    bruh, 2 amazing moments. 1) When your boy went into the water with his shoes on. . . I MEAN EPIC!!! had me lol'ing so hard my wife asked what the heck happened. Thanks for sharing that and not editing it out. 2) Keep the rudder side down, very clever lol. I actually purchased the Horizon Emulator to start practicing getting used to flying dynamics and controls. I just didn't like the idea of going out and buying a nice looking airplane just to send it crashing into the earth on my first outing, lol. The investment of the simulator seemed like a much better option just to get the feel before I head out. Thanks for sharing the experience! look forward to possibly some more air content. Just not at the expense of the crawling stuff, lol.

    No planes.... Yet! I did pickup the sim and controller and that has been fun in these early days of dad duty and some decent practice (at least I think). Always more fun to be had in RC!

      There ya go that’s a perfect start. Nothing quite compares to actually having one in the air though definitely a good way to get an idea for controls

    I used to. I gave it up because I lose my patience with the things. I have one of those FMS PA-18's new in the box, but without floats... gonna throw it up on CL. My favorite plane was the Turbo Timber Evolution but the PA-18 has vastly better landing gear. I still have several UMX planes too. They all have to go. If I was close to Hurricane right now I'd give them all to you. Honest. Sadly, I'm not.

    Digging the plane for sure . I am thinking planes have a long way seems more steady than the old ones I used to fly. Maybe it was just me who knows

      It has some stabilization to fight being wobbly but I maintain full control with AS3X that I’m flying in

    If you get the opportunity to slope soar give it a try. Admittedly it is dependent on wind direction but I see many of the hills you crawl on are more than big enough to fly from. Strongly suggest an EPP foam wing. Yes i crawl and fly. Crawling is available any daylight hour. Slope requires wind from a certain direction. Check out the speeds obtained dynamic.soaring on U tube before you jump to the conclusion that slope is slow.
    Give Sydney a pat and a kind word .

    Like to share this with you. When leveling off put your stick on radio under the low wing when flying towards you. Same concept with cross wind steer vertical stabilizer and aileron into the wind . View king school on you tube to learn flight concepts. Rc planes respond like real planes. They explain flight in simple terms.

    Make you turn and approach farther out to maintain speed. If you turn too slow and too great of an angle the plane will loose lift and smash .

      @westdesertwheeler  4 місяці тому

      Yep I’m always ready with throttle if it starts to stall a wing. This plane is super forgiving to fly and turn

      I eliminated the FMS stabilization, I have safe and as3x so basically free flight and auto level with limited banking. Everything in this video was full control

      You can get a trainer ready to fly for a bit over 200. Only one way to learn. The excitement trying not to crash is what makes it fun

    Brother, you aced that take off and the landing! Planes are on my list, currently have a Mavic 2 Pro, which is a blast to fly. You've gotten me excited about planes now, thanks!
    Sorry to go OT, but not sure how else to contact you. I am building a Capra, have a ton of things for it, and done some work on it already. I have a Vader skid, going to go with the Fusion Pro, and am looking at 3 gear transmissions, coupled with the Hurtz 3 position Dig. I am currently leaning towards either the Vanquish 3 gear, or the SCX10 II. Do you prefer one of those, over the other, or is there a better option?
    My wife passed last year, and I started watching your videos, which gave me some much needed motivation to dig back into the hobby that she and I loved so much, together. So, thank you, very much, for that, truly!

    • @westdesertwheeler
      @westdesertwheeler  4 місяці тому +1

      I would strongly suggest the vanquish case because I know it will fit. There are some plastic 10.2 transmission cases that don’t fit with the Hurtz unit. Glad I can help man I went through a lot last year too I know how it is.

      @@westdesertwheeler Thank you so much for the reply, Brother! Vanquish it is! Yeah, when you lose your partner, your best friend, the person you have done everything for and with for 26 years, it can be soul crushing for sure. I am really glad you came through your troubles too. I appreciate what you do man, and always look forward to your next video, thanks again!

    Are you using a spectrum dx 6. Nice computer radio. Adjust throttle sensitivity on xpo setting to dumb down the sticks. Rtr non computer screen radios are like on off switches. Only buy bind and fly and put all planes on 1 good quality radio. Flying is fun. Need to try floats.

    • @westdesertwheeler
      @westdesertwheeler  4 місяці тому

      I’m using a DX9 I’ve played with expo on my Extra 300 but this plane is pretty mellow so I didn’t mess with it. Definitely try your floats!

    • @allmightygreat1892
      @allmightygreat1892 4 місяці тому

      @@westdesertwheeler perfect. A 30 % decrease can make a hard to fly plane more controllable. Good move to buy dx9. Try the eflite 230 heli. Bind to dx9. It has a 3 modes and safe. Your land is so pretty. Are you near matts off road recovery. They make really cool videos in land that looks like yours. Im from the flatlands of north il. No shortage of asphalt and buildings.
