The answer to this will take time,, at the moment we use cash to buy crypto but over time all the worlds liquidity will slowly move on chain, merchants will adopt payment systems like Solana pay etc until there is an end to end economy on solana, so the currency would usdc, usdt etc to buy all assets, commodities...everything. As for the backing of these stablecoin's it makes no sense to back these with fiat currencies that are not holding their purchasing power, the answer is still not clear here but tokenised rwa of some kind, NFTS anything that holds value better than the $ would be an improvement. Retailers would have their whole product line on chain, users could go to Jupiter to buy these....super exciting, and its quite clear that these projections are in the pipeline now, so long as innovation continues.
I find it hard to understand why someone from Worldpay is so excited about DLTs. Shouldn't they be afraid of the dawn of DLT-based payments? Isn't the whole point of payments in DLTs to reduce the role of middlemen players like Worldpay or Visa? If these guys continue to play a role in the middle of transactions, isn't a decentralized blockchain defeating its purpose in the realm of payments?
This is just the beginning for institutions like VISA to test the waters by researching and conducting proof of concept (PoC) with distributed ledger technology (DLT) such as blockchain. Even though Solana might be the technology’s of use or not. Still it is a good news for the industry as a whole. Visa themselves said it is not a single ledger to rule them all.
