- Thoughts about the Irish Setter Elk Tracker 880 boot, after having used them for awhile in Northern Minnesota, along the Gunflint Trail and in the BWCA.

I have a set of elk trackers. I've had them for 7 years. They are still water proof. The sole is pretty much gone. But I have heavily used these boots, and I am amazed how long they have lasted
Nice. Do you seal them at all? They’ve held up for me really well too.
@@Jetpack2001 yes I sealed them with Huberts shoe grease about every month of use
Thought about resoling them? Goodyear Welt construction allows for resoling and might be worth it instead of buying new?
Great video! I just picked up a pair of these yesterday. Extremely comfortable on day one.
Thanks for the comment! Glad the boots are working out for you ... mine have been working out great, too.
Had mine for 10yrs. 1000gm insulation, I hunt in central Sask. Best boots I've ever owned. I'll never buy another pair because these ones will never wear out.
Great review.
Thank you!
You mentioned not for “long hiking.” Do you have a recommendation for that type of hunting?? (Colorado Elk)
I have these for hunting, not horrible but they tore up my heels pretty bad when I first wore them hiking up and down a steep hill (about 3 miles to our spot and 3 miles back) for 5 days, but given more time to break in before some insane hiking distances I think they would be fine! Maybe go for more insulated stuff if it gets cold cold though
@@wyatt_COTW I’ve had mines for around a year wear them most days and they are definitely the best boot I own and have ever owned 600 gram insulation is warm all year round and extremely comfortable
@@ryandonnelly817 they are definetly good boots, just didn't give enough time to wear in before using on some aggressive terrain is all
@@wyatt_COTW yes I walked on normal Terrain first as I live in Scotland and work out hunting and up hills most of the time I didn’t want blisters or the whole boot to be solid
What kind of pants are those. I like how it got a draw string on the cuff of the pants.
Army fatigues … I got ‘em in a surplus store years ago. There’s a ton of different style of army pants out there but these ones are patterned after Vietnam-era fatigues, ripstop cotton and has the drawstring cuffs. I’m sure you can find reproductions for sale online. Cheers!
How have they held up
So far so good! No complaints and I haven’t noticed any unusual wear or defects.
@@Jetpack2001 ok thank you I am getting a pair and didn't know if they lasted
2 years in on mine and soles have pulled loose. I don't wear them a whole lot either.
How’s the tread on them now after about a year?
They are probably a little worn down but very usable. I'm pretty sure you can get them replaced though? Could be wrong about that.
When it comes to work boots, you will ALWAYS pay a high price. With high quality boots that price is the money you pay. With low quality boots the price you pay is the fatigue your body will suffer.
