Skin will alter pH . Example water pH 7 , lemon pH 2-4 . 5.5 -7 pH soaps ellam synthetic detergent s ethula pH alter pana mudiyum. Homemade soaps 8 la irukum,ethula pH matha mudiyathu but pH isn't big issue with homemade soaps. Its all about saturated and unsaturated fatty acid level.Cold process or hot process method of soap making nalla irukum. MELT AND POUR WORST(hidden animal fats). All commerical soaps are palm oil based one. Onnu soaps neengale seiyanum illana nallungu maavu powder machine la nalla arachi , previous day night ye soak panidanum water la 2-4 spoons depends on usage level .. morning use for bathing ..face pack kuda atha potukalam for 10 mins using tomato juice or milk

Thanks for sharing this. My 2 cents for your doubt if we can never make soap which is skin friendly, we actually cannot. Soap is made using Caustic Soda and Oil through a process called saponification. Caustic soda's pH is close to 14 and whatever soap you are seeing all use the same process. They don't go an extra mile to reduce the pH further. Soap by default is alkaline. I am not sure how Sebamed achieves this, but soaps are not that bad as we think. For a soap to be a soap, it will have the alkaline pH. Anyway we wash with water (ph 7) after whatever the soap pH we may have used, which ultimately is not the pH of your skin. That's the reason we are supposed to use toner to balance the pH. I am saying this because I make my own soap from pure coconut oil, which is really gentle on my baby, but the pH of it is 7.5-8. There are only 2 ingredients - Caustic Soda and coconut oil. If we try to reduce the pH, the soap will not be a soap/cleansing bar, it will have more and more additives like other chemicals, which may be more harmful than the simple oil-caustic soda combination. I can understand how pears have oils listed in their ingredients, that's exactly what a soap is made of. There are a few UA-cam channels for making soap, which explains about this pH stuff on soap and how it is actually not as scary as we think. The catile soap which is considered as the purest (pure olive oil+caustic soda) also has higher pH. The cost of handmade Castile soaps are really really high. I hope you will explore more and that I have triggered more questions in you! :)

My neighbour is making soaps called fiya.. pure Coconut oil soap.. doesnt contain cow fat(which is used for thickening).. so this soap will dissolve easily when compared to others.. if u submerge the soap in water directly, it will dissolve easily. So we have to wet the hands and then use it.. the soap is actually good and non drying.. but he has started now only I don't know if he is marketing to many places
