Thanks, it was a very low mileage 504. Had under 50K miles. The reason being these late 70's Peugeot's had numerous issues with carburetors, emissions etc. The company had a habit of making USA only emissions and safety stuff, and not really spare parts to replace them. Not to mention lack of information, and training too..
Beautiful cars. I had 3 404s and a 504. back in the 70s and 80s. With the 504s you could dive into corners and keep you momentum going, brilliant B road car.
Thats little legend. My Daily car is a citroen CX from 84. These Peugeot are bullet proof, won many african rallies (ua-cam.com/video/xjDdHU3Payg/v-deo.html&pp=ygUQNTA0IHRheGkgYWZyaXF1ZQ%3D%3D at a time when the rally cars were much more near production cars than now), in many african countries, you can still find now 504 (or even his ancestor 404) used as taxi. ua-cam.com/video/QNcu097XR4U/v-deo.html&pp=ygUQNTA0IHRheGkgYWZyaXF1ZQ%3D%3D
JuanRevenge: Just don't take any long road trips in a 504 when it's snowing...you will freeze...small heater-core can't even keep the windshield clear when it's cold. Then there is the issue of our DOT bumpers....they defeat most of the Front crumple zone features and turn the 504 into a death trap.....US 504 goes down with one of the worst high-frequency impact score ever recorded. Owned many 504 Diesels back in the day (did many Turbo Diesel/5 Speed swaps with a 604 TD air cleaner) along with the 505's easier on the ears Ring&Pinion. Gas 504s were never popular...it was mostly Diesel 4speed/3sp auto sedans and wagons, But always (then) with dead 505s abundant....take a 504...and make it into a quiet/low rev cruiser. If you know what models used the 2.76-3.08s Final drives and matching speedo worms (taken from the transmissions of the donor differential...owning and driving a 504 at freeway speeds can be quite pleasant....not to forget, respectable MPG.
Your are very right about the heaters. From the 203-to the 504's, heating was a after thought. I didn't know about the USA bumpers making things worse, although I'm not surprised. After this 504 left, I took a pause from Peugeot's for a while. Now there is a Auto 404 sedan in the 504's place. Just sits for now, but it is nicer to be around. That 504 spent most of the last 40 years sitting in a shed. ..
This reminds me,back in 1985 after has visited my parents and relatives in Seattle for thanksgiving Day, I have drove back to Ontario California by myself, with this Peugeot 504 ,the trunk pack full of food and soda, in the back seat has 2 pillow a blanket and a sleeping bag, the snow has start to come down heavy, after passing Olympia, the temperature inside the car start dropping to freezing point( so cold) 🥶,I had to wrap the blanket around my legs, put the sleeping over my head, has been stopped twice by the states patrol, that’sone of the crazy experience I had. .
Scott Van: Had a 504 Diesel with the Optional ARA Air Conditioning.......I removed the expansion-valve and went to the hardware store (bought the SAE pipe fittings) and turned it into a very nice toasty Heater.........more so with the Factory Peugeot winter grill shutter on the grill.
Hi, yes these are, and were very good cars. The only things to really watch out for is Vapor lock with gas engines(in warmer areas). Some of the twin carburetor models in the USA had serious issues with this. If you want a simple easy car, then get a diesel model.
Here in the US anything Peugeot is hard to find. Though when you do it is often cheap! One must be okay with doing there own repair work. No garage wants anything to do with French cars....
the "504" was my fave model of Peugeot!!
I'm glad to see that our French and European brands are appreciated ✌️
When I was in Egypt in 93 these were being used as taxi cabs. I also rode in one in the Azores. Very rare here in the states.
I enjoyed every second of the drive...what a car!

very beautiful this car .a real French touch .I didn't know that we can find 504 model in the US
Yes, most of the Peugeot models were sold here until 1991-92 ish. This car had 47K miles on it.
There is nothing "odd" ,the 504 has had one of the longest and most successful production run.Was made in Nigeria till 2007.
Magnifique 👍👍😍
Niiiice ❤
How reliable is this peugeot? I keep hearing about French cars have some quality and reliability issues. Apparently not true with the 504?
The 504 is bulletproof

I use today a 1977 GLD european vers.,remember my father's 1976 diesel US model but manual gearbox.
I do love a diesel 504, but wow are they slow. In the later turbo 505 sedans, they finally got it right...
Is it a TI
was the 504 a rwd or fwd car
rwd
this car strong as a tank
ik vind alle klassieke peugeots mooi

@@dmcnamara9859 True, I put 190 degree thermostats in the Diesels. The hotter thermostat and grill cover make a huge difference.
