I’ve seen her live about 5 times, she is always excellent. Her debut album is exceptionally good, but her whole catalog is consistently great. Dig deeper. Although this is a solo piano song, she has often surrounded herself with other great musicians.
As soon as I saw your Iron Madien T-shirt I thought "Winter would make a great rock song." I think she's something of a classical sound, but also a rock sound about her which is what makes her unique. As for "Winter" i can't say why, but it actually makes me cry. I think it's the loss of a parent, which at 43 I'm lucky to have not experienced, but I know it will come.
she's a musical genius and i wholeheartedly recommend you dive down the tori rabbithole with no reservations. i guarantee you'll be rewarded, and then some.
Always go for live with Tori. In my opinion that is where her unique art comes through. She is a composer, but also very spontaneous as a performer. There are numerous great live performances on youtube. Her 1998 NY sessions are great (Precious Things, Waitress, IIEEE....). There are actually multiple great Precious things live performances. I like her sunny Florida performance of 'Cooling' due to a great piano intro. Her 'Blood Roses' live performances should seen to catch another side of her. She does great covers also, check 'Seems like Teen Spirit' from Montreux 92 and 'Thank You' from Montreaux 91. That's enough to get started.
Try Precious Things next. You've definitely got a feel for her style. She's definitely a rock star - her singing style seems largely based on Robert Plant, and she writes songs in a way that they could be played on guitar.
Awesome reaction! could you react to HammerFall - The End Justifies, it's a really fast and classic metal song that came out this year along with their 13th album
