My husband bought me a remote starter for my 2007 Ford Edge for Christmas and had it installed by the local Ford Dealer. They told him that this feature could not be disabled. He even spoke to the technician who installed it who explained that he could try to disable the door ajar switch????? But would not guarantee this would work. After my husband found the programming button he simply followed the video and it worked perfectly!!!!!!! Thank You so much !!!!!

I used this on my 2012 Ford Expedition max and this video is spot on. The hardest part was finding the button. Mine I had to take off 2 panels to get behind the pedal adjuster and it was in there with the led. This is after asking two different ford dealers about this and showing them the video! Thanks very much!

Thanks you for the video, Ford said it could not be done. I have went to 3 ford dealers and no one could fix the problem. They all told me yes we can but no one could. It only takes 5 minutes.
Thanks Mitch! It worked on our 2014 Expedition Limited. Had to go to the dealer to program an additional remote start fob. They initially said removing the ignition kill could not be done. I told them it could. I saw it on UA-cam;) The service guy did some additional leg work and found a pdf on line with written directions. If you Google "System 100 Keyless Entry Remote Start Systems" a pdf should pop up pretty high up. On other forums he determined that under the bank 2 section they have a option 7 which reads "not used." That's the one they use for the ignition kill but they don't want anyone to know about it. Hi. It was under the front dash to the left of the steering column. That was where it was on the expedition. It should be in that general area for your vehicle as well. It may be up in there further. You will probably have to lay down and look up there with a flash light.

For a Ford Escape 2012, we must change the procedure. For entering in learning mode we must beginning by: Hold brake and hold service button all together and after turn the ignition key ON and wait approx 10 seconds (until it honks 3 times). After you can follow the video. If you want that your vehicule works 15 minutes (instead of 10 min), you can change the option #3 in bank #2. It works for Ford Escape 2012. Once you have it set not to turn off when you get in, you just put the key right into the ignition, you do not have to turn it as if starting it again? And thank you so much for making this video. All the other posts kept posting a link to a page that wouldn't load.

if you put the key in the ignition you can drive it as normal. if you dont have the key or put it in the ignition then your car will turn off if you try to take it out of park or press your foot on the gas.
Excellent, now one question is killing me, I hear you need both original oem two keys to complete the installation of this remote starter kit, well I lost one I don't have it anymore, I have only one, so what's it gonna be??
I was not installing a remote starter kit, just modifying the settings of the existing installed remote start. To modify the settings (as seen in the video) you only need one key. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
I can't guarantee it because I haven't tried it on that model but from everything I read, it should be the same remote start system. So it should work just fine.

Ok, so this video is awesome! However, my husband and I have now screwed up my remote start. We got all the way to the part where I was supposed to push the button on the fob, but my husband pushed the program button instead. Plus, the doors were open and the hood was up. We went through again and followed all of the directions again, but the remote start won't work. I push the remote start button, and it acts like it is going to work, but doesn't and honks at my four short times. Any idea what I screwed up and if I can fix it?

I've tested the hood anti theft switch and it's fine. I've disconnected the battery for 10 min and nothing. All doors, windows, and sunroof are closed. Any suggestions? I live in Florida with 2 children and she needs that remote start and I want to use your above video to allow the truck to remain running afterwards. That has always been a pain. This is why I installed an after market alarm with remote start. Way more options and flexibility. I just posted an updated video on it. I was going to get this option, but decided against it after I heard about these issues (no fix was posted then). Another common issue is the installers not connecting the accessory wire and the a/c or heat not coming on when remote starting (isn't that the whole point?). When people complained about it the service center said there wasn't anything they could do. I wonder if Ford instructed the installers to play dumb on this feature or if the people that are installing them really don't know the program options? The system comes with the instructions with the different settings and they had to have seen them several times over the times they have installed these.

I have a 2014 Ford Escape and added a remote starter a month after buying the car. When I start the car with the remote and open the door, the car continues to run. But you must insert the key into the ignition and turn the key to the "on" position. Any other action, like putting your foot on the brake will shut the car off. Perhaps customers complained after the 2010 model year and they reversed themselves. I know that my wife's Subaru Outback shuts off as soon as you open the door which is really aggravating - especially in winter when all you want to do is get out the snow/ice scraper while the windows continue to defrost.

Could you (or anyone else who has attempted this) describe how you were able to access the remote start service button under the dash with the driver's side door closed? It is impossible for me to get to it on my 2011 Fusion when the door is closed. Do I have to remove the lower dash panel, or is there another way? Thanks again.

Hi there great video. I had a few years ago the pdf manual that showed what all error beeps mean and what all the stages mean. My remote starter stopped working recently because of the rear latch. Once I fixed it I cleared the codes and even reset the battery. When I go to remote start, I get 1 beep instead of a crank. Do you know of a link on where I can get the full manual on this?

There were several people that got it working on a 2013, I asked them in the comments if there were any deviations from my instructions. Hopefully they will respond with some help.

hmm.. I cant verify because I do not own a ford that doesnt use a key, It should still work, You HAVE to hold the brake pedal and turn the key to the on position(not starting the car) just the on position. While still holding the brake pedal hold the programming button for 10 seconds. ALSO, make sure you are in and the door is CLOSED. Due to door ajar polarity signals, the door must be closed. Hope this helps.

This is a new one, are you pushing the panic button? I would probably take it to a local ford dealership and have them look at it. It may be an easy fix that they will do for free. or cheap. Sorry I couldn't be more help, but I don't have access to a ford to troubleshoot issues.
I actually just ended up removing the car's battery and putting it back in, and I'm guessing this reset something as the remote starter works now. I'm sure following the steps on your video would have worked as well. Thanks for checking up.
Hey Mitch. I have a 2008 Ford Escape and my wife has trouble pushing the key in hard enough to be able to start it consistently. Is there a way that you know of to bypass the need to push the key in so hard and just have it operate normally. They say it is a safety feature but it's just a pain really. I wanted this to work very badly. However, the first time i tried i actually held down the key fob button instead of just pressing it once. Now when I try the remote start it just does turns on the accessory power instead of trying to start the vehicle. Any suggestions?
Mitch can you tell me if this would work on 2010 F150 with mykey system also what the part number of the Ford kit i would need to make this work if you to Ford accesories. It said under the year of my truck when then door is open or key installed the truck will die. i do not wnat it to die unless i turn it off so i would like to get the part number kit correct. I also saw aome information on ebay about a bypass do i need this?
Now will the other safety things work like if there is no key in the car and you put it in drive, will it cut the car off? Or if you hit the break with no key in, will it also cut the car off?

Hello Mitch, I tried this on my 2012 Expedition EL Limited and it worked like a charm. One thing though, now when I shift into drive, I get a message that says Front Parking Aid ON and I get a loud tone. If I hit reset on the dash the alarm goes away. It will also go away at speeds over 6 mph but returns if I stop. How can I disable this front park aid?
Hmm. I am sorry, I no longer have access to this vehicle so I have no way of troubleshooting the issue. I would recommend taking it to ford if it is still under warranty, and see if they can provide a quick fix. Otherwise, hopefully someone else on here can chime in and help.
My F 150 (2009-14) won’t remote start. Whenever I press the button it chirps 5 times. They said it’s P1260. Theft deterrence enables on remote start and the theft light blinks fast. How do u fix this issue? I’ve tried everything.

Hello, hoping you can help. For some reason pressing the brake to cycle through isn't working for my 2013 Expedition. If I leave my door open i can get to option 2, but i can't cycle to #7. Am I missing something? I've seen others with 2013 models have success.
any idea how to re-program a remote i cant seem to get it and have been following instructions i dont have the LED bulb near the service button to know which function is enabled / not. I'm having the same difficulty with a 2013 escape. I've tried it with the door closed and it just keeps cycling between Option Bank 1 and Option Bank 2 with the 4 / 5 honks respectively. The remote start was installed by the dealership outside the factory.

if you put the key in the ignition you can drive it as normal. if you dont have the key or put it in the ignition then your car will turn off if you try to take it out of park or press your foot on the gas.

Excellent, now one question is killing me, I hear you need both original oem two keys to complete the installation of this remote starter kit, well I lost one I don't have it anymore, I have only one, so what's it gonna be??
I was not installing a remote starter kit, just modifying the settings of the existing installed remote start. To modify the settings (as seen in the video) you only need one key. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
I can't guarantee it because I haven't tried it on that model but from everything I read, it should be the same remote start system. So it should work just fine.

Ok, so this video is awesome! However, my husband and I have now screwed up my remote start. We got all the way to the part where I was supposed to push the button on the fob, but my husband pushed the program button instead. Plus, the doors were open and the hood was up. We went through again and followed all of the directions again, but the remote start won't work. I push the remote start button, and it acts like it is going to work, but doesn't and honks at my four short times. Any idea what I screwed up and if I can fix it?

Mitch. Great video. I'm in need of your assistance. Recently my wife's 2010 Expedition's remote start quit working. The doors lock, horn beeps twice and nothing. I've tested the hood anti theft switch and it's fine. I've disconnected the battery for 10 min and nothing. All doors, windows, and sunroof are closed. Any suggestions? I live in Florida with 2 children and she needs that remote start and I want to use your above video to allow the truck to remain running afterwards. That has always been a pain. This is why I installed an after market alarm with remote start. Way more options and flexibility. I just posted an updated video on it. I was going to get this option, but decided against it after I heard about these issues (no fix was posted then). Another common issue is the installers not connecting the accessory wire and the a/c or heat not coming on when remote starting (isn't that the whole point?). When people complained about it the service center said there wasn't anything they could do.
I wonder if Ford instructed the installers to play dumb on this feature or if the people that are installing them really don't know the program options? The system comes with the instructions with the different settings and they had to have seen them several times over the times they have installed these.

I have a 2014 Ford Escape and added a remote starter a month after buying the car. When I start the car with the remote and open the door, the car continues to run. But you must insert the key into the ignition and turn the key to the "on" position. Any other action, like putting your foot on the brake will shut the car off. Perhaps customers complained after the 2010 model year and they reversed themselves. I know that my wife's Subaru Outback shuts off as soon as you open the door which is really aggravating - especially in winter when all you want to do is get out the snow/ice scraper while the windows continue to defrost.

Could you (or anyone else who has attempted this) describe how you were able to access the remote start service button under the dash with the driver's side door closed? It is impossible for me to get to it on my 2011 Fusion when the door is closed. Do I have to remove the lower dash panel, or is there another way? Thanks again.

Hi there great video. I had a few years ago the pdf manual that showed what all error beeps mean and what all the stages mean. My remote starter stopped working recently because of the rear latch. Once I fixed it I cleared the codes and even reset the battery. When I go to remote start, I get 1 beep instead of a crank. Do you know of a link on where I can get the full manual on this?

There were several people that got it working on a 2013, I asked them in the comments if there were any deviations from my instructions. Hopefully they will respond with some help.
wait a minute, what about pressing the gas pedal while it's still on with no key inserted will the truck turn off or do nothing ? plus who or how did you learn this from?

hmm.. I cant verify because I do not own a ford that doesnt use a key, It should still work, You HAVE to hold the brake pedal and turn the key to the on position(not starting the car) just the on position. While still holding the brake pedal hold the programming button for 10 seconds. ALSO, make sure you are in and the door is CLOSED. Due to door ajar polarity signals, the door must be closed. Hope this helps.

Whenever I press the remote starter, the car will honk, headlights will turn on but instead of turning on the engine, the panic alarm will go off. Would you know the reason for this? This is a new one, are you pushing the panic button? I would probably take it to a local ford dealership and have them look at it. It may be an easy fix that they will do for free. or cheap. Sorry I couldn't be more help, but I don't have access to a ford to troubleshoot issues.

I actually just ended up removing the car's battery and putting it back in, and I'm guessing this reset something as the remote starter works now. I'm sure following the steps on your video would have worked as well. Thanks for checking up.

Hey Mitch. I have a 2008 Ford Escape and my wife has trouble pushing the key in hard enough to be able to start it consistently. Is there a way that you know of to bypass the need to push the key in so hard and just have it operate normally. They say it is a safety feature but it's just a pain really. I was thinking to go to a remote start if necessary but I really don't want to put extra money into it if I don't have to. Thanks, Pat P.

I wanted this to work very badly. However, the first time i tried i actually held down the key fob button instead of just pressing it once. Now when I try the remote start it just does turns on the accessory power instead of trying to start the vehicle. Any suggestions?
Mitch can you tell me if this would work on 2010 F150 with mykey system also what the part number of the Ford kit i would need to make this work if you to Ford accesories. It said under the year of my truck when then door is open or key installed the truck will die. i do not wnat it to die unless i turn it off so i would like to get the part number kit correct. After you do all of this, do I have to back out of the menu somehow or can I just take the key out?

Great video Mr. Cox. I have another problem. I noticed the battery cables on my 2011 Expedition needed to be cleaned. After I took them off and cleaned them the factory installed remote start will start the vehicle for about 3 seconds then it dies. I there a fix for this problem? Please advise. Thanks! Robert

Hello Mitch, I tried this on my 2012 Expedition EL Limited and it worked like a charm. One thing though, now when I shift into drive, I get a message that says Front Parking Aid ON and I get a loud tone. If I hit reset on the dash the alarm goes away. It will also go away at speeds over 6 mph but returns if I stop. How can I disable this front park aid?
Hmm. I am sorry, I no longer have access to this vehicle so I have no way of troubleshooting the issue. I would recommend taking it to ford if it is still under warranty, and see if they can provide a quick fix. Otherwise, hopefully someone else on here can chime in and help.

My F 150 (2009-14) won’t remote start. Whenever I press the button it chirps 5 times. They said it’s P1260. Theft deterrence enables on remote start and the theft light blinks fast. How do u fix this issue? I’ve tried everything.
Do I have to have the fob with the key on it to do this? Or can I set it up using the key fob I already have that locks and unlocks?
You need to have the fob that you use to remote start your vehicle. Is yours a keyless push button model?
mitch cox I have a question. I was able to use your video to stop our ford flex from shutting off when the door opened. I pressed the fob too long and got 3 short honks. Is there a fix to bring back the auto start?

If that pdf didnt help, you may have to take it in to ford to get them to reset it. I wouldnt tell them that you were in there messing around. just tell them it quit or something.

Hello, hoping you can help. For some reason pressing the brake to cycle through isn't working for my 2013 Expedition. If I leave my door open i can get to option 2, but i can't cycle to #7. Am I missing something? I've seen others with 2013 models have success.
any idea how to re-program a remote i cant seem to get it and have been following instructions i dont have the LED bulb near the service button to know which function is enabled / not. I'm having the same difficulty with a 2013 escape. I've tried it with the door closed and it just keeps cycling between Option Bank 1 and Option Bank 2 with the 4 / 5 honks respectively. The remote start was installed by the dealership outside the factory.
