Since this was the final episode, I can only assume what happened next was Perez fired everyone and sold what remained of the company to someone else.

I would assume a "final season" was considered but literally at the time this episode first aired, truTV ended the whole "reality TV" thing and started cancelling their "reality" shows.
That's when truTV started going downhill.
