The rhythm Petra was talking about totally makes sense, I have a background in dance choreography and I often find that dance is a great foundation for climbing, not just flexibility but you already feel very aware of how your body is moving

A friend of mine who is an ex ballet dancer became a 7b climber in less than a year. At 33 years old. He is obviously flexible but also has more body consciousness.

Super cool that Petra is a 3rd generation climber… you don’t hear that very often! Great video, Hannah! 🎉

    that video was amazing.
    1. you looked very strong, on the blue boulder at the beginning you went all in and pulled out some very technical and risky move to make the climb.
    2. interesting about Petra mentioning that she is using music to help her complete some coordination movement. never heard or could have tought about something like that.
    3. that gym looks so nice ! it got a traverse from 1st floor to second floor, and amazing spray wall, a comp style section. i would be so hyped up to climb in one of these gym.

I too thought the music analogy was really interesting. Although very different analogy, Johnny Dawes describing the tension of chopping an onion being like placing hand or feet on a hold or climbing being a like a wrestling match or a dance. Its what makes climbing so beautiful in that it is so individual how your body will feel when climbing. Learning the body and discovering yourself is what climbing should be all about

Doubly so, because Elys (such a beautiful gym!) is precisely the place where I’ve been collecting my very first climbing experiences over the past few weeks! So to see you and Petra doing the same boulders I could actually practice on is really cool (well, in theory - the boulders you picked still look very intimidating to me 😅)
