We have the GE-branded version of that panel (GE Fireworx FX5). It's quite the capable little conventional panel... We have 2 annunciatior setups (both modules in a dual-gang box) and two remote relay modules (one provides relay outputs for alarm, sup, monitor, trouble, and power, and the other module provides a relay output for each zone). That's how I integrated it into our building management system. We have the dialer as well (F-DACT). This is for a small apartment building. I wish it was addressable, but it's better than the 1960's edwards 120V panel we had...
you kind of sound like a crazy office worker when you were trying to get that one page of the instruction manual to print! You could be a comedian/actor one day!
Nick getting mad had me dieing laughing great video btw it was verry intresesting amd you confused the panel aswell the poor thing was just trying to do its job lol
The devices in the included recycle bin was kind of ironically funny because that’s usually what happens to them after businesses find out the hard way that bottom line over decent fire protection isn’t really the best idea. By the way I just cleaned out all the devices I got from a high school fire system upgrade (or downgrade in my opinion because an EST3 setup took its place).
Very nice video, when you said you also like the small basic panel, I completely agree with you, sometimes basic can also be fun, my main system is just a small Mircom 3 zone 2 nac conventional panel, doesn’t do much but it more than enough for my use
I just started a system test series on my channel with my Firesheld. Its a great panel but I wish there was more power filtering as the FWR does not sound good on the NACs.
@@nics-systems-electric Yes, but not on older devices. Even more modern-ish devices such as the Wheelock MT have a tone difference. Power filtering would be nice on these panels for that reason.
What are u gonna do with the panel? I could have it for my own fire alarm house sense my house don’t have smoke alarms and I’m scared that I might suffocate while sleeping. Which I would need 1 heat detectors system sensor for the furnace room and 6 2W-B i3 smoke detector and I think would be nice having 2 low frequencies sounders for the hallway and the garage. And 1 pull station for the kitchen sense it leads to the garage
Single zone fire alarm panel? Reminds me of the weird all in one units some places in the UK have (it seems to be mainly charity shops that have them) The all in one units i am on about often have an integrated sounder (i think there are some that are designed to connect to external sounders), they all have an integrated call point, and often have some additional controls on it (not always) I don’t know if they support connecting to external devices (such as smoke detectors)
Everything has to go through testing and it would be very expensive for every device to be tested on every system out there so usually brands just give compatibility listings for their own devices which also makes them more money if you can't use alternate devices but really any conventional device for the most part will work on any system just not legally and if it's just contact closure like manual pull station or heat detector it doesn't have to be listed however for addressable it's a lot more obvious why it needs to be listed compatibility
Nice compact Panel Nic. Im gonna guess given the zones mentioned on the labels (dumbwaiter etc) it must have come out of either a hotel or residential facility. Im curious though, how does the quality of the Fireshield stack up to say “The QuickStart? Seen lots of QuickStarts at least in the larger buildings from 2000 onwards but almost no Fire Shields. Super awesome find.
Makes sense as pretty much everything Honeywell puts out these days greatly exceeds anything Edwards put out in the post General Signal era. (1998 onwards) Except many more EST panels to be retired in the future.
You can only have 12 interconnected smoke alarms in a system. A single-zone panel might make sense if you need more devices. With code requiring more smoke alarms in more locations than ever a large house could easily need more than 12.
@@nics-systems-electric I don't know much about fire related codes. The single-zone system with dialer would make sense if there are systems which must be remotely monitored. The one without the dialer, not so much. Maybe it's for people who really don't like going around changing 9v backup batteries.
@@nics-systems-electric The stupid lamp test function wouldnt work half the time and it would just do a dialer disable even though i didnt have one connected. Also what macbook is that? Pro? thinking about 15 inch air bc its 1300 instead of 2500 💀

Are they good panels? My panels transformer also does a thunk
They’re not bad and somewhat easy to work with but are cheaply made and mine has an internal ground issue which seems common on these panels.
Yes they are decent panels, Oliver

Just got the 3 zone panel hooked up
I had a 10 zone fireshield panel, they were great panels, although programming was a pain
Did these panels also come in red or just white?, also in your opinion do you think the genesis or the l series is louder?
L Series
I've got one of those panels in red really want the FS-DACT though
Yeah that would be cool
