let me know if it works because i heard about it and apparently not possible.
also just watching the video you see it go from 116 to 115 so also just shows you can't.
still interested if you do get it to work though
it's misinformation, you can't. Otherwise there wouldn't be much point in going to pokestops
you can't it is miss informed if you watch the video he had 116 before he threw it then he still lost one and went down to 115. I've tried it a lot and never got it to work and I'm level 16

You can CLEARLY see in the video that in #4 they have 116 pokeballs and when they "recover it" they had 115

Picking up missed pokeballs is a HUGE feature that I bet millions of people missed out on. I wish these things were explained-- maybe a basics tutorial. I learned everything about this game from either experience, or word of mouth.

A huge feature that doesn't exist. You can't pick up missed pokeballs.
It is not true tho you can even see that in the vid he starts with 116 ten after he "gets the pokeball back" hes at 115

It was a bug, it was never a feature. They made this game to make money. They want you to go through as many pokeballs as possible to get people to buy more

+Janos Horvath I think you might exagerat a bit pokeballs are basically free, as long as you have a pokestop nearby you can farm up to three pokeballs each 5 minutes, I don't think they intended to trick you so you would buy more of them with such a simple way of farming
ok, then how do they have as much money as they do now is such a short period of time? if you can prove to me that more than 3/4s the people who play PG knew that trick while playing the game and who DIDNT go out and use micro transactions the first day cause they ran out of pokeballs, then ill believe your statement. otherwise you are just arguing for the sake of arguing, which is pointless, cause my arguement is still valid no matter what you say.

It doesn't really work
It does work. The number under your screen doesn't increase, but if you check your inventory, you'll see that it does increase. Just tested it.

Mason Hays Check right before you catch a pokemon how many pokeballs you have in your inventory. Then when you're catching a pokemon, count how many pokeballs you use and pick up. Then check your inventory afterwards and you should see the ones you picked up got added. At least that's what happened with me.
The animation makes it seem like it returns. but it doesn't.

No, in fact based off my phone. Turning the camera OFF helps saves a ton on battery life. So I just naturally turn it off to start now.
I bought a new phone recently that handles AR it's not a big differiance
I prefer to play without the AR , just makes it easier.

It does not work. This has been tested and proven. You can even watch when he tries to "recover" the ball in #4. The counter doesn't even go back up.
It does work, it's just difficult to actually tap the ball. I've had times where I've hit it continuously, but it didn't register. You know it works when it glows white and appears back.
+Caroline This has already been disproved. Tapping the ball simply skips to your next throw faster.

+ICANHAZBURGERZ false, it says 121 and then cuts to him throwing the pokéballs and doesn't say a # until after it is returned to him and it then says 115, never did I see it say 116 before that throw.
can I put a tip myself? when the AR on and move the pokemon towards the bottom of the screen and u can almost drop the poke ball and catch them

Sometimes its actually easier to catch harder difficulty Pokemon with AR turned on so you can change the angle of the screen to your advantage.

For those with your AR not working its most likey because your fone doesn't have a gyroscope camera. I looked it up online and so your AR will only work on fones that have a gyroscope. If you wanna know if your fone has one then just download free app that checks your fones specs like "Phone Tester"

If you have trouble getting the curve ball throw to hit the center of the screen, maybe turn AR on.

So I've tested the pick up the pokeball thing and it doesn't return it to your inventory. It just lets you clear it out the way to throw the next one quicker than you normally would be able to.

You cannot retrieve thrown pokeballs, the number in your inventory will not go back up when you tap on a missed pokeball, you can even see that he starts at 116 and then is at 115 after "retrieving" his thrown pokeball.

Just tried tip # 4 and it didn't work at all. Had 274 pokeballs. Threw 3, with one capturing the Venonat. Was positive I had tapped the pokeballs before they disappeared. Have 271 pokeballs now. I believe the method is to quicken the game play, I don't believe you can save pokeballs that way.
edit tried this again with a pidgey and still didn't work, threw three pokeballs, pretty sure I tapped the two that missed, didn't get any of them back. Pretty sure now tip #4 in this video is bs.

Because I don't live near any pokestops so if I wanted to replenish I'd have to either go to the city(which Chicago isn't exactly the safest place to be playing this game) or buy more. edit that and to save other people their pokeballs since I'm pretty sure what IGN posted here for #4 is false.

Okay so #4 never worked for me until I held the area at the bottom of the screen where the pokeball would be if you could throw it again
for some reason I have to leave the AR on cause the pokeballs always curves as if "wind" is blowing

someone knows if i change the region of my apple ID to download the game and then change back to my original region, the app will be deleted, blocked or i can play normally?
everybody forgot to read that in #4 its written that you no longer can pick up pokeballs after that version update
first i was frustrated that i have to wait for the europe release, but now i'm really glad because with all those tipps and tricks that people publish, i wont be such a noob when its finally out for us in europe :D
plus the amount of server crashes that we have right might be fixed by the time yall get it in Europe.
Ya it was pretty much a clusterfuck both server and app performance wise _and_ people trying to figure out what to do. I wasted probably 10 pokeballs before I even realized I had to flick the pokeball just right to make it land on the circle.
You forgot tip 8: bring a portable charger.

Nah, they're not lying. At the time this was uploaded this was actually a feature. They removed it in the latest update however.

Arpeggio Except that is exactly what showing a video demonstrating what they are talking about is for. That is why every other point they make also demonstrate what they are talking about. The pokeball retrieval is completely false. Google results show nothing but people claiming (in text) that this is possible, probably because of videos like this claiming it is. Not a single video showing it in action. Not one.

well... people playing it in europe on the american servers mainly play at a time when most americans are asleep, causing no problems for the servers.
i find even myself playing late at night. so im sure quite a few of people in europe, play during the night time.
Lol Pokestops are too prevalent in my are I have 9 right by my house so I can just walk in a circle around the block and by the time I get back to the first the first two are refreshed, and on and on it goes.
does getting the pokeballs back thing work anyone else tapping it as soon as it misses it'll dissapear but not returned?

Pretty helpful that you can capture your pokeball back along with turning off the AR because it got pretty annoying after awhile. The games pretty good so far only issue is the damn crash servers.

Retrieving failed Pokeballs is the best tip.
That 4th tip can't be true, it is also shown in the video. When he tried capturing a Poliwag he had 116 pokeballs, soon enough after so sure of this tip, it shows 115 pokeballs afterwards.

Do you have to have the phone on all the time for the walking distance to be counted? or the app just need to be in the background?
You have to have the app itself on but if you go into your settings in the app, it has something called batterysaver mode. It turns the screen black to save your battery and will still buzz if a pokemon appears near you!

Question. My Augmented Reality feature doesn't work. The camera will work, but the Pokémon doesn't show up. It gives me a notification saying it can't find my orientation, my phone is a Samsung Grand Prime.
