I like messi. And i had been saying that the world is a flick of a coin between messi and haaland. But when people glorify messis world cup i just have to ask. How did messi win the balon dor in 2010. Lets start with sneider, yes his g+a were not comparable to messi at all, but in the champions league 3 goals and 6 assist. The only 2 games inter lost in the champions league that hear was against barca when sneijder wasnt playing or was subbed off. And messi had not contributions in that game. He also had games where he made the difference. Inter would have been out if not for a goal and a assist by sneijder in the 2 leg. Barca might have knocked inter out if nit for sneijders goal and assist in the first leg. Now lets talk abt the world cup. 5 goals and a assist compared to messis only assist against mexico. Brazil would have knocked out netherlands if not for 2 goals by sneijder. If not for a goal against slovokia or uruguay Netherlands would have to go to penalty. Even when you were talking about the mexico goal that saved Argentina from going out of the tournament, there were so many other more clutch goals, for example in South Korea v Portugal when South Korea advanced to Ro16. If any random player scored that goal against mexico, he wouldn't be praised that much. It's just fans' bias. Haaland may not be a big game player but he was consistently performing throughout the season, and getting Man City the champions league for the first time in their history. He broke so many records, while Messi just won the world cup (obviously someone has to win it, doesn't mean they're the best in the world that year) with 3 non-penalty goals. Yes, he got 3 assists too, but that's what he does. That's what he didn't do for psg tho, and got booed and fined and kicked out of the club. He might be the goat of football but not of that year.
