    You are wrong about public school. Since there is so much immigration to Spain from so many countries, it is very normal nowadays to find many students who are not Spanish. And the public schools in Spain are very good, since teachers have had to take competitive exams to be able to enter.

      That’s great to know that the composition of local schools isn’t just Spanish. Thanks for sharing! And I do know that Spanish public schools are great. We prefer private Christian education in both the US and Spain, otherwise we’d enroll in public here in Spain.

      I think it depends on where the school is located. Where I live some schools are mainly composed of immigrant students while others schools the ratio is not that big.

    This was super helpful! We got a letter yesterday that our school district had 2 threats THIS WEEK! Our school district has 5 elementary schools and 1 middle school. My son is 3! It is a huge factor in why we want to move to Spain. I shouldn't have to worry about my 3 year olds safety at school.

      No you sure shouldn’t. Reach out anytime if you want to chat more what life is like here with kids. We’re so glad we made the choice.

      Hi thanks for sharing! I wasn’t informed that there were many nationalities represented in public but it’s good to know! I can’t speak for all private schools, but ours in Spain is $12,000 (not $120,000 ha) for two kids per year. In the U.S. it was triple that. My favorite part is that students at our school represent 8 nations in 10 kids! And their parents work in all types of fields, they’re not executives or necessarily in high-paying positions. It’s a sacrifice they make for their child’s education. Thanks for sharing!

    I would add that your pet is also safe with us. We would never eat cats or dogs. Now seriously, the "concertados" are usually catholic schools that follow a catholic view about homosexuality, gender etc. In the public schools it depends on the teacher or the center as they are free to talk about whatever they want to. In theory, in the public schools you can choose between "religion" or "values" as subject and "values" is the one that addresses the gender or LGBT in a contemporary way.

    Well, I was educated in the 70s and early 80s. I didn't go to university. Of course, I had a Catholic education. I'm not a big fan of these transgender issues and the like, and I don't know what other Christian religions say about it, but I remember what the priests were most insistent on, "You shall love God above all things and your neighbor as yourself." And whether I like it or not, everyone is my neighbor. But I think you're right that this education is the job of the parents.

    Why does religion matter in your child’s education? That’s deeply weird.

    • @goanddogood
      @goanddogood  2 місяці тому

      It’s not religion, it’s the values represented in Christianity that we sow into all areas of our family’s lives, school included.

    Answering to your question, there is in fact a woke agenda being implemented at public schools in Spain, in fact, most Catholic charter school are being forced to implement this agenda if they don’t want to lose their financial aid. The only way to avoid this issue is to go to a private school, something that you know from experience it’s quite expensive

      This is how it is in the U.S. and I’m saddened to hear that. Thanks so much for sharing. It’s really hard to hear in any country that topics that are not age or ethically appropriate are being introduced to OUR children (not theirs).

      @@goanddogood Yeah, none of that is true. I'm a public school teacher and teaching against racism is a GOOD THING. No one is introducing pornograhpic material to kids. That's just been made up by right leaning politicians to scare people away from public schools and destroy the public school system. Your pro-Trump values are really coming to light here. It's too bad - I really love topic related to a Spain move, but this is not something I will support. DeSantis seems more your speed. I'm surprised you moved to Spain.
