awful though, especially on the character models. Bungie was better at textures. 343 made it so detailed in order to trick the player into thinking it had extremely high graphical fidelity
@@J4RUBY And is even more clear now that we have MCC with the HD textures in Halo 3 from the archive, they still hold surprisingly well for a 17 year old game (JFC I feel old), but Halo 4 really feels dated in texture quality, like they wanted so much variety of textures that the only way it all vould fit in the 8GB CD was by compressing textures and audio to an absurd degree, I've always wanted 343 to release the uncompressed assets and audio
Just thought I'd let you know that some of Halo 4's music (I believe the tracks by Neil Davidge) can get your video demonitized. It's really weird, seeing as it's the only music from Halo that has that issue. Just in case you didn't know:)
Now, let's dive in 😎
ESPECIALLY on the last mission, there’s a long stretch of level where all the audio is 99% music and 1% gun and explosion SFX.
Oh god, thank you for confirming. I got 3 copyright claims for this vid 😂
@@MegMage Yep, that’s Halo 4 for ya. It’s almost like they want people to only make playthrough videos of the Bungie Halos.
@@MegMage that tracks lol
Oh my gosh Wernisagge hii
Fun fact: ( unless someone else brought it up already) i read that the 4 years, 7 months, and 10 days that John was out was the same time between halo 3 and 4. We had to wait all that time to see these 2 again!
Halo 4 is definitely the play through I was most excited to watch!
Glad you were enjoying the music before starting. IMO halo 4 and 5 have very underrated soundtracks
Halo 4! Siuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu. Time to see the movie Forward Unto Dawn!
The Halo 4 theme gives me so many chills on so many levels. Its incredible
After that line "dont make a girl a promise you know you cant keep" immediate teary eyed 40:12 😭😭😭😭
Meg, I highly, *highly*, HIGHLY recommend the Kilo Five books by Karen Traviss which take place between the Halo 3 and 4 games. It goes into some of the nuances of Halsey's behaviour and more importantly how the Spartan IIs cope with the knowledge. Also, they're just really good (and I adore Naomi).
I believe they’re on her list!
this was first released on the xbox 360 which is quite impressive, also this game has amazing music (not that the other music is bad, the halo 4 music is unique) and the emotions that you have from chief that's shown by how he sounds and his body movement is amazing. the environment is probably the best thing about halo 4 to be fair. enjoy playing, and be ready for emotional stuff
What makes Halo 4 really special on the acting side is that it's the only Halo game where during recording the voice actors were usually in the studio together, and so those are real conversations and not just reading off a script.
meh, I find 4 and 5's music to be the worst in the series personally. Didn't have Marty or Salvatori (1-3, ODST, Reach, HW1) and the music wasn't inspired by them like it was in Infinite. Apart from 117, it kinda sounds like Mass effect music to me. Not that ME's music is bad, it just isn't halo-like...
And while the game looks absolutely beautiful (environments, lighting, graphics and Cortana, lol) the art style just doesn't work. Though I def agree with you regarding the environment. Easily the best in the game, and arguably in the entire series.
Cortana has a HUGE*cough cough* personality this game
I absolutely adore Halo 4, it has the most emotional story in the entire Halo series imo, and Jen Taylor does such an amazing job as both Cortana and Halsey
No matter what people say Halo 4 IS A GOOD GAME
I’d say it’s decent. Not the best and FAR, FAR from the worst, but a solid middle ground
@@Rocco049 Shhhh! Is a Good Game
@@Rocco049agreed. I think if they stuck with the original games art design and cleaned up the enemy placement it would’ve been great. It is still solid though.
@@OG_Bobby_Henderson I actually like the art style in most cases aside from elites. I think the only thing holding the game back was the terrible balancing of the promethians because the covenant only levels are great
Absolutely not lol
This intro is already better than the Paramount Halo series, crazy
Mega Bloks holds the license on Halo vehicles and figures. I have the 2013 Mega Bloks set of the USNC Forward Unto Dawn. I never built it, just kept it safe in it's box. One feature of the set is that it is designed to break in half on purpose.
The only other Mega Bloks set I have is the Elite Energy Sword set. That I built and put on a display shelf.
I think people forget that Halsey had the most brilliant mind as a scientist ranging from human science to alien and forunner science and technology so of course the unsc came to her for a solution to human rebellion across the colonies. She had the idea of supersoldiers and the military approved it. Then when people wanted to know who masterchief was at the end of the war. They threw her under the bus saying she was a mad scientist. She’s just always wanted to learn more and as a human being that makes sense.
Halsey didn’t come up with the super soldiers, her Spartans are the 2nd iteration of them. The Orion l or project was before it (Johnson was one of them) overall the project failed. Halsey looking at that projects data came to the conclusion to use children as she said their body’s are more acceptable for augmentations 😊
The first Halo that I bought the same day came out, I even waited outside the store 8 hours to be the frist one to get it, as I played it I fell in love more and more, this is my second favorite Halo of all time I hope you enjoy it Meg
Let's go! Love Halo 4 and been looking forward to this for quite a while.
That theme sounds both very futuristic and incredibly ancient
i can’t wait to see you play through halo 4, it’s gonna be a wild ride. I hope you also watch Halo 4 Forward Unto Dawn, it’s great imo and worth the watch.
Halo 4 is a very divisive game, so I'm interested to see what you think of it. Also, I hope you also watch Forward Unto Dawn
Yes! Forward unto Dawn is the best live action we have of Halo to this Day.
The most underrated installment of this series in my opinion! So good
Oooh we back! So excited for this emotional rollercoaster. While I don't necessarily like the stylistic changes 343i made, I absolutely love this masterpiece in storytelling that is Halo 4. Excited to hear your thoughts as you play through :)
I feel like the later installments of Halo (343) REALLY draw their themes from BladeRunner.
Absolutely love how you just chilled vibin to the menu ost! Sets the tone nicely
there's a lot of parallels between halo 4 and halo 1's story, it's really interesting when you interpret the story in that way
Halo 4 has my favorite iteration of Chief. 343's armor design philosophy is right up my alley; Instead of having a person put into an Iron Man style suit like the previous 3 games, 343 sees it more as a person in a stillsuit with modular pieces attached onto the person. It highlights every pieces in a way that I love so much while also putting more emphasis on the man beneath the armor. Hope you have fun with this one!
This is my favorite game in the series. It took such a more emotional turn from the "first half" of the series, and I wish more people were willing to give it the chance it deserves, even if only from a story and artistry standpoint.
Watching Meg enjoy scores not only from the Halo franchise but other games, shows and movies is really cool to see to be honest. The scores in games and cinema are a staple for setting the esthetic and tone for the story at least in my opinion and not only the scores themselves but the genius minds behind them that provide these works of art and it's overall enjoyable to see Meg recognize that. Can't wait to see you embark further into the Halo journey Meg
Cant say I've seen anyone stream halo 4 and actually listen to the menu music I use to have this on as background noise while painting.
There's a live-action prequel fim to this game titled Halo 4: Forward Onto Dawn.
Last I checked, it was available in full on UA-cam (don't quote me on this).
You should do a reaction.
I miss assassination animations so much, that’s what made halo even more fun to play! Need to bring them back
Noooo way I was just thinking to myself when you’d be playing this. Dreams really do come true
Loved the music here in H4
YESS. This is the game I've been most excited to see you play in the series. So much more insight into characters, I don't love the gameplay but this is one of my favourites in the whole series as far as emotional impact for me.
Edit: Sociopathic probably wasn't the correct choice of words for the intro. That would imply Chief is antagonistic to social norms and I don't believe that's the case. He shows no outward emotion, and stays extremely calm in high stress environments, in psychological terms Chief could be described as having a "flat affect". You could just as easily ascribe it to Psychopathy (which is not inherently negative, mind you), PTSD or even ASD or a range of other psychological traits/disorders.
I’ve always headcanoned Cortana’s dramatic change in appearance as a result of an OS update or something. I mean, its even more believable now that she’s part of Microsoft Windows nowadays.
I just go with Bungie's reason that she just felt like changing up her look.
Awesome as always and Thank You Meg.🐾😇🐾
8:33 there is an “off brand” Lego like toy called Mega that has halo sets. Including 2 (sadly discontinued) forward unto dawn sets.
You can't even really call Mega off brand because Lego actually officially considers them a competitor brand.
I love the soundtrack and the game, so much personality in the chief and cortana
can't wait for you to continue this series some crazy lore in this games missions!
Halsey's right. Fighting the covenant might not have been the original purpose of the Spartans, but without them, humanity would be extinct.
Yeah, John is/was definitely not sociopathic, none of the Spartans were that I recall. I suppose “mildly sociopathic tendencies” is kind of accurate, but war does that to everybody who adapts to it. But John is the greatest Spartan because he follows his heart above all else, he’s always becoming wiser and more empathetic which makes him a better Spartan. John compares himself to a machine a lot, but really this isn’t an objective self-analysis, he says this out of the guilt he feels when deciding to continue onward when a person he cares about dies. All Spartans are still driven by emotions, they’re just so mentally and physically enhanced that people don’t notice it, and so regular people assume that since they’re so capable all the time, then they must be emotionless, but that’s not true.
I like how the prologue establishes Halsey's shady morals... but also that she is not the worst... not by a Longshot. She did the best with the circumstances she found herself in... section 3 would have taken the children with or without her.. she ensured that half of them would survive the process to realize their full potential. But what really made her stand out for me was the moral quandries she would give John in the books... she made him a killing machine under ONI's direction... but it was on her own that she taught him to think for himself and to have a moral compass. ONI still got their weapons. Just not the bots they wanted.
I have a lot of issues with this game but I do have a soft spot for it. They tried something new and it sort of worked and sort of different. It was their response to this criticism that made me really start to dislike these newer games
@@TheAstrobiologistOW for me Infinite wasn’t great either but it rectified a lot of problem I had with 4 and 5. Again, not thrilled with the game but the campaign probably honestly saved my interest in the series imo
Yes! I was literally playing this today was thinking about when were you going to play I'm so happy!
Man, the Halo 4 theme music is something else. Shivers, every time.
Loved the new sounds and instruments used for the OST here by Kazumi who took after Martin O Donnell. New unexplored themes for the forerunners and of course for a new part of the halo series. This is by far my favorite presentation of the chief. Also the Cortana motion capture person coupled with the voice actor was great!
Another point how this game humanizes the chief
10:43 I love the implication that at some point in the last 4 years Cortana got bored enough to rewrite and update John's armor firmware and even make a UI for him
I think you can definitely question Halsey's morals and ethics, but you can't say she is completely wrong. Although the good things she has done is outweighed by the effed up things she has done by a ton.
Also don't be bothered by her calling Chief "John" because despite how she treated the Spartans, she truly cared for them in her own ways by remembering all their names, physique and characteristics, individually because she felt like shouldering the responsibility of becoming their Mother in her own weird and messed up way.
Seeing this in my feed has made my Monday! So glad your playing more Halo! 😇
I just wanted to say that I recently watched through your playthroughs of the rest of the series and have been really looking forward to seeing you play the 343 games. I know a lot of people don't like them, but I personally feel there are aspects in each one that are really cool I think you would appreciate, some of it better then anything in the Bungie games. For Halo 4, I personally think they make Chief and Cortana more interesting then they ever have been while really expanding on their relationship and telling a very personal story. This and Infinite have some of the best character work in the series actually, next to 2 and Reach.
Def the most emotional of the series. Reach was “emotional” too but 4 is in a different way you’ll see. Halo 4s campaign is really really good story wise only complaints a lot of us had was the multiplayer and some of the design choices made. Still a great game tho!
I’ve always really liked 4, 5, and Infinite and I feel like they’re the games where the themes and characterization from the books and other overarching lore show through the clearest. Always thought that was part of why they’re divisive, people won’t get them if they don’t really get Halo overall. You really get it though, I think consequently you’re gonna have a fun time. Looking forward to the coming Halo series!
this game gets a lot of hate from the community and some of it warranted, sure. but I love the direction 343 took this game in so many ways. music, art style, and story in this game are some of my favorite. excited to watch you play! will never forget the feeling of booting this up in 2012 for the first time. would have been 17 at the time.
Respect Dr. Halsey she does care for them especially master chief
I still can't believe this game came out for xbox 360
I could be wrong but my understanding is Lego doesn’t do any tie ins with mature or R rated media. But the Lego rival Mega Bloks doesn’t have the same policy.
This is my favorite version of Chief's personality, last place in armor design though.
Halo 4 is an incredibly touching game
Aside from the artstyle and music director changes, I think everyone’s biggest gripe with this level is the change in ship-class. The FoD like, doubled of tripled in size for the sake of the level. Was that necessary? Maybe, maybe not, but its the one thing that cant easily be explained by “oh its just a different style”.
Love it, if you're in it for the MC x Cortana relationship, then this is the peak imo :)
6:28 was she wrong though? Remember John was the result of her work, and it is very unlikely that humanity would have survived without him, not to mention how outmatched humanity would have been without the spartans
A lot of people don't like this game, but idc what anyone says, it's pretty good. I don't like the multiplayer very much but the campaign has some excellent moments and top tier performances from Jen Taylor and Steve Downes. It's not my favorite Halo but I think you're gonna love this one Meg
Definitely check out Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn if you get the chance. It’s a live-action promotional film for Halo 4 and gives more context and backstory for the campaign!
In any case, excited to continue the journey with you!
I’d definitely hesitate to put the chip with Cortana back into my suit after she glitched. Maybe keep her in a cargo pocket for a while. I’d also be a little concerned about the code for my suit she worked on while I was frozen.
The H4 title music always gave me funeral vibes
I hate Halo community, 343 really do a great job in this game
343 also hates us so your not alone
halsey was right with the spartan program. she saved humanity
"Oh, I don't NEED to kill them."
*Proceeds to kill them anyway* 😂
Woohoo, celebration time 🎉🎉
A lot of people don't like this game, and yet I have a few friends and this game is their favorite Halo game in the entire series and I just think it is interesting how divided the community is and how they feel about Halo 4.
It's interesting how the dynamic has sorta changed over time. Many of the people who hated it originally have come around on it while others have stayed pretty steadfast. On the side of the people who liked Halo 4 from the start though the dynamic is also kinda interesting where some people have stayed pretty consistent in liking it while others have actually grown to like it even more in the face of disappointment from 5 and Infinite.
@@TheAstrobiologistOW it's called sunken cost (in the franchise) viewing middling and non-faithful halo games as better than the lowest common denominator. expectations lower and you begin to rose tint all the stuff you were more critical of before you were jaded by the miss-steps. halo 4 is a decent game, but it is a new generation's halo, and not really a halo game by any stretch other than branding and association/trimmings.
people that like this game also grew up (and grew to love) MCU so, you know what sort of audience you're cultivating and polling. mouth-breathers
Marty ODonnel ended up not doing the soundtrack for this game which is why it seems so different yet so similar
I'm going to say this out loud. Some Halo fans are not going to want to hear it but this is the best Halo. He plays the best it looks the best. It fleshes out parts of Chief an cortana's relationship so well.
It also had those amazing free Spartan episodes.
343 should have kept this art style.
I remember the first time I got to that start screen and heard that music and I know like 'oh man..'
It caught me.
This is one of the few pieces of media to actually make me cry😢
This game was a masterpiece
You asked if there are any Lego Halo sets out there. There aren't, as it's not a theme under Lego. However, there are Mega Construx Halo sets, which are actually quite good for "off-brand Lego". I own a few. :)
pretty sure that they could make another Cortana with ease the problem is the new Cortana wont be the same person its kind of like when you clone someone that clone is not you
It’s easy to understand why you’d hate Halsey because yeah, she kidnapped kids against their will, replaced them with clones that rapidly died, and put the children through intense rigorous training and killed many of them. And for the time of humanity’s position, with them only having a war against human rebels and insurgents, one can argue that Halsey had no way of knowing about the Covenant. But if anything the Covenant’s arrival shortly after the Spartans were made was really just really good timing. I wouldn’t call Halsey egotistical when she’s actually right about her Spartans saving humanity. If it weren’t for her Spartans all of humanity, actually ALL of the entire galaxy, would’ve been killed and wiped out by the Halo Rings.
So yeah you can still be mad at her for kidnapping the kids, but if it literally wasn’t for her, we wouldn’t have the Master Chief nor the entire Halo franchise. She was a necessary bullet that needed to be bitten and swallowed.
Four years of cryo sleep. The first thing he does is fight. I mean, the fight is his purpose.
Yeah, I think you're going to really like Halo 4.
I'm sure that you will love Halo 4
Seeing MegMage started playing Halo 4 be like:
*Play Charlton Heston laugh.mp4*

Never forget that the sangheili saved us all from Mark Zuckerberg
They wanted to make the covenant feel more alien again, so they took away them talking in english.
Halo 4 Is gonna be awesome!
Been waiting for this!
I’m excited to see someone else play through halo 4. It’s my personal least favorite Halo just because I don’t like the gun play (feels like I’m using plastic weapons) but I want to give it a chance. I really enjoyed the story of it but just not playing it myself if that makes sense
Just a reminder to please not discuss any lore that Meg has not come across yet - be it in books, cinematics, or elsewhere. (She wants to discover it all herself.) Thank you!
Most of the lore she won't see anyway, she definitely won't read the books
@@TAYW1997she’s already read fall of reach
Has meg watched the forward unto dawn film? It's a prequel to this game. I think she would enjoy it.
@@TAYW1997 she is reading the books.
Please watch Halo forward unto dawn. You'd love it i think. Theu released it before the game came out to market it
8:37 there are halo megablocks
Something 343 does very right is put more of a spotlight on Chief as a human being and a hero, though I think there are a few other things worth a bit of criticism in this game. I do think that you will like the story quite a lot based on the things you enjoyed about Halo's universe up to this point.
It's a good thing that you've been following the expanded universe content, because 343's worst habit is that a lot of it goes from "interesting worldbuilding" to "mandatory to know what is even happening."
This game has the worst multiplayer in the series, probably the only one i'd call outright bad, and unfortunately I think that rubs off on people's impressions of this game quite a bit. Don't be worn down too much if you maybe see an uptick in negativity.
She's going to love this game.
I hope you enjoy Halo 4. I've been a fan since the begining and H4 definately has one of my favourite stories
I like this one purely because we get a lot of chief and cortana moments
