I’m torn between liking Umaru and hating her. I like her because she’s so adorable and funny but I hate her because of the way she treats her poor brother sometimes. Edit: because people keep asking, yes I do have a sibling. I have 4 siblings in fact. And I’m the oldest of them all.
And that is the sole reason of why i hate her character, she is a slacker and treats her brother like a slave AND I CAN'T STAND PEOPLE OR CHARACTERS LIKE THAT.
Meh from my perspective, she is pretty thankful and understanding, lives a healthy social life, and does genuinely love her brother. Wish my siblings would drop the cheeky playful banter every now and then. They would worry if I was suddenly missing though so that's nice. That's my opinion though.
For me as an older brother this is exactly how some of my younger sisters Specifically my youngest acts sometimes she always tries to guilt me into doing things for her but as soon as I'm gone for a bit she runs to me at full speed crying that I was gone for too long

You may not know it but sometimes a mischievous little sibling can brighten your day ya know. Personally, they don’t always have to respect you. Because if that’s the case there’s no heartfelt conflicts, it’s what makes having a sibling fun, you fight each other, take care of each other, disagree with each other, and all those things. So if anything, I highly disagree with you.

I swear in the anime, whenever she appears as the regular girl she's in her 'public' persona, and when she's in her chibi form that basically shows she's relaxed and switched to her 'private' persona where she's lazy and mischevious. In actuality she's still the same person and still appears the same to everyone else, but to us its just part of the art style so all the silly stuff she does in private is exaggerated and cartoony on purpose.
