One of fun fact is that Joseon (the former kingdom of Korea) resembles Plato's ideal country in some ways. In the ideal state described in Plato's "Republic", a philosopher king rules the country, but Joseon instead made its king a philosopher through education. Therefore, the kings of Joseon had to study very hard from the time they were princes, and even after becoming king, they had to attend seminars and study every day.

The pavilion visible at 08:00 is called Geunjeongjeon (근정전, 勤政殿), which means that the king and his subjects work diligently for the people.

The arrangement of the various palaces of Gyeongbokgung Palace symbolizes the founding ideology of Joseon, which is that the king must play his role as the control tower of state affairs, the king and his subjects must work diligently for the people, and as a result, all the people live happily.

What makes previous Korea's kingdom (Joseon) different from China and Japan in the past is that it has its own democratic tradition that the people are the king's heaven and the king must work for the people. So, in the past in Korea, ordinary people also submitted complaints directly to the king, and the king had to handle the complaints on the people's behalf.

Gyeongbokgung Palace(경복궁, 景福宮) is the palace of Joseon (1392-1910), the former kingdom of Korea. The meaning of the name Gyeongbokgung Palace is that this country will have great blessings forever and that all its people will live in peace and happiness through those blessings.
