Oooh I was interested in that Sorrow duology despite not liking another book by the author! I was a little let down by Nevermoor so the fact that you thought the next book was a big improvement has me interested! YES Cadence was my favorite in book 1 too!
I think you could enjoy the first book in the State of Sorrow duology, I liked that it seems a bit more mature than the average YA fantasies can be but not losing that magic and intrigue that still make them good! It was just a bit sad that it didn’t sustain for both books!
I recently finished Nevermoor (finally haha) and I also have Wundersmith to read. I was in between 4 and 5 stars with Nevermoor so hearing you say you think Wundersmith is even better has got me super excited! I want to explore the world more, and it sounds like I will get that experience =D I think the series is definitely one of the most exciting things to come out of children's publishing in recent years!
Ooohhhhg yessss! This is exciting, go forth and read Wundersmith, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did! Haha I think you’re right, this series is really exciting and it’s felt like a while since there’s been one with such broad scope! Hoping it continues to flourish!!
As someone who didn't particularly enjoy Harry Potter, but still craves that essential middle grade fantasy experience, the Nevermoor series really really intrigues me...It's definitely comforting as well to hear you confirm it gets better as it goes on,,which I feel like should be a given even though most series in reality tend to go downhill has they expand. Will absolutely be checking it out!
There's definitely more available to sink your teeth into in the Nevermoor series which the first few HP books definitely don't have before they just get gritty, so it might be one you could enjoy! Haha, yeah, I totally agree about most series going downhill the more they grow, I hope this one sustains the positive growth though for all the future stories!!
I am rather fond of the Nevermoor, and hearing you talk about Wundersmith reminded me of all the things I enjoyed. I haven't heard of the Melinda Salisbury books previously, but alas, alack, and all that I'm not sure I will get around to reading them. I give this information to say that I rather appreciate how much time you've put into your reviews, and I wish the earlier book had been more inspiring.
MCS-books I completely forgot to mention I listened to Wundersmith in February. I’ve never enjoyed the voice Gemma Whelan puts on for Cadence in the audiobook, and wonder what my impression would be should I read the physical edition.
I'm definitely getting to State of Sorrows soon! I know I say that all the time xD But it is actually on my Summer Break tbr :D I would like to get into Nevermore, but I just have so many open series :P
It's a shame Song of Sorrow didn't quite live up to the first book! I'm quite intrigued to see what I think of this if it doesn't focus as much on the political aspect - it was my favourite part. And I have to admit I'm even more intrigued about the ending now ahaha
Wundersmith sounds delightful😍 I might need to get on the Nevermore books at some point.

Hahaha, Yeah nevermoor seemed really popular when it first came out but I haven’t heard as much about Wundersmith, will you pick up this second one?
