It's why I'm always impressed with a true Freshman starting. For the vast majority of us, we had the HS gym to workout in after a crash course in how to lift weights. You gotta beat out and play against dudes that have spent 2-3 years in a legit strength and conditioning program that has millions of dollars poured into it with experts leading the training
Hahah exactly. Going from playing lb in public high school where mayyybe the other teams line averages 225 lbs with maybe a couple outliers, to lining up and seeing every guy is over 6’4 300 is kinda crazy. You go from being one of the heaviest and strongest guys on the field, to being tiny in comparison to the lineman haha.

As a 49ers fan I've always said Rodgers was my favorite and best QB in the league for probably 10 years now. I do feel Mahomes have a opportunity to surpass him if he keeps on this trajectory and I know Brady is universally said to be the greatest and I respect that because of his accomplishments but for me it's Rodgers
@Chris-qh5tz 4 MVPs 4 1st team all pros super bowl champion and superbowl mvp. Lmao do you have any idea how many people would kill to have a career like that? But he gets judged for not winning more championships when his defense gives up 45 points.🙄
@@Kfarm2711 Not just winning more championships but he's only been to the Superbowl once. In which the NFC has been inferior to the AFC during the 2010s. On a stacked team. With Charles Woodson, Donald Driver, Greg Jennings, Jordy Nelson, Ryan Grant, Clay Matthews, AJ Hawk, BJ Raji etc. You can blame the defense but he never took less money in order to pay for other defensive players like Tom Brady did his whole career. In the debate of GOATS no one cares about MVPs and All-Pros, they care about multiple rings which is why he's below Tom Brady, Patrick Mahomes and yes, even Peyton Manning. I would even go as far as to say Brett Favre is just as accomplished as Arod is.
I think one of the best things about sports is how it brings people together. Marshawn and Aaron don't seem like they'd have too much in common. But there's a respect between them because they've been teammates and because they take care of their teammates. Great story.

You know that running back coach saw this, came out of retirement just to make some assistant go dig through hours of spring game tape just to find this play so he can say I knew I was right!
lol his running back coach was Coach Ron Gould. Dude is a legend at Cal..he produced like 10 NFL studs just at Cal. Then he went to Stanford when Cal fired Tedford in 2012 or 2013 I think. He did well at Stanford too. JJ Aarington, Lynch, Forsett, Vereen, Jahvid Best, a bunch of others that went on to nfl rosters.
I love this podcast. Being from Canada it was always hard to get fs1 to see Shannon before. But watching him interview not only is he entertaining he’s amazing at letting the guest tell the story and only interject when needed or it adds to it. And his personality is infectious but always matches the guest even in this case where Marshawn is laid back and Shannon tends to be more energetic
Well, I think it's one thing to think he'd be good. But he's an all-time great. Almost impossible to forecast that for any football player. He's better than Brady. At least on par with Manning. I'm a KC guy so I'll leave PM15 out of the conversation because I'm biased.
I thought he would be one of the best quarterbacks talent wise but I wasn’t sure if he’d handle the pressure of replacing Brett Favre. Nothing in regards to his skills and intangibles but being we’ve only seen this kind of success once before with Joe Montana and Steve Young
From what I remember, he was actually slated to be the number 1 overall pick that year. The 49ers apparently didn’t like his personality and went with Alex Smith instead and that, in turn, scared a lot of teams off. In hindsight, it was a horrible miss for the 49ers, but Alex Smith ended up having a solid career.

A Rod a real one. I take back all the negative things I said about him. - Lions fan.
Rodgers gets a bad rep from the media, etc. but you've never heard him be a toxic/awful teammate outside of a Greg Jennings.
And Jennings got put in his place quickly.
Bcuz of the stupid vaccine debacle. I understand his politics but it gives you no reason to break the rules and lie. So stupid of him.
And Jermichael Finley........he and Jennings both have made a career out of bashing Aaron Rodgers. But both of them fail to remember is, without Aaron Rodgers, no one would know either of them, and, neither would have a super bowl ring!
@janelaughrin5153 Yea at leats Greg admitred he was salty about not being resigned... i have NO IDEA why Finley chose to bash Aaron
I don't think it was Greg Jennings that did that. Jeremichael Finley eluded to that notion but Skip Bayless was and still is the #1 anti Aaron Rodgers with a driven narrative of Rodgers as this over rated terrible QB.
Great story... Beast Mode has been blessed to be paired with some talented personell... I'm happy he's settled into a place where he can feel comfortable sharing his stories with us also.
Its awesome to hear these kind of stories
I love to hear this Story, my favorite NFL QB and person in the NFL.
That 2004 Cal team was unbelievable.
I went to dang near every game home and away in 04. I still got my Jeff Tedford bobblehead lol.
@@TheLaughingMustache-oh5ff now Jeff doing great things at Fresno state
For real. Cal should've taken down USC that year.
What was their record?
You never know what Marshawn would've been if Aaron didn't vouch for him.
Those “so I don’t get fined” pressers made this guy famous af lol you will never forget marshawn
beastquake, stealing the cart driving around the field, skittles, sizzler, he's more than that
As a Saints fan, I promise you, there were a few other things.
Bro as a freshman that’s exactly what it’s like in college FB like DANG! Them grown ups 😂😂😂
Bruh senior of high school I had a couple of offers (as a lineman) and went to visit a school and IMMEDIATELY realized I wasn’t cut from the same cloth as those dudes 😂
Funny how Shannon was talking crazy about A Rod around covid time calling him all kinds of names and saying he's a bad teammate but is quiet when it comes out of a teammates mouth
JJ Arrington was a beast in college he was putting up video game numbers at CAL Marshawn lynch seized his opportunity and then they had Desean Jackson. Great years man
JJ Arrington averaged 7 yards per carry his last year in college
Thank you!!! I was trying to find who it was
@@johnsolo1439damn 👀👀
The 3rd RB on the roster was NE Pats running back too Justin Forsett. That team was unbelievable.@@willardmatsaudza3101Imagine being the 4th string and like...welp...carries might be tough to come by lol. He was a true frosh (I think. He might of come in 05, but I thought it was 04.)
Man watching this brings back some memories. Those were some amazing years for Cal. It was so much fun watching these guys play college ball then make it big in the NFL.
Beastmode a real one. These are the kind of players every winning team needs in the locker room. Respect to Aaron Rogers 👏 👏
as a lions fan i still stand by my statement, Arod the most talented QB i’ve ever seen. Mahomes may have something to say about it but man young arod was automatic
Arod is overrated compared to what he has accomplished.
Aaron at least won with the packers, a team that never gets free agents hardly. That makes a big difference.@@t.o.8171
This story did my heart some good 😊
Aaron saw the potential before everyone else. He knew Beast Mode was going to be one of the GOATs.
The glory days of cal football. Man we really didn’t know how good we had it back then. Just lucky to have been a kid living through it. Special times.
Jason Kidd too
Bruh the more I watch club shay shay the more I realize Shannon literally coulda never played football and just been a talk show host and probably woulda gone HOF in it😂😂 the guy is such a great interviewer it’s actually insane he’s better than most of the people who been doin it their whole lige
This story is🔥🔥🔥smooth interview
This story puts a positive light on rodgers.
Arrington … Lynch … Justin Forset! Cal 2004. What a backfield!
I remember those Cal games with these two, they were potent and winning a lot of games catching the attention of the Bowl selection committees.
Man that’s real talk I played with Aaron at butte and he do stuff like that.
how was he as a person?
@@usmcmikeco0651lynch just told us what type of person he is
Another reason... forget the rings... that shows rodgers is the 🐐
Funny
As a Cowboys fan I haven’t ever liked A a Ron but seeing him with the Jets now I’m rooting for him to recover soon and complete his career. He has humbled himself as well. Much respect to Beast-mode and A.Rodgers.
I don’t think he ever had a problem with humility. That was a narrative that was never substantiated.
CaptainKirk007 as a fellow Cowboy fan I agree.
as a packer fan, im glad ya'll got a decent kicker fr. Dallas SB this year?
REAL ONE FROM DAY ONE! Respect
My two favorites of all time. “Them grown ups!” We have all been there. 😂
A rods official hood validation. Somebody mark this date.
What does that even mean? hood validation? Jesus christ this is embarrassing!
@@arenlarken8647 why so serious?
Aaron always been a good dude can't believe the headlines
I remember being a kid and thinking Aaron Rodgers was an awesome quarterback when he was in college. I’m surprised people didn’t expect his greatness
Nothing in regards to his skills and intangibles but being we’ve only seen this kind of success once before with Joe Montana and Steve Young
think a big part of that was him coming from a community college. by the end, most people knew (he was on the skills challenge)
@@rafterman5072ironically, Mike Mccarthy spoke up against drafting Rodgers when he was with SF at the time.
“Dem grown-ups!” 😂😂😂
I used to use this team on ncaa football. I was unstoppable. 😂
ARod a real one for that
I really like Aaron Rogers. He just does not cower to authority (media).
He knows his worth.
Dope story BeastMode! Being a lifelong Lion’s fan, (insert random Rodger’s shot 😆)! But he is a real one for this story and that’s probably once of many.
I remember that CAL team, Deshaun Jackson was also on that team. That's the last time we had a good college football team in the East Bay
Shannon was one of the people pushing that narrative about A ARon.
exactly
As does Stephen A
This was great to hear real team member chemistry and sportsmanship because nowadays you just don’t hear good news any more
Broooo I love this interview. Lynch has always been one of my favorite people let alone Rbs... As a Packers fan I could only imagine what would have been if we had him on the squad.
As a Packers fan also Aaron tried to get beast mode when he was a free agent off his rookie deal and JJ Watt but Seattle matched the deal and we ended up keeping Lacy and Houston gave JJ the max to keep him
As a Jet fan this is awesome and frustrating!! 😂😢😂😢😂
Haha, I hear ya… I’m a packers fan but still curious to see if he can lead the jets to a superbowl. Hopefully he can get healthy and give it a go next year. I was disappointed to see him get injured. Had to be heartbreaking for jets fans. 😢
I used to think Aaron rogers was a clown, this story done changed my mind COMPLETELY.! Shout out Aaron rogers for helping Beast Mode even become Beast Mode
Marshawn is a good dude. Seriously Funny. Glad I got a chance to meet him on a few occasions.
I just found whole new respect for A Rod
Great stuff. I could listen to stories like this all day.
Rodgers is the most talented QB of all time, definitely will go down as a football legend forever
So talented he got 1 ring
He's a great thrower of the football, sure. But there were too many big moments where he was gun shy. He seemed to care more about his to TD to interception ratio than he did about winning games sometimes.
Football is a team sport, thanks for proving you never played at any level 🤡
Trueee if Rodgers had Andy Reid and that great defense or Coach Belichick he would have 10 superbowls
@@DillonDank Bro what? How does me saying he’s the most talented QB make me a clown? It’s just my opinion
I gotta watch this whole interview, or more of this Club Shay Shay stuff. I like this format.
He took a step back when that first puff 💨 came out 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂
More respect for A-Aron after hearing Marshawn tell this story. Even more of a reason to not get rid of #12 from my closet. Despite all of the media BS, he is someone most people (and athletes) should emulate.
Great key and peele reference
Thats some real shitc
Love both these guys. I have no idea what they are talking about 70% of the time in this conversation.
A. Rogers is Top 5 All-Time. He’s a Bad Man.
✌🏿
The Packers ho'd their franchise the last decade. They were so close to several super bowls, only to fall short due to sorry coaching and trash defense in the playoffs.
I thought Shannon Sharpe said he wasn’t a leader??
Unretire, join the Jets and Aaron or Zach give him the hand-off that wins the Superbowl! Now that's a Cinderella story.
Bro why you do me like that. That will make me forget the pain when they didn’t give the ball to beast mode Vs the patriots in the Super Bowl.
