I went thru Heathrow transfer security yesterday flying from Rome to Chicago. I forgot how ridiculously awful and inefficient Heathrow security is. I breezed through Rome but once we got to Heathrow the security lines were absolutely glacial. Each bag was scanned for about 10 minutes and at least 80% were flagged for search. These were bags that made it through Rome security and were not coming from the outside. The back up was terrible, with each agent then taking another 15-30 minutes to look through each bag, swab everything and then slowly repack it all. There were many people waiting and it took at least 45 minutes. Our incoming flight was already late due to Heathrow not having a gate for us so our layover was short. We barely made it to our plane, they had to hold the bus for us. We are older and sprinting across the airport put us both at risk. Once we arrived in Chicago for another transfer, we were through security in 10 minutes. Heathrow has shot to the top of airports I will shun at all costs. And I travel quite a bit.
Work on YOUR staff shortages before you preach to anyone. I'm from the US, been privileged to fly to several countries, I've never seen lines, or queues, as long as the ones I've seen at Heathrow. Not even here in the US, and our airports are abhorrent!
@@dianahussain5066i'm sorry but JFK and SF are so much better organized and SF isn't even a large airport. Also, what I hate is that British system when they make u wait in the main crowded lounge for your gate to come up until last minute. Just awful making u wait like cattle
Preach to anyone? Man I'm just watching this cause I've never been through an airport before and I'm about to fly to italy and i was feeling stressed about the security. This is a fine video idk why people are so mad about it
Gatwick sucks Heathrow is better premium security at Gatwick was slower than normal and if your bags got selected for secondary search (none of my group I travelled with had there bags pulled luckily) but the guy was like it takes 3 mins dont be a bitch and mess it up the queue for secondary search is 40 mins
Can anyone clarify if Express Parking permits at Heathrow Airport for the use of regular pencils or mechanical pencils? I've checked the site, but I couldn't find any information on this. Your help would be appreciated!
@@mitchellconner2952 doesn't matter. I just was pulled for a bag of cookies because they thought they saw something sharp on the scanner. My other bag was pulled because my hairbrush looked suspicious.
@heathrowairport I am on the autistic spectrum last December I was harassed verbally by your security going through hold it is a race issue because I am white and the guy at security was Muslim
Lufthansa flights are rarely ontime from Birminham that is an entirely different issue. The queues that form every morning is entirely the fault of Birmingham airport,, airport that face the same security screening as other airports. Blaming passengers for being confused is so childish. Many of these passengers have made journeys (and paid extortioate car parking) the evening before to drop their checked luggage. The airport is alsp making a fortune with its lottery of selling fast track tickets. I am sure that the vast majority of passengers would do whatever it takes to ensure they catch their flights. The manager of Birmingham airport should resign and the facility needs to be managed correctly instead of blaming its customers that it is fleecing as well as stressing. Charge for dropping passengers, charge for trolleys, its a farce and worse its an international farce, this is whow Birmingham is representing the United Kingdom to its foreign customers. Worse than a third world countries airport.

First time through, all around good advice and a good experience through. Was very busy, but felt well managed.

yes
Are you sure that's 90 min? I had to run to the gate since my flight was shown 30 min before departure.
In want to be a pilot at British airways
The liquids and electronic rules are changing here next summer, no?
yeah I’m pretty sure it’s June they change

you’ll be asked to take them off

will i have to take my hearing aids off while going through the scanner..update .no they were fine with them but my toothpaste got tested lolol
no

Are pencils or mechanical pencils allowed? I can’t find anything on the site
yes
Liquid rule is so stupid. A lot of airports have upgraded their scanner while LHR chose not to.
I read the upgrade was gonna happen in June this year. So it still hasn't happened yet?
@@Kyubone i went there early june and they are still doing the same shit
Still haven't done it. The whole scanning process seems really backwards.
Travelling is demeaning and a chore.

Disgusting service at this AP and people are racist against certain nationality.
Especially the airline flight security staff (lots of Indian origin ladies).
