The NFL Has a Primetime Problem

- The New York Giants are playing on primetime television at a historic rate, the likes of which very few teams, if any, ever have before. The New York Giants have been on primetime in 3 of the first 4 weeks of the season. The New York Giants will be on primetime in 4 of the first 6 weeks of the season. And on top of that... the New York Giants kind of stink

NOTE: There's one minor error in the video. The Minnesota Vikings and Miami Dolphins did, in fact, play on primetime this year. Don't know how that one slipped my mind.
#nfl #giants #nygiants #newyorkgiants #nflhighlights2023 #nfl2023 #nflhighlights #football #sports #highlights #americanfootball #nyg #newyork #danieljones
Made a minor mistake in the vid by saying that the Vikings and Dolphins hadn’t played on primetime yet. Think what I meant to say was they hadn’t played a home primetime game, and just forgot to say the home part, so disregard that!
Not a Giants fan, and what I've seen of them over the last few years has been boring to watch... but using the Vikes as a comp was a reach. While the Vikings were a playoff team last year.... they lost to the Giants in said playoffs are also off to a 1-3 start against a tough early schedule.
Well it wasn't like it was a Karl Ravech fail (Now Trea Turner knows what playoff baseball means).
More like Aikman reminding us when he was sacked 11 times by the Eagles in 1991 but also misremembered it as Buddy Ryan (then again partly true actually, while it was Dumb Decisions HOFer Rich Kotite it was also more of less Buddy's defense)
I feel like primetime games focus more on big market teams rather than teams that are actually going to be good
Yep & they need to stop doing that
@@Thunder103093I think they've tried focusing on teams they think will be good too only for that to backfire because the league is random like that.
Thats exactly why the nfl loves to abuse the cowboys primetime games
Also, the NFL scheduling algorithm calculates all the data. Which divisions should play which divisions. Who had the best record the previous year, and what market are those teams playing in, based on opening weekend viewership.
Couple of things: STOP putting cowboys/giants on primetime period.
Like you mentioned: NO TEAM should play that frequently on primetime. You’d think they would have learned from the broncos debacle last year.
Their doing it again the jets are on prime time again amd again all because rodgers was supposed to play.
@@Denozo88 What makes this worse is how poorly the Giants play at night. The NFL isn't doing them any favors.
@@Denozo88 Yeah they rode the Rodgers train really hard. Same way they did Russell Wilson and the broncos last year. They are morons in both cases.
@@InYourHouse316 A better idea would be to just look at the playoff field and base the games on that.
There was almost NOTHING last year that made the NY Giants (or Jets for that matter) somewhat entertaining to watch but you know those NYC metro ratings are needed…
100% true. Jets/giants could go 0-10 and get a Sunday night spot vs the cowboys or something. While for example a game like Ravens -Jaguars from last season or Cowboys -Jaguars were some of the most entertaining games never get that primetime spot.
How the poop problem in SF?
At least the Jets had the hype around acquiring Aaron Rodgers this off-season, it being September 11, and both Bills/Jets games in 2022 being close made that MNF game make sense.
@@MikeyKaos716 yea the also have the drama of waisting serious talent because of bad QB play. The giants are just flat out boring.
man shut up. both of your teams have been more successful than the Yankees/Mets and Jets/Giants in the last 10 years. 2 SB appearances and 3 WS titles. On top of the Warriors absolutely blowing the Knicks outta the water and the Sharks making the Cup final more recently than the Rangers/Islanders. We've seen enough of the Bay Area in the last 10 years.
The Giants were a good story last year. The NFL gambled that they were going to be a good team and they rolled snake eyes! It happens.
The NFL knew that the Giants had likely overachieved last season, regardless of how much of their core they were able to bring back and resign. They knew they had to capitalize on the Giants success quickly, so they loaded up the Giants schedule with prime time appearances early in the year. That way, they get the benefit of using false hope to bring in the largest media market in the nation to help boost their ratings. It's a very smart tactic by the NFL and you can see why they only have 1 national TV appearance after Week 6
I can't blame the NFL here. I agree with you. This is far from the first time this has happened and it's gonna happen again.
See here’s the thing about the 2006 Steelers: as the defending Super Bowl champs with a relatively young franchise QB, they weren’t expected to start that bad at all by the schedule makers.
What ended up happening was Big Ben getting into a motorcycle accident with no helmet on, him having to miss the first game or two of the season, and then playing poorly the rest of the way due to the injury’s aftereffects.
The NY Giants are just simply fraudulent in comparison.
Nothing is interesting about the Giants, except maybe saquon Barkley about a handful of times a year
I remember that year. Ben roethlisberger threw 23 picks to lead the league. It waw horrible. Bill cowher's last year was like the collapse of the german Empire. 8-8 ain't bad, but that team should've been worse than that
How about the 2008 Browns? 10-6, missed playoffs, got 5 primetime games!
Even the 2 SB wins with Eli were fluky. Although one could argue that playing in the highly competitive NFC East DOES make you battle-tested.
@@Fireyninjadogsomehow the steelers end up 8-8 or better in their "collapse" years. Must be nice
Well, to be fair, no one thought the Giants would regress THIS badly!
As a Giants fan, I feel bad not just for myself, but for every neutral fan that has been subject to our godawful play the first quarter of the season. My apologies...
I was right thinking that the Giants would regress, but DAMN I didn’t know it would be THIS bad 😂
Me too, I knew they would regress because I was never a believer in them last season, they were a typical parity one-hit wonder. It is surprising that they're this bad though, I got them down there with the Bears, Broncos, Cards, Raiders, Vikings, Chargers, Panthers, and Bengals right now.
Kind of reminds me of Sacksonville or Nagy's first season with the Bears. People hoped the improved QB play from Bortles and Trubisky had been them turning a corner that instead turned into an outlier good season buoyed by teammates masking their deficiencies only to be exposed again the next season. Daniel Jones got his bag though so we can mock the Giants cap situation for years to come.
Same here. Having to deal with the AFC East and the NFC West is one of the most frightening division combos in the NFL in 2023-24.
The NFL is always going to feature their favorite franchise.
The reason is simple: market size. New York has the biggest media market, so even if the team is average, they'll get a lot of interest from the powers that be.
Meanwhile, I thought this was going to be about how we're somehow getting a Bears/Commanders game on Thursday night for the second year in a row.
More than market size.... the Northeast tends to have the most avid pro sports fans, followed by the Midwest, then the West, then the South. Of the California teams, only the Niners tend to be a big draw, for example. Maybe also this is influenced by the Midwest and Northeast having the most cold and rainy weather, so people tend to be often cooped up indoors watching sports.
The Bears getting several prime time is even more absurd, they were the worst team in the league last year and are even worse this year.
The Giants are a storied franchise. Plus they are the New York Giants so they play in the biggest media market. They also have won 4 Superbowls. It's the same situation with the Cowboys. The Cowboys haven't won anything in over 30 years but because they are the most popular team in the league and generate the most merch sales, the NFL will keep putting them in Prime Time.
Yep. Even when the Cowboys were as sorry as all get-out, they'll still get national TV slots aside from the late Thanksgiving game. They still attract eyeballs, especially from fans who despise them.
They've scored 31 of those 46 points because the Cardinals woke up and remembered they were supposed to be tanking.
The NFL assumed that this would highlight last years coach of the year, who won the award over Nick Sirianni of The Philadelphia Eagles, who the Giants coach lost to 3 times, when the playoffs are included.
I mean, tbf the Eagles had arguably the most loaded roster in the NFL besides maybe the 49ers. What Daboll did with the team he had is why he won. Not that Sirianni wasn't a good coach, but the NFL likes to favor coaches who worked through adversity. It's why Kevin Stefanski won in 2020 despite the fact the Chiefs went 14-2. Or why Mcvay won in 2017 despite both the Patriots and Eagles going a league best 13-3.
@@jcore0981 That’s utter bs. The Eagles on 2017 were projected to be 9-7 at best. They were underdogs the entire season and the playoffs. Mcvay did a good job but Doug Peterson did a better job. The Eagles overcame major injuries that year as well. Daboll was undeserving and so was McVay. The Eagles of last season were not expected to be what they were despite the roster. The NFL honors whoever they choose regardless of adversity or anything else.
@matthewrosenthal753 And the Rams were what? 4-12? I'm not saying it's right, but that's how they've generally done it in a while. Should Bill Belichick have won in 2016? Yeah, probably. But Garrett was the better story. Should Pete Carroll have won in 2013? Yeah, probably, but Rivera was the better story. Should Andy Reid have won in 2018? Or Sean Mcvay? Yeah, probably, but once again, Nagy was the better story.
@@jcore0981 The NFL doesn’t care about the story. Doug Peterson was the better story, Nick was the better story, especially because he beat Drabol 3 times. Bill Belichick is a fraud. He is the same bad head coach he was in Cleveland, he just happend to get himself hired by Roger Goodell’s best friend and got himself, Tom Brady the QB the NFL decided was the Golden boy, that they helped anyway they could. The NFL doesn’t care about the best story. They only care about what they decide they want to care about.
The problem also lies in that, there's far too many mediocre to straight bad teams this year, there's only probably 5 or 6 teams that you can clearly call Super Bowl contenders and then there's everyone else.
Because they represent an area that has a population of 22 million (if you take northern NJ, New York City, Long Island, Fairfield County in Connecticut, and Westchester and Rockland Counties just north of NYC). That’s also why the Jets (even though Aron Rodgers was the main reason). The NYC area is the largest media market by population.
Exactly, even the Cowboys market by ourselves is not as big as NY or LA, but we still have large viewership; win or lose. Giants-Cowboys, division rivalry, opening NFL week prime-time, probably is the highest generating revenue game that's not the Superbowl.
Why don't you ask the schedule gods at the NFL why their crystal ball was broken? The Giants were a 9-7-1 and the number six seed in the NFC last season. Also, as this is a week four game, NFL can't flex out a bad matchup on SNF.
And they are always against teams that will curb stomp them to make it even worse. It’s like the only team that it wasn’t a complete mismatch was the Cardinals. I mean now they get the Bills? The Bills would have curb stomped LAST YEARS Giants, the only excitement there will be in prime time week 6 is if Josh Allen and the Bills can drop 70 on them like the dolphins did to the broncos.
Happy that game wasnt flexed out. Im a Giants fan making the trip to Buffalo. If that game was flexed to 1pm it would drastically changed my plans
I'd like to thank the NFL and the Giants for helping me watch less football 😂
They had extremely exciting games last year.. always down to the wire. Last year they didn’t have many prime time games at all. It’s all a guessing game. Many teams that were supposed to be good this year suck (bengals for example) and teams that were supposed to suck are good.
The rest of the season they don’t have many prime time games at all.
I hate prime time games. I don’t want to be up until midnight when I have work at 5am. So idk why people think they’re so much better than the other times. I personally think prime time is the WORSR time. 😂
The Bears are in a similar situation. At least 6 primetime games for a team that is likely the worst team in the league and hasn’t won a game in nearly a year.
now how dare you say philly vs giants on christmas day is like getting coal for christmas. this will be a joyous occasion
In all fairness to the Giants, who knew they would be this bad (Some probably but not most).
I have seen both the Giants and Jets in prime time more then any other team this year. My question is WHY?
3 prime time games in the first 4 games is crazy. Like we literally only got 3 this whole year. One of them was literally the murder scene we just had against the Giants
It’s a Very big market. The NFL’s number one goal is to make money. That’s what keeps the league running. The only teams that get an actual decent amount of primetime games are Playoff teams or big market teams. Pretty much every other team gets 1 game or sometimes nothing. Tbh I’m not mad at my falcons not getting any. I actually kinda like almost all our games being at the same time. It’s kinda sucky that I’m not local and don’t see many games on TV but I’ve been doing play by play for years.
Thank you for acknowledging the real motive behind the league placing the Giants in the prime time slot. They did the same with the Jets, though there was much more reason to buy into the Jets having a successful season before the Rodgers injury
Breathe...Calm down. None of us could better at scheduling the NFL. Be honest. But, this is why the new Flex is in place...they made a mistake...might learn from it.
Typically the league puts teams that are at a higher risk of being bad on early in the season because there not bad yet record wise, thats what they did here, everyone knows the giants way overperformed last yr and they were prob headed for a nosedive but the league wants ny on so bad theyl have them on early before fans tune out.
All of those primetime games for the G-Men just because they have a COTY winner in Daboll and Daniel Jones who at least *appeared* to look like he was playing good. And they just got CRUSHED by Dallas 17-49.
It's actually the Jets fault. They were supposed to have multiple prime time games. Then Aaron got hurt and schedule had to get reset a little bit
As a bills fan I think the 2023 giants are an alternate timeline 2018 bills if they won the wildcard game after the drought ended. If the bills didn’t rebuild and draft and QB and try to stay the course
It really feels like it. The problem was that Minnesota wasn’t as good as they appeared to be and a lot of people saw a loss to the Giants coming.
Even when the Bills made the playoffs in 2017 they only ended up with one primetime game the next season.
The giants schedule this year is bonkers on 12 different levels, this is just the most high profile one.
Amazon Prime isn’t over the air
This is very similar to how the Blackhawks in the NHL are on national TV multiple times this upcoming season despite having one of the worst seasons in team history last season. Between ESPN & TNT, the Blackhawks are on national TV a whopping 9 times this season including back to back nights for the season premiere on both ESPN & TNT. To make this worse, one of those national TV appearances is against the Philadelphia Flyers (another bad team) on TNT on February 21st. Despite adding Conner Bedard (#1 pick in this year's draft) the Blackhawks are expected to remain terrible this season & hockey fans have to see them likely get beat badly by teams who made the playoffs last season (with the exception of the Flyers & Penguins) on national TV.
i suggested the fire daniel jones and let baker mayfield and tyrod taylor compete for the starting job. i got laughed at and called names. anybody laughing now?
The NFL highlighting 1, maybe 2 teams the last couple of years with primetime games has proven ruinous. Not only have those focused teams been terrible, but the games DREADFUL.
Tbf the Giants weren't expected to be this bad
The deadline to flex the Giants/Bills primetime game just passed...
The giants are playing chutes and ladders?!😂
I don’t dislike the Giants but for some reason I can never enjoy watching them on TV.. this is every season unless they’re playing in the postseason which can’t be ignored..
NFCE just brings ratings
I have to admit I must have experienced the highs and lows of being an NFL fan following the Giants. Multiple lifetime of experiences from doing this. As a result, I can retire in peace from following 5he NFL as a fan and fully can join into bashing the Giants and agreeing. I have saw both the Parcells abd Coughlin eras. I am set.
Life goes on.
And the Giants are a problem.
Monday night football and Thursday night usually historically has always had trash matchups.
Lump of coal … maybe only if one is not an Eagles fan. Worse point diff than the Browns … groan. Everyone in scheduling thought Daboll, +$40 millions Jones with Barkley = competitive football team.
I heard about this on Sports Illustrated: its not just the Giants, but there are also primetime games with the Bears, Raiders, Broncos, Jets, Patriots and Vikings...and as we're seeing, all 7 are doing pretty bad. In fact, the article I saw identified some games that, once certain deadlines are met, *could* be flexed. For Sunday Night Football, flex may be used up to two times between Weeks 5 and 10, and at the NFL’s discretion during Weeks 11-17.
For Monday Night Football it may be used at the NFL’s discretion in Weeks 12-17.
For Thursday Night Football it may be used up to two times between Weeks 13 and 17.
That's why they made the option to flex games after week four
And to top it all of, the league didn’t even bother to flex the Giants out of tomorrow night’s game
Caleb Williams is not saving this Giants team
It’s time to cut the cord on Daniel Jones!
Washington franchise tagged Cousins like 4 years straight but Jones gets auto extension lol 😆 should have of tag 1 more & extend Barkley.
Nah, the NFL has a New Jersey problem LOL
At least it made sense for the jets seeing as Rodgers was supposed to be playing
I’m a Giants fan and I don’t even want to see them embarrass themselves in primetime again.
Keep them off until they get their stuff together and make themselves respectable again. Getting dragged on PTTV with a crappy o-line is embarrassing for the team
I’m still kicking myself on how we let the giants comeback on us in wk. 2 smh!
It's not hard to figure out, biggest market in the country=on tv more.
This is definitely a New York market biased the NFL claims it doesn't have. Yes the two New York teams share a stadium, but then how does that explain them both getting a week one home opener which made the field team have to work around the clock to change it. I get the Jets because of Rodgers debut, they didn't know what was going to happen to Rodgers. But the first Sunday night being the Giants a rivalry that hasn't been a big one in years, give me a break. And the other two they claim it's because of trying to get every team on prime time. But you expect us to believe with 17 opponents to choose from there were no other prime time games they could of scheduled for the 49ers and the Seahawks this early in the season, Give me a break. And the Giants have more primetime games. With all that anyone can say there isn't New York biased.
Also, We(the Colts) didn’t get this kinda love during the Manning years. We were flexed in by earning prime time by winning and Peyton making it look good.
The Vikings have been in primetime this year, Thursday night against the Eagles.
Yep that was an error on my part. Will update the description!
Good on ya, that's why i like you! Keep up the great work!
I was wondering this very question. I didn't know they had another prime time game in a couple weeks.
I wonder if they did this because jones I think is winless in prime time, at least low win percentage. I'd really love to know why they put them in so many times.
The media over-blew the 'revival' of the Giants last season, to the point of making their head coach Coach Of The Year. This is best illustrated by Brian Daboll's 'success' against Nick Sirianni. He was COTY even though he went 0-3 when playing Sirianni's Eagles. Nowm the league is reaping what the media sowed last season. The Giants were not good last season, and they're even worse this season. Congrats, NFL and football media. You elevated a total mediocrity. lol
JG I'm surprised you didn't mention that but for Aaron Rodgers' shoulder injury in 2013, it would have been the Matt Flynn-led Packers against (who else?) the G-Men on SNF at the expense of 9-0 KC vs the 8-1 Broncos (in the midst of Denver's record-smashing offensive campaign), which would have been relegated to a 4:05 regional game on CBS.
Let's be honest, it's been a LONG time since the Jets are better and more wanted than the Giants. I want to hide my head in a hole right now.
Might as well call them out for the season as from the looks of it they have a few more prime time games like the panthers you might as well take them out put teams that rarely shown. Cause I doubt they will return back
All those primetime Jets games are trash games now. Amazon must be psyched about that Jets/Browns clash to end the season.
The Giants have proved that last season's record was luck. A lot of their victories could have gone either way as well as their playoff victory. The NFL should have seen this coming. This is worse than Danny Dimes spiking the ball to the ground on every single play 😁👍
I agree, big market viewership prevails. But, this becomes a math problem (for advertiser income) in two unknowns: #1 big market; 2 fans abandon game at 1/2 for reruns of F-Troop. Humor of the day: see previous video of coaches mentally absent (Seahawks vs Giants) b-4 half-time; at 10:19 of video, is geezer holding up the stick or stick supporting anciano? Whose relative is this octagenarian? What is stick holder pay per game?
the NY Giants were a play-off team last year, Brian Daboll was the Coach of the Year in 2022, they have a tremendous fan base and represent the media capital of the USA. The fact that the Giants have not done well thus far this season is proof that the NFL is not scripted.
NY problem in general. So sick of washed up games from these "big market" teams
I might be wrong but I believe they are trying to take the WWE route. They are trying to make certain teams look better, and the easiest way is to have Super Bowl caliber teams play the worst teams on prime time television where everyone could superstars do superstar things.
Thursday chicago plays. Smh
Giants do stink though! Loved seeing my Seahawks dismantle them recently!
Sunday Night Football started in 1989.
Sunday Night Football started in 1987, but for only the second half of the season.
Full season Sunday Night Football started in 1990.
@@Bruce12867 Ahhh, I ignored 1987. Thanks
The chargers too
2 words: Sunday Ticket.
I woulda told the NFL months ago to shelve thw Giants they suck ass. No O line, Danny Derps overpaid at qb, and Saquan is like a sports car that's always broke down in the shop.
Yup…the NFL ships the Buffalo Bills over to London so half the country can’t watch one of the best teams but will put the Bears and Giants on prime time.
Bears are elite whats wrong with you man
Best defense of all time 1985
You want to "solve" this "problem", JG9, there's 2 ways to do it. Start your own TV Network or streaming service, get prime time games, and insist on only good teams play on your prime time games (and on the problems with that scenario) or insist that TV Networks stop caring about ratings. Im surprised that the Chargers or Ram aren't in more prime time games because LA is the 2nd largest TV market. I just Googled DC #8, Dallas/Ft. Worth #6, Philadelphia #3, LA #2, NYC#1. Say that you're a salty Jaguars fan without saying that you're a salty Jaguars fan. Jacksonville #47. I think you're upset over the lack of Jaguar prime time games, and if they're on prime time they're the +1.
JG9 you out did yourself. Say you know nothing about prime time games without saying you know nothing about prime time games. Prime time games are about ratings, and New York is the largest TV market. In fact, the NFC East has 4 of the top 10 TV markets, and, as far as ratings go, the team with the highest TV rating are The Dallas Cowboys. Irregardless of what fans think the NFC East will always be in prime time because of the ratings they draw.
I. Hate. Primetime games of these trash teams.
New York teams=possibly great ratings.it’s all about $$$$
Noooooooooooo
The NFL has a massive DERP problem……..
The New York Professional Football Sentient Derps
Hell that UT vid was in 2017 he could have made it last week😆😆😆😆😆
No bears at pack snf game this season? Maybe flex bears/car. game into prime time? Might be bears only chance at a win or could try to preserve top picks?
Well the Bears got their W, course it only took Dick Butkus (RIP) death to do it
@@mgb4692yep. rip butkus. bears better lose that car. game. i'm gonna watch 'hamburger the motion picture' now. for #51.
Vikings played the eagles on Monday night football didn't they?
Awesome video
No they’ll make money everytime the giants are on TV
People watch the NFL for the spectacle, not good football
Your primetime games come with your market and the NFL took a risk on the Giants that didn't pay off 🤷🏾♂️ Personally I don't think it was crazy betting on the Giants after looking at their offseason. Maybe all this loosing will get them a good QB next year but this is still a decent roster so idk
They are locked in with DJ. and the problem isnt Daniel Jones. The defense cant tackle to save their lives. The Giants RB, TE, and key OT always seems to be hurt.
Lions are always good prime time
We're not frauds, we just suck.
I been telling everyone this Giants HAVE been frauds since they had Eli Manning their fanbase hypes this team up every year only to get destroyed and swept by Dallas year after year as a Cowboys Fan I see this team twice a year and I love it always 2 easy wins 😂
Giants would be 1-3 in the CFL
My team should have primetime games.
The NFL has a New York Giants problem.
The New York Football Giants have a Dave Gettleman problem.
they could easily just stop scheduling the giants games on primetime 😂
And a cowboys problem, and a eagles, just, an NFC East problem
Really just New York in general. You can add Chicago and LA too (even though the Rams and Chargers are at least okay)
The NY Giants have a feminine itching problem.
It gets worse. 4 of the next 8 Bears games are on prime time, and I don't think any of them can be flexed out. That includes the Super Ultra Tank Bowl on November 9 where we find out if the Bears will have the number 1 pick, or if it will be.......the Bears (via Carolina)
I think the only the game the Bears can be flexed out is Week 8 on Sunday night at the Chargers.
I get that the Bears have a nationwide following, but that’s a head scratcher on why they’ve have 2 Thursday night games.
As a Giants fan, I feel as bad about it as you do. The Giants are terrible on national TV, have been forever.
Remember the MNF game where LT broke Theismann's leg? Unknown backup Jay Schrader came in, and destroyed them.
Remember the 2008 season, when a 5-0, Super Bowl defending Giants team played the one-win Cleveland Browns on Monday night? The Browns humiliated them.
They've been notoriously horrible whenever they play a night game in front of a national audience...for...decades. I was at the 2008 Browns game, and the Sunday night ESPN game when they played the Saints in New Orleans-you remember the one, where the Saints beat them by 40, and Joe Horn pulled a cell phone out of the uprights after scoring a TD? I was at the 1998 monday night game against the Cowboys, where Deion Sanders had his absolute best night as a pro - punt return for a TD, interception return for a TD, and damn near caught a TD from Aikman, as he was a two-way player then.
If they never play another nationally televised game, I'd be thrilled-especially with well-known reverse vampire Daniel Jones, who turns into a pile of poop when the sun goes down.
I hate it, but typical of the Giants after having a half-decent season. They get a bunch of prime time games because they play in NYC, and their opponent usually has the same prime time game against them because they're, y'know...a good football team, with popular, well-known players, among the best at their respective positions in the NFL. Crazy, right?
This year's opener has given the feeling of de ja vu to the 1995 season. 4 Primetime games that year for the Giants as well.
NFL schedule planners tend to think is a big QB acquisition (Russel Wilson last season, Aaron Rodgers this season) or if a team was a playoff team last season that it will translate to the current season so they prioritize them on primetime. So a team like my team, the Houston Texans not only has zero primetime games I believer every single game is a noon kickoff as well. Yet, this team isn't as boring as the previous 3 seasons. Its hard to predict how a team will be season by season. But with the Giants, they should have seen this coming. Daniel Jones has never been good. Even last season where they made the playoffs he sucked but they are in the largest media market AND were a playoff team which was good enough for the schedule makers.
NFL did the same last season where Broncos had 6 primetime or stand alone games last season and ALL of them were awful and boring
The 49ers one was the most interesting one.
With Jimmy G stepping out of the endzone.
It was the opposite with the Giants the NFL believed they could win inspite of Daniel Jones and maybe Daniel could scrap together a decent performance like Tannehill in 2021 to allow them a 7th seed entrance while Dexter Lawrence and that D-Line did the heavy lifting. Cause last year the Giants were a scrappy team that found wierd ways to win games which made them entertaining
And no Daniel Jones isn't the main reason why they win games or why they're losing rn with Andrew Thomas and John michael schmitz injured their line has been horrible and they can't even run the ball efficiently with Saquon out + they can't pass protect for shit(11 sacks against Seattle is crazy 😂) they had the Seahawks feeling like they just revived the legion of boom and the defense has been okay but they been on the field too long cause of the consistent 3 and outs and their pass rush in the interior is good but the edges have been pretty trash with Kayvon playing okay against Seattle but their pass rush has regressed on the edge which has led to their scheme faltering because Martindale's scheme relies on blitzing to create one on one's for his pass rushers to get quick pressure to force errors. Honestly the Giants are a mess on film I'm glad we got the W but tbh I kinda wanna see the NFC being a more competitive conference
As a Colts fan I feel your guys pain. I get it last season was a train wreck from my end. I was watching the season finale with a friend (that was a Texans fan) and he was pissed that Lovie went for two and the win and threw away the #1 pick.
I believe both the Texans and Colts, along with the Cardinals and Falcons do not have a single prime time game
The Texans, like my Cardinals, have zero prime time games because they stink.
One of the many reasons why the Giants have so many primetime games is because of unavoidable stadium conflicts at MetLife Stadium with the Jets. The Jets and the Giants share the stadium, so sometimes they have to play at home during the same weekend, thus automatically creating a primetime slot (Thursday or Monday) for one of the teams.
During Week 1 and Week 4 this year, both the Jets and Giants shared MetLife Stadium for the weekend, so both New York teams played in primetime. I'm not sure the NFL can avoid this; maybe, have the Jets and Giants alternate weeks hosting games or have the Jets or Giants play a home game during the bye weeks for the other New York team.
The Giants are simply atrocious, that's for sure.
The Giants and Jets play each other on October 29 with the Giants being the home team.
Doesn't mean you gotta put them both in primetime.
They could easily just not schedule home games for both teams the same week. That's what they used to do for Giants/Jets games back in the day. In fact, even the 49ers/Raiders and Rams/Raiders used to have opposite home/road games and they didn't even share a stadium.
@@-NFiN8-Literally lol
They can play them home & away
That doesn’t affect the Rams and Chargers though.
Giants are really bad and anybody could tell they were a one-hit wonder type team last year because the NFC was so bad last season. I knew they weren't going to be good this year, but the Jets I understand more because Rodgers was expected to be healthy and playing, so who would blame the NFL for giving them a lot of primetime or nationally televised games. Overall these primetime games are pretty bad though and maybe it's due to unfortunate scheduling. We were lucky the Chiefs-Jets game was competitive, but it seems like there's defensive showdowns on Monday night every week. I don't know how the NFL can fix it because you can't flex out Thursday or Monday night games like you can later in the season on Sundays.
Big market team that's why. Just like the Knicks, Yankees, and Rangers in their respective leagues.
Thank Ed Donatell and the Minnesota Vikings for this atrocity. They deserve a cut of Daniel Jones's contract
Right?
It's true, it's our fault. Daniel Jones had only 3 games where he threw for over 230 yards last year. Take a guess at who 2 of them came against
And oddly enough it was a small annoying contingent of Seahawk fans who wanted to hire Donatell in Feb 2022. Giants might have won this game like 30-14.
Ironically, Donatell was the DC for 0-12 UW in 2008, short memories.......................
The NFL has an NFC East problem. They think that everyone in the country wants to watch these teams, especially the Cowboys. I don't want to watch any of them play, but they're always featured in some way.
The Cowboys consistently have high ratings because people want to watch them play
@@harlanseago4876 When they are constantly featured, then, by default, they will get higher ratings.
So to be clear, you have an NFC East problem. But the Giants should not be featured this year 😂
@@harlanseago4876 Three other people seem to agree with me. I won't laugh at my own comment.
@@jasonfischer8946 congratulations. The millions of people that watch the Cowboys agree with me
