- We take our narrowboat down Foxton Locks on the Grand Union Canal, the longest, steepest staircase locks in the UK, for the first time. Was it as scary as we thought it would be? How long did it take us? Join us on our journey down the flight!
Hello! We're Caroline and Pete, and in 2021, after 10 years living in Texas, we sold up and moved back home to the UK to live full time on a 60ft narrowboat with our 3 dogs! Join us in our day to day life as we continuously cruise the canals of the UK. All of the ups, and the downs and everything in between!

You did a wonderful job of going through all of those locks. I see why Caroline is in good shape, doing all that walking around and keeping busy opening and closing the locks. Thank you for all the information and wonderful video of it all.

Beautiful scenery! I love your plants too, especially the one up front. My father and brother-in-law once rented a narrow boat many years ago, but unfortunately it began to emit black smoke, passers by were holding their noses, haha, so their idilic trip was halted and they were forced to bring it back and that was that. (I guess there wasn't another available). Keep up the great filming on your beautiful boat. Cheers from Ontario, Canada.
Thanks so much! That really doesn’t sound like the idyllic holiday they had been planning at all 😳. Thankfully we haven’t had anything drastic happen yet, some battles against the wind and a few things wrapped around the propeller but that’s it so far, fingers crossed! In the country you always want to drive to not have to open farm/ranch gates, but narrow boat gates are on a whole other level.
They really are, and Foxton locks are certainly a spectacular sight 😊

Great job guys, lovely dogs.This reminded me of my first time in a narrow boat, hired from Foxton over 50 years ago. After being shown the basics of driving a boat the first set of locks was the Foxton staircase! Baptism of fire!

Thanks so much! They have really started to fill out now and look even better! We loved planting and having a great variety of flowers in our back garden in Texas and wanted to have the same on the boat in some fashion 😊

Hi Leigh! We had one hot day cruising last week in 90 degrees, which is unusually hot, and we said how we do not miss the Houston heat and humidity at all! You’re right, Jasper, Hamish and Poppy really have just slipped into their new life so easily and seem to love it as much as we do 😍

Well spotted! Total Torchy’s lovers here. Especially their queso! We were so happy when they opened one 10 mins from our house instead of having to drive to downtown Houston. And it was our kids’ first meal whenever they came home from their out of state colleges ❤️ 🌮

"Make it trashy", in fact, just make *everything* trashy while you're at it! 😋 I hang out a lot in Austin so I was thrilled when they chose my neighborhood to branch out of town first. We now have two locations, each under 2 miles from my house so they get me no matter which direction I'm driving now.
The thought of these locks scares me to! We are still on target for the launch of our new narrowboat at the end of August so keep your vlogs coming, we can learn from you, you seem to have it down to a fine art 🥰

spent many hours down there when I lived in a village not so far away.......did you know there is a very big prison just a short way away...Gartree Prison, home to Europe’s largest population of life-sentenced prisoners......
No we didn’t know about the prison, that’s interesting! It was a great experience going through the iconic flight. Looking forward to doing the Caen Hill flight one day too 😊

Hi from Spain. Your boat is an interesting colour - I'm never sure whether it is duck-egg green or duck-egg blue we used to paint it on the undersides of model aeroplanes.
Hola! I guess we call it duck egg blue. The official paint colour name is Pastel Turquoise! We are so happy with our very snap decision choice of colour, and get so many lovely comments 😊
