Compatibility of each device is dependent on what features you want from the chip as well as whether or not your have the handlebar controls. Peartune works without handlebar controls, While the Speedfun we stock requires handlebar controls.

Without having access to trek diagnostic tools it is unknown what they can and can't see in the logs, From experience the majority of people do not have log related issues as long as they remove the chips before taking the bike to a dealer. Some bikes you can see data such as distance travelled per battery charge which would be a lower value when running a bike with a chip.
