    As the founder of a small leather company fighting the waste of goatskins in the UK, this is so inspirational to watch. Great to see Patagonia not jumping on the anti-leather bandwagon.

    I got my bison boots yesterday and no joke they are the best feeling boots I’ve felt. And the most beautiful boots I’ve ever seen!! Nice enough to wear to a party, built for hard work in the field. Best boots I’ve ever experienced 🦬 🥾

      discorperted but Patagonia doesn’t claim to be a perfect company, however they make clothes in the most responsible way possible, even encouraging people not to buy there garments. They have something called Worn Wear which helps people buy and sell there used garments.

      Everyone needs clothes because it is illegal to be naked and we need protection from the climate. There is no better clothes for the planet than the one made by Patagonia. Not even close. Saying they are an oil company is just a ridiculous statement. Study their mission and company DNA AND what they have done year in and year out and you will see just how ridiculous that statement is.

    I was raised on the short grass prairies of Texas and heard stories of the buffalo that once roamed there. Thank you to everyone involved with this effort. It brought tears to my eyes as well!

    Long time customer of Wild Idea. The quality of their buffalo is outstanding! The family is an American treasure so I'm not surprised they found a way to give back even more to this planet. I don't buy beef anymore.

    Congratulations to the people in Dakota, to Patagonia, to the folks in Portugal and to the friends who helped made the video. Things like this make you have lots of hope in this complicated world we live in. We need more people like this and specially to make these typo of videos really available to schools and the new generations !!

    Story starts with the Grandfather saying sit down were rolling here, like a tough guy. You end the story with him tearing up showing he's a teddy bear just like most of our grandparents. Whoever edited this story together, job well done!

      @karabuller 4 місяці тому

      right - i was like "yikes" when he commanded "sit down" - then he's looking for his sleeves at the end - haha. Yes, well done.

  • @ErikDouds

    "I've got sleeves," as the grandfather tears up. You hear about the loss of passion between generations of farmers. This boot is an interesting concept from an environmental perspective as we all question the role of plastics that were once the promise away from animal products. I know Patagonia does their research, works with incredible farmers and suppliers, and is breathing life back into lost trades. Commend you all for the hard work.

    "oxymoron". I admire much of what Patagonia does (this example excepted) and many of my shirts, jackets, and even wetsuits are from their store.

    the entire globe needs to start thinking more locally in terms of business models.. More community based or at least in our own countries. then it really is full circle. more jobs in your area or in your nation!
    therefore i say this. This is all pretty good.....BUT....are we saying that there aren't any boot makers in USA that can do this job so its at least in the same country and therefore less damaging to the ozone in form of saving on sending all the leather/hides over the ocean??????????
    is it not a more cost effective, time efficient and more importantly, from what patagonia are trying to portray, more sustainable way of going forward with this kind of project???

    • @alexcontreras6103
      @alexcontreras6103 4 роки тому

      well the horse existed on prairies prior to the white man (which were Spaniards with Arabian horse genes), hence "reintroduced" (since horses evolved in north America) but bison had existed on the prairie since prehistoric time. Natives expanded their range heavily by burning large areas of shrubs to let the grasses grow ( a job the extinct megafuana browsers would do) a form of wild permaculture.

    • @alexcontreras6103
      @alexcontreras6103 4 роки тому

      @discorperted @discorperted Moorish occupied Spain for 800 years those are their horses. Tribes did exist on plains just not the way you would consider it to be today and many of the plains where created and expanded. Just like tree islands in the everglades or tierra preta in the amazon. Yes they drove bison off cliff also Mammoths off cliff before them but that's irrelevant to my point

      You don't know how the Indians lived. Some of them did okay. But they also hunted plenty of species to extinction and their method of hunting Buffalo, depending on the tribe, was very destructive and wasteful. Don't believe the stupid myths about the "environmentalist Indians" of the past.
