Duel2017 is one of the greatest KDrama that I watched, I'm so proud that I watched it. I'm really thankful for OCN , Yang Se Jong and the whole cast , writer and director of Duel for their great work and making me able to watch such an enormous drama.

That's why he was the first one to land the nickname of "monster rookie" at the time. I think Yang Se Jong is cautious with the roles he picks, so he doesn't do so many dramas, but so far his career is flawless.
He has a large fan base and the critics have definitely noticed him which is why he was dubbed the monster rookie. He only played a second lead twice before getting lead roles which is very hard to do as a rookie. He has won many awards so I can not say that YSJ is under rated, but this excellent drama is underrated as most housewives which is the largest market for kdramas prefer to watch romcoms and melodramas.

First time watching a kdrama that literally made me cry! I was attached so bad, to the characters and the plot. I decided to check it out and I can't believe what I was missing out on, I'm in love with Sejong the way he nailed all those roles he made me emotional on multiple occasions. finished watching duel last night and god the ending!!! (spoilers ahead!!) Like I knew the only way Sunghoon could be redeemed was to sacrifice and I was preparing for it but that little hope in me wanted the brothers to be happy together bc we didn't get that many moments between the two in the whole drama. and when he died, I just broke down!! 😭 then again when Miraw talked with Sungjoon, then again when we visited his urn 1 year later! 😭😭 the drama was so fast paced and focused on thriller for the first half but it had so much heart in it in the 2nd, would recommend it to anyone!

But strangely, in interview (2018) hyesun said that she's admired him for his work on last year (2017). I thought it was Temperature of Love. BUT, if she admired him because of his acting in this drama, i'm BIG AGREE. How come a rookie has dominant characters and nailed it so well? HOW COME???? He's the future of korean star! Anyway, Yang Se Jong's performances in both Duel and ToL are top class, absolutely mesmerizing. If you add his excellent work in Dr Romantic and Saimdang, he was without doubt the most talented rookie ever in the world of Korean drama when he debuted.
