1/2 hour in the hot tub sends my blood sugar up, and it takes a long time to come down. I am on strict keto. Blood sugar is usually around 5.5, but after hot tub it is about 7.
yes quite normal. blood sugar is 'normal' by way of fluctuating depending on the body's needs, such as exercise - a hot bath acts on the nervous system and blood vessel dilation like exercise. It's normal.
Just got my fasting insulin level back after I bought a Walk in Labs test online, and got it drawn down the street. I have been carnivore since last October (24) except for a week on non sugar free cough drops which I was duped about- now called “cough drop Gate”. My fasting insulin is 5.7, so I know I’m on the right track. Will continue carnivore and retest in March.🎉
The Lingo CGM is over the counter in the US. A 2week monitor is $49, a two pack is $89. I did 2 weeks over the Holidays, then 2 weeks later started my second 2 weeks. Amazing information, and appears quite accurate as to trends. I do find the actual glucose value to be slightly low, but not a big deal, as the trends are very correlated with what I’m doing. Probably a 2 week test is adequate, I’m checking a few more habits in my second period. I did correlate with finger stick monitors which are way more variable and tend to read a little higher. Interestingly I found that after trying 3 different brands that they give way less info and the inter device variability is high. The Keto Mojo is my favorite and the Accucheck is ok, a third cheaper one was crap(the first one I bought) BTW I was considered pre-diabetic when I started all this, but not more than 10 pounds over ideal body weight. I also was a relatively “healthy” eater with regular exercise. Was low fat, with lots of “healthy” veggies and fruits, starches, but some sugar. Went low carb, no sugar or starch, with time restricted eating, and it’s clearly helping my blood sugar, energy, and sense of wellness. Have lost the 10 pounds very easily and am rarely hungry now, and have to focus on eating “enough” to keep my weight appropriate. I usual fast about 17 hours which is amazingly easy, and I work out at the end of the fast most days with excellent energy always, before I eat lunch as my first meal.
I think wearing a CGM would drive me nuts. Too obsessional. I use a monitor when I need to check my food reactions which is little since I eat mostly the same foods.
Been watching you off and on for a year. I have found your information is timely and easy to understand. I’m trying to get my blood glucose back in control after an injury. I am currently using a CGM. Simply to monitor my spikes. It helps. Again, thanks for your hard work on the information you share with us.
Used a Stelo when it was released. Bought 2 but have only used 1 so far since I didn’t want to add to the stress of the holiday season. It was interesting but not as reliable as I expected. However, at 77, my arms are not as “smooth” as someone younger. After reading about how interstitial fluid can be affected by sagging skin, I think I will try the inside of my upper thigh for the second one. I know that alternate sites aren’t considered “appropriate” but it may work better for me. I hope so. One thing I learned from doing finger sticks is that “resistant starches” don’t necessarily have consistent results. Just because potato X which was cooked and cooled before eating on day x produced no spike in blood sugar, doesn’t mean that potato Y, eaten under the same conditions and in the same amount won’t. After checking out available information, I found that a) the amount of resistant starch that form during the cooling period (which can vary considerably) and b) other environmental factors such as too little sleep will influence blood sugar spikes. I love the intrigue of it all. It’s a puzzle to be solved about ME.
Please let your followers with diabetes know that you are not a diabetic. Result vary with people who have diabetes. I see there are some in the comments.
Blood sugar results vary for SO many different reasons, but the same principles still apply. Fewer carbs = less of a spike. Better sleep = better blood sugar control. Pairing carbs with protein and fat = less of a spike. I understand where you are coming from to a degree, but I believe I make it clear that I am not diabetic and that this is just what I specialise in and the clients I work with. And one of the main principles I focus on on my channel is that blood sugar matters for EVERYONE.
I’m using the Stelo gcm. First 2 sensors worked great, both full 14 days. Third sensor fell off after about 5 hours, contacted company and they did send a replacement. Fourth sensor stopped working after 7 days. I really like using the gcm but I’m not sure if I can continue as they are too expensive to use ,especially if they are not working properly.
@@johnnyemitchell8539I've had a couple of sensors go bad before the full 14 days. One was at 12 days. Contacted the company through their website and they sent me a replacement right away, no problem.
Unfortunately measuring ketones through breath isn’t very accurate ☹️ beyond the first few weeks. Blood is the most accurate way to measure glucose and ketones
@@HealthCoachKait That’s what I read too. I believe blood is most accurate. I would consider blood glucose although it looks expensive. SECOND COMMENT:🥈I have a question are you in Australia 🇦🇺 some of your videos would suggest that in one of them you used the term Kangaroo 🦘 meat 🥩 and also said Here in Australia 🇦🇺?
I thought you were going to actually list 100 foods and how they each registered on the CGM. If one were to use a CGM is it only good for a certain period of time? Does it have to be replaced periodically? Can you place it in your arm yourself or does someone have to do it for you?
CGMs only last for two weeks then need to be replaced. That’s why the cost adds up fast 🥴 You can put it on yourself! Here’s a video of how ua-cam.com/users/shorts_0g37u6FLX8?si=v5Avu2LhW8Q0Slyg
There are time stamps on the progress bar. I also have videos on all lengths on my channel. Shorts less than 90 seconds, mid length less than 10 but you have clicked on a podcast episode. Trying my best to cater to everyone ☹️
Yes, sometimes it trends higher or lower than blood glucose, but still trends the same way. I talk about in the video how it is always slightly behind blood glucose.
The numbers can be significantly off in either direction for a myriad of reasons. Compression lows. Too cold. Too hot. Hormones. Or just off. That’s why endocrinologists recommend double checking with a test strip before T1’s treat highs or lows.
Tried the Freestyle 2 I believe, didn't work half the time and kept waking me and saying my sugars were too low. Or, didn't work at all. Haven't tried another brand. I'd love to have one, which ones actually work?
OK what are the foods and what is the results! Was looking for a chart or table rather than you just talking & talking & talking. Yes its nice to know the procedure, equipment and some other history. But again was looking for the results. Was that one to the too many links below that was not labeled correctly? BTW: I'm subscribed & watch most of your content.
I have short form videos (60 seconds or less), mid-legth videos (under 10 minutes) and longer videos like this one. If you go to my "Blood Sugar" playlist those might be the length of content you're after ❤️
Glucose testing is only a ROUGH guide. Lab testing is the ULTIMATE. But you can't do that EVERYDAY! Every time you prick your finger tip, every second, at THAT same spot, the blood sugar is going to be DIFFERENT. Your heart pumps blood throughout your body on average speed of about 3 to 4 miles per hour.. Each trip, and all along the way, your blood glucose is NOT the same. To muddle matters even more, some people do not take into account interstitial fluid from the first blood drop.
Is this the channel that said yesterday only people who joined get to see first....lol....that made me unsubscribe.....way too many other options for them to think thier elite...smh...
I have had channel memberships $1 and $5 per month that offer early access to all of my videos since 2020. Why is that an issue? 😅 They all become public. And no one is forcing you to join. Being subscribed is free.

CGMs only last for two weeks then need to be replaced. That’s why the cost adds up fast 🥴 You can put it on yourself! Here’s a video of how ua-cam.com/users/shorts_0g37u6FLX8?si=v5Avu2LhW8Q0Slyg

You don't want people to wait for the information they seek, but now it's twelve minutes and....
Taking way too long. I’m out!
There are time stamps on the progress bar. I also have videos on all lengths on my channel. Shorts less than 90 seconds, mid length less than 10 but you have clicked on a podcast episode. Trying my best to cater to everyone ☹️
We stopped using it because it was giving us 2to3 numbers higher has this happened to anybody?
Agree ...i don't have 30 min unfort
I have short form videos (60 seconds or less), mid-legth videos (under 10 minutes) and longer videos like this one. If you go to my "Blood Sugar" playlist those might be the length of content you're after ❤️
@@loveearthspirit829 speed up the video.
Where are the test results for 100 foods?
I will organise them and put them on my website this week ❤️
@@HealthCoachKaityou have to!
😎👍🏻
Too much talk
The word you’re looking for is filament
Is this the channel that said yesterday only people who joined get to see first....lol....that made me unsubscribe.....way too many other options for them to think thier elite...smh...
I have had channel memberships $1 and $5 per month that offer early access to all of my videos since 2020. Why is that an issue? 😅 They all become public. And no one is forcing you to join. Being subscribed is free.
Its not a problem for me at all...i just chose to unsubsribe too much info out thier to charge a premium...if u do well..great..just not from me...cheers!!!😊
It’s all free though? But all good! Lots of other channels you can follow if you don’t resonate with my content 🙂
@@hrh-xj4fh. what’s wrong with her making a bit of money if people want to pay it. if we don’t we still get the information we just have to wait a bit longer?
I would still be uploading for the public at the same times. I just put them on “members only” once they’re finished until that date.
Stelo is available in US and no need for a prescription 😀
