This isn't stray kids' first OST, they did TOP and Slump for the anime Tower of God and also an ost for the kdrama Extraordinary You. If you just mean for a jdrama though this is also my first time hearing of a kpop group doing a jdrama ost! This ost is really good, very much the Stray Kids sound.
It's been a while since I've regularly watched reactions so forgive me if i'm misremembering but I remembered that in the past you liking songs/releases with a contemporary vibe so I wanted to suggest ONF's most recent comeback Bye My Monster. ONF are a really underrated group and if i'm remembering that correctly then I think you would appreciate the song. Even if you don't react on your channel and just check it out off camera I hope you can enjoy it!
And apologies if you don't like suggestion comments anymore as I said I haven't watched reactions lately, I hope you have a great day/evening regardless! 😊

Yeah, as another commeter said, this isn't their first OST. Just the first Japanese Drama OST ( I think it may even be the first one done, at least, in the 4th gen of K-pop. Just like they were the first K-pop group asked onto the First Take. Haha, the Japanese REALLY do love them... WHICH may very well have to do with their OSTs actually, in combination with their regular music and lack of fear when it comes to being different and taboo.) The group as a whole has done 5 of them. (Seungmin himself had done like 3 or 4 more lol, two of them VERY recently.) ALL of which are VERY popular, however. Whether it simply be their live performance of the song, which is the case with 'Story That Never Ends' aka 'Neverending Story'...
This was their very first OST, and even thiugh they were but a year into their careers, and of course since selfmade from day 1 kpop groups were not really a thing, particularly in Big4, the show provided the song. Still though, as is customary for true rappers like those in SKZ, Changbin insisted that if he was going to rap, it had to be his own work. So it was... marking them as the fastest, if not the youngest, heck, maybe even the first, to have credits on a Kdrama OST. The live performance truly was beautiful, specially for such a difficult song. Han and Seungmin were spectacular, as was the whole group. Please watch it if you haven't yet. The next one was their first OST, which was entrusted to them at such a high level. 'Hello Stranger' is a VERY good one too, rather fun for a Kdrama. The fandom really likes it. There's a little MV, too. They look SO GOOD. 😊
THEN, there were the first two they did in the Japanese language for Tower of God. However, it's from a Korean webtoon or manga (not exactly sure) that was adapted into a Japanese anime. So there was also a Korean version. And because it started as Korean, it makes sense they got a Korean group. However, this was their first anime, as well as the first time a Korean K-pop Group was given both the Intro and the Outro of a Japanese program.
More importantly, both songs were THEIRS. 'TOP' and 'SLUMP' happen to both be the work of the Kids with 'SLUMP' having been written by Han before they were commissioned. So, actually, they ended up commissioning one song and adopting the other from them. (Its still their song, in fact, because they have credits for them all, including the first, whether they can perform them whenever they want to. They even perform them on tour.) These songs are the reason why they were invited on 'The First Take', which is why 'SLUMP' was tjeir first performance there.
Which was, of course, the first time a Korean act had been invited. Of course, the First Take audience was very skeptical about this when it was announced. They didn't have a good impression of pop groups in terms of live vocals, and they were worried it would be a trainwreck. Needless to say, they were pleasantly surprised. Hence the reason they have been invited back 4 more times and were even given the honor of performing the first Korean language song on the show. Meanwhile, 'TOP' was a Japanese treasure instantly. Truly. That song, 2 nearly 3 years after its debut, is STILL at the top of the Japanese chart, having NEVER left it one.
What's even crazier.... is that 'TOP' is the longest charting song EVER in the charts HISTORY (Oricon) for a foreign artist. Not just Korean, the world. The LONGEST. (I think it holds several other records, too, lol). So, yeah, they are pretty darn big over there. Even had their own Japanese variety show! It's not bad for a group with no Japanese members. (They really appreciate how much work SKZ put in learning Japanese. Considering that Han and BangChan are two of the very best speakers in the group, im guessing that being the producers and writers when it comes to even their Japanese music has more benefits than one would think. Lol As their diction and pronunciation are spectacular.)
Heck, come to think about it, unlike most groups. I don't even think their Korean albums are labeled for sale there. They have a Japanese distributor, but i am pretty sure they only handle their Japanese music. Because i noticed that Stray Kids are ALWAYS charting and getting massively large certifications for their Korean albums STREAMING numbers, the highest streamed in 4th gen and one of the highest in K-pop However, they don't have ANY certifications in Japan for ANY of their Korean albums, only Japanese. 🤔
Off topic, I apologize. Just struck me as odd, considering I recall seeing PLENTY of other K-pop groups chart their Korean language albums there and receive certification for physical sales. But NEVER Syray Kids. And considering how massive they are, there wigh their Japanese albums, and how big their streaming certifications for their Korean albums are, I simply dont think their albums are actually labeled for sale or charting there. Which explains why when they have Korean comebacks, Japanese sales and therfore charting is never mentioned.
ANYWAYS! LOL, the point is, they ARE definitely loved there. So, I'm wouldn't be at ALL surprised if they WERE the first K-pop group to be asked to do a Jdrama. They are truly such talented... EVERYTHING. I'm convinced 3RACHA can do NO WRONG. 😂 Oh yeah, and personally (i think it counts), 'HEYDAY' which they wrote and produced. I seriously call bs on that producer who claimed all those songs on the album and even went so far as to put his name in parentheses next to the title of their song as well as at the top of the credits list. The kids did it, whilst under the LACK of knowledge from that very same producer when it came to what exactly they wanted. The kids, and the fans, were told "a rap song for one of the groups to choreograph a 3 minute performance to" not "an extremely generic rap song with threadbare production that you wouldnt mind being chopped up for a mashup of 3 different songs."
Which is why theirs was SO different and SO complex compared to ALL 8 of the ones provided by the other groups. Why would a producer purposefully mess up only one of them by putting too much effort into it, and have the BPM be nearly unmatchable to any 2 of the other songs, causing the group that got it to only be able to use 30 seconds of it, but use OVER a minute of both of the others? Lol They wouldn't. But he still acted like he did because i guess it's better than admitting the boys who actually made that badass song (which, by the way.... It's WAY better than the tonedeaf monotone song and the FairyOddParents fanboy Timmy Turner songs if paired with. Talk about not wanting to give away your best work.) Which, i must say.... Stray Kids ALWAYS make sure that when they do an OST of ANY kind. It's top tier 3RACHA all the way. They understand their assignment. OSTs are massive publicity for them that THEY are getting paid to have THEM do. Although that song did just that for them on that show, you can tell they weren't happy to have given them a hard as hell dance rap track THAT GOOD all because they failed to communicate they needed generic and were going to butcher it anyway.
I say this because in the song 'Superbowl', they actually referenced only that one. Hmm. Lol... And you could tell between saying "enjoy the free sample" and the context + tone used that their experience regarding that OST and that one ONLY was the furthest thing from a positive experience and that they felt wronged. Like they had just given it away, and with him taking credit and putting their names at the bottom, it kinda came off that way, too. These days, the bottom of the list insinuates the least amount of input. They used to put their names at the bottom of the lists in their own songs, but thats just because SkZ did their credits by age, not input, and they were always the youngest. But if you notice now... they haven't done that in ages. Im guessing it's because of that assumption. So I'm sure they felt insulted having their producing staff put their names first. As SKZ were on tour when they produced that, and you could tell it was their production. Its ALWAYS their production. Lol, the whole thing was a mess with that deal, but SKZ killed it, and they got back at MNET by saying FU and bailing on MAMA. Went and got some sun on Jeju and came back the morning after MAMA all tan, some of them wearing souvenir sunglasses. 😅 Han said it was Linos idea. he's so diabolical.
