We need to able to disconnect from work for our own mental health if absolutely nothing else - I have no social media outside YT and would never trust my employer with any social media information if I did have it!
even if you have it, Meta and twitter will leak your account because those people are around you using the app, Twitter can be made private to the point no one will find you or you find peeople you may know, but meta social media is a bothersome no matter what you do it always leak your accounts you wont be able to disconnect unless you create a separate account in your phone and never use the one in your other phone
"But I'm your Manager" "Yeah, in work. Not every fucking second" Now I think it's the right time to call the Police. This is Stalking, pure and simple. Being a "Manager" does not mean you are allowed to stick your nose in your Employee's business when they are off the Clock.
i have 2 social media. One i have listed as private and one that i will do a few daily posts on specifically for work to view when they get nosy, i just tell them the "private account" is one i haven't used in ages and cant remember the PW for.
As long as you don't name-drop the place where you work or your boss's/employee's name, as well as not using your real name as the user, you should be safe. Thank you Etra-Chan for teaching me that.
tbh some people are curious and find who you are, depends on how obvious you are, i personally wont share my social media with coworkers unless i need to and once i leave the company i will give to the close ones my other phone number
"Representing our brand and making sure that your online persona aligns with our brand." Considering that I only use social media when I'm off work/off the clock, you're basically saying asking me to freely represent the company 24/7 instead of only the 8 hours that you normally pay me for. I wouldn't even consider giving you 24-hour access to me without an additional day rate on top of my regular working pay. Honestly, I'd probably wouldn't give you 24-hour access to me even with the additional day rate. Why? Because I only get so much time outside of work for friends, family, and hobbies. In the words of Veronica, "I'm not giving my time outside of this job to you for anything."
They do this at many government jobs in the United States. Not only that, they want your password and username so that they can post to your account. This is why I only have a UA-cam account. My manager actually demanded I get a Facebook, Twitter and Instagram account so they could post to them. Sorry, but not sorry.
Thank God that as of 1/25/2025, VBA doesn't demand it. Not that I actually use my SM for much of anything at all, but nobody gets access to the admin stuff but me, not even Uncle Sam my employer
I drive school buses for a living. Last year my boss wanted to talk to me about things I'd posted on my Facebook. I said it wasn't any of his business. He said, "well, what if someone gets offended and calls us to complain?" My response: "It's not on you to worry about Freedom of Speech, but if you insist..." I pulled up my Facebook account on my phone and turned so he could see what I was doing. He smiled when he thought I was gonna delete my account, until he saw me just delete my work history, then he got really confused. "There - now nobody will know I work here. Problem solved. Any further issues can come to me in writing through HR." Never heard shit about it again.
If the company wants to have a say in what I do outside of work, they can pay me overtime during those hours. 24 hours/day × 7 days/wk = 168 hours. Subtract the 40 hours of regular pay and that's 128 hours at time-and-a-half per week. So if you want to have access to my social media, you'll have to pay me 5.8× as much as you're currently paying me.
this is the reason i dont have social media, to be more specific, Meta related social media, everyone in your company, family, neighbours and so on will find your profile, Twitter became the same is a bothersome, you want to relax and the first thing you see is the person you fight with, once my boss and i fought abput a topic outside my job, thats why i ddont like to use social mEdia in my phone when im in my job and have a different phone for job and personal life
I had a boss who tried similar. It upset them to learn I had no social media to the point they almost refused to hire me.
At this point, I'd be calling HR to file a complaint on my manager for stalking me.
Hey as long as the employee isn't committing a crime Karen has no business to keep tabs on her employees on social media.

Same here.

When not on the clock, the manager can kick rocks.
"But I'm your Manager"
"Yeah, in work. Not every fucking second"

I remember a story, this was years ago, of a business owner demanding the passwords to his employees social media. Don't remember the outcome.
I think I recall this, and I feel like they fought back in court and won.
When the army started getting snoopy, I logged off in 2013, and never looked back.
Was expecting one last "but I'm your manager" then ended XD

wtf i would sue her!
With what money?
With the way that manager behaves, I can tell that job barely pays anything decent.

Oh no 😮😂
Hell no your personal social media is not your jobs business
As if the manager hs a life outside work....
