    Such a peaceful video again. Thank you.
    As an elderly woman who loves gardening, the easiest way to dig a hole is to drench the soil for an hour or two beforehand. It turns a backbreaking job into something ridiculously easy. Of course it won't soften rocks lol.

    • @deeoh3708
      @deeoh3708 Рік тому +21

      As another older gardener, I totally agree with you. Also another trick is when you do get a bit of a hole dug, keep filling it with water... and wait, let the water do the softening for you. Sorry you have such rocky ground though.

    A fun tipp: Next time you make a boring flooring (I always find it exciting to see it growing) - place the icecream pot in the middle of the room, on the finished wood, and allow yourself to have a spoon whenever you come across that point with new boards. ;) Than it is a task super quick done and you have more enjoyment with it.

    Seeing you work along side your Mum really makes me miss my Mum. I'm sure they are so proud of all you have accomplished and how brave you are. I am 62 but this is the first time I have ever lived alone. Kids are all grown and moved on to their lives :) I bought an old rundown mobile home and reno'ed it over the last 12 years, mostly myself and using UA-cam. Was 62 enjoyed toiling 3 yrs, then babysat 2 grandkids, now 17 & 14. I painted every inch etc, love finally relaxing in old lounger watching my huge cat rolling on lawn!! Your film making & editing skills are excellent. I enjoy your content and you are lovely and very likeable but overall I am amazed at how much effort you put in to get the footage. Place the camera here, then place it there (the fading in & out of you doing the floor), then put the drone up and film from this angle, then switch to that angle. Really inspirational stuff. Well done, credit where credit is due 👍

    The reason for the baseboard is to cover the small gap one should leave between flooring and wall to allow for the wood to expand and contract...which it will do seasonally. so if you don't remove the baseboard, and you lay the boards tightly up against it, you run the risk of your floor boards buckling or cracking.

    What a nice place, what a lovely company! Just please be aware of all the moose, roe deers, rabbits & whatnot who have already marked down in their notebooks the new young fruit trees and will surely make a move on them as the winter advances ... Even mice would love to gnaw the young peel under a layer of snow. I have lost several young trees in my life, i still feel some pain when it comes to mind. But as you seem to be much more careful and neater person than me, you probably already have a solution to this peril. 💚💚💚

    Seeig that fallen birch tree and the big logs I would use couple of them as bench seats around a campfire. You can peel the bark and let the logs dry under a loose tarpaulin to keep them dry, and next summer they would be nice seats in the garden 😊 All those stones that were dug up from your orchard would be useful in creating a firepit. Gravel underneath and around it and it wouldn't be a fire hazard. In the summer evenings nothing beats sitting around a campfire. The smoke keeps the mosquitos away 😅

    The house we bought once had so many fruit trees, all grown up, a mature garden. For some reason, the previous owners just cut everything down and the whole plot was just a big grass lawn when we moved in several years ago... So incredibly boring. Slowly we are planting in trees again. I found it a bit more rewarding to buy a few fruit trees that actually already had a bit of age, 6 y/o, when they were delivered last year. Because they are bearing fruit this year already. 🥰 While the very first apple tree we planted 9 years ago took a good few years before yielding anything.

    • @Farlig69
      @Farlig69 Рік тому +4

Initially, I didn’t recognize the damage, if not killing of the tree, that rabbits can do. Fortunately, I acted quickly and the pear and apple survived.

    It was so lovely to see you work in your garden with your Mom. Clearly, you inherited your stamina, strength and determination from her. I grow Zinnias from seed in my garden. They keep blooming throughout the summer and fall. I think you may find them easy to grow around the perimeter of your home or guest house. Keep up the great work!

    As a mom of two great adults, I enjoy watching them make their homes. You can see what they value by what they finish with live. Love the outdoor seating.

    My dear, I admire your perseverance in this project of yours. BUT also, please tell your mother that I also admire her for doing a lot of really big tasks to help her daugter. Digging holes for trees here... but also in an other video I saw of you, digging your drain kitchen water trenches (if I remember well few months ago... Man, what a mother you have! Way to go wonder mom! You are both inspirationnal. Thanks for sharing your project on videos.

    The green top in the video preview looks so good on you. It contrasts very nicely with your skin tone and red hair.

    When this video started I was wondering when your parents would visit. How nice to see they made it in this video - what a nice treat for all of you.
    aI too have used a tent in the yard or on the front porch when we have had an an abundance of quests. Younger folk really love the idea of tent sleeping.
    Have an enjoyable visit.

    So good to see the floor come together. Oh to be young again and have your energy and talents. I envy you. In my next life I hope to live in another country. In a small Finnish cabin. I love Finland. Am visiting for the summer in Joensuu. You are doing such a beautifully job. Your home is lovely. So good to see your mom and I was wondering about your dad and then there he was. Enjoy your outside garden furniture and area. ❤
