We may be wondering how the composers managed to write these musical excerpts, and how they must feel after… such as Verdi, Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff, Puccini, Strauss, Gershwin and of course, Mahler ! Post-romantic music is the peak of the beauty of art.
No its pre romantic and post jazz that is peak of art's beauty, and I was not wondering as well, I always knew, and post A.I. will be the greatest age as well.
Extraordinary… literally transcendent. Mahler’s tremendous music here is simple motifs, but sophisticated harmonies and brilliant orchestration. And those resolutions until the last chorus chord… once it ended, you can’t imagine anything greater than it !
This… this is what a life is for. The accomplishment of one of the most divine creative visions in all of history. This symphony is the apotheosis of genius, beauty and emotion in all of art. An extremely brilliant and utterly grandiose display of sheer human potential. Mahler really tapped into the sublime and graced all of humanity with his music. May your Opus live on for eternity, Maestro.
I’m leaving this comment right after I’ve heard “Hör auf zu beben”, and expressing my appreciation. I’ve been always curious how Mahler wrote this beautiful music.
Your analysis and editing is so wonderful that it feels wrong to be able to watch this for free. Really really incredible work! Any chance you will do something similar for Tchaikovsky's symphonies?
What a bold statement Mr. Leonard. Did these composers actually ever mentioned Mahler at all? I have the impression that Mahler star is rather your invention.
It's not even a question of agreeing or not. It's simply untrue. Mahler's influence was limited. This quote says more about Bernstein's tastes than about the history of music.
The beauty of music is in its subjectivity. Bernstein is by no means an all-deciding authority on classical music, but someone with a profound personal connection to Mahler’s music that I share myself. However, discourse and conversation about it is so much more important than anyone being “right”. I’m curious to hear your opinion further-what do you think is different? What makes you disagree?
@@josephleites1456 I just don't agree that the spirit of 20th century music is somehow best captured in the music of Mahler. I think largely the music of late-romantic composers like Rachmaninoff and Mahler is beautiful but hardly typical of the time period, and rather the most vital developments in the tradition came from composers like Ravel, Debussy, Messiaen, Scriabin and Stravinsky and many more
Actual chills. I sat in silence for a solid 5 minutes after this ended

Lots of hard work and learning.

We are going to! My partner and I are yet to decide which passage from him. There are so many great ones. Thanks for the feedback!

Shouldn’t the key center at 3:39 be Gb?
Amazing video btw. This is my favorite climax of any music.
I make a lot of silly typing mistakes. Thanks for pointing that out! I've just made a disclaimer note in the description. MM
Thx for the videos😊
Will you also do Rachmaninov?
Soon!
Hier ist das erste deutsche Fernsehen mit der Tagesschau!
Sie hätten keine bessere opening wählen können 😆
@@-MomentsMusicaux- The Tagesschau jingle really is almost exactly the climax of this symphony, isn't it? lol
Qué música, Dios mio...
The music is obviously great, but that Bernstein quote is insane to me. I dont think I could disagree more

Beyonce and Lady Gaga are at their greatest when they are most like Mahler too?
Mahler 8 finale is objectively better than
I disagree. Especially with the "objective" part.
