Lol, don't worry. Basically, a great battle of the keyblades is about to happen in KH3. KH 2.8 is the intro to KH3 by explaining why everything is how it is (darkness, heartless, etc.), hence why it's called "Prologue." Another fun thing why its called 2.8 is because if you add 0.2 (which you can see 0:45) and 2.8 it's sum equals 3, which can only mean KH3.

This might just be the best trailer ever produced in the history of the franchise. Dream Drop Distance was remastered exceptionally well, and that dialogue with Sora was just so powerful with Passion playing in the background. 0.2 _A Fragmentary Passage_ , Nomura didn't just treat us with the reveal of Aqua's face, but gameplay, character interactions, new heartless, and a STUNNING environment. And JUST when the music kicks up, we wee this HUGE heartless snake-tornado--so excited to battle against it! Now with KH: Chi - Back Cover...The voice acting. THE VOICE ACTING IN BACK COVER. It's so good! Ephemera is adorable, and the hooded figure is incredibly interesting. "Isn't it our duty as Keyblade weilders to prevent this war from taking place?" "Nah, not possible" What a perfect trailer. Game devs, take note: this is how you hype up an entire community of passionate Kingdom Hearts fans.

This trailer's pretty good, but I'd still give it to the Gamescom 2010 trailer for Birth by Sleep. It had seven(!) minutes of new footage and information. I remember thinking how spoiled we were for getting that trailer

Not to mention that they spent an equal amount of time on each part of 2.8. About a minute on Dream Drop Distance, about a minute on A Fragmentary Passage and about a minute on Back Cover, instead of filling the trailer with things we'd already seen before.

So to preface, I know Kingdom Hearts Lore almost obsessively. So knowing that this is essentially the beginning of the Keyblade Wars and probably a few other things relevant to current events in the story, I am going to say something that I have never said about the story in Kingdom Hearts...

tank stephens Fragmentary Passage has not ever been a game before. It's entirely new and is a sequel to Aqua's roam through the Realm of Darkness. What you could have missed though is the bonus of Final Mix that has Aqua battle lots of Heartless and travel through the Realm of Darkness as it was a secret unlock of BBS FM. Fragmentary Passage is basically a sequel to that.

I don't think it's exactly fair to blame Nomura on literally every single thing related to Kingdom Hearts. Yes, he's the series' director and is in charge of the overall arching story of the series, but he isn't literally the cause of everything that happens.
With KHX, I highly doubt he had much involvement as far as "Oh, how many quests are we gonna make" or "How many microtransactions are we gonna have." I'm pretty sure his involvement was just in the concept of the game, approving gameplay ideas, and developing the over-arching story.
If you don't want to play a game then why not watch it. That takes about as much time as any other KH game and it has just as much "filler." Stop complaining.
+Dboy733 It literally took one of my friends back in the early PS2 days maybe 20 hours to beat KH2. The handheld games are about as long, but that's usually because they have some dick move padding(missions in 358/2 with no purpose, three stories+final in BBS, pointless portal wandering in Re:Coded, the drop meter in 3D).
Plus, there's an obligatory energy meter on KH X because it's a free game and all free games share that time wasting formula. Not to mention the quests ramp up in difficulty and you're gonna have to grind on other quests to beat them which takes more energy which takes more time.
500 quests is probably going to cross 200 hours because of how fast enemies scale in difficulty after quest 200 or so and waiting for all of your stupid energy.
I'm more excited about this than KH3, because Aqua > Sora.

Who wants those straightforward scrub titles like Doom, Destiny, Overwatch, Halo, Uncharted or Fallout? They are so simple, anyone could have just opened the dictionary and randomly picked a word. Long story:
Kingdom Hearts was first released on PS2, it became so popular that a new special edition was released called final mix, however that version was only released in Japan. The PS3 1.5 Remix has Final Mix as well as updated graphics for it.

I can explain. The Vulpus head was Ava, one of the 5 Foretellers. Unlike the others, she have a greater role in X Chi (PC in Japan) and Unchained X (Mobile version of the same story). The boy with the red scarf was Emphera, a keyblade user who cooperated with Ava to ensure the survival of the children and wielders from the Keyblade war.
I believe Emphera might have an important role in Kingdom Hearts 3 as he was the one who ensures the survival of the keyblade wielders and children who recreates the world. My guess is that he will appear as a form of memories to tell the truth about the Keyblade War.
Anyone else get the feeling that the MoM is probably the main villain after KH3? Seeing as how he kinda started everything, what with giving all of his Foretellers except one a piece of the future.
I'm barely getting into the Kingdom Hearts series. Damn I still need to finish 1.5 I'm really close. Then start 2.5. Then at least have some knowledge of the other games because I am very confused as to who were most of the Characters.

If you want to understand what's going on you should play the others first. If you don't care about story then just play this, KH games are really fun.

On Ps3 there are 2 collections each have 2 games and 1 cut scene compilation from the handheld games called KH 1.5 and KH 2.5. If you ever manage to get a ps3 just get those 2 collections and you'll be caught up.

Apparently, Xbox is killing Square Enix regarding their Japanese games when Hashimoto and Nomura have to say in interviews last year that they want to spread more PS4's and give gamers a reason to buy one, hence the reason they haven't announced a Japanese game for Xbox since E3 2014 with Type-0 HD and continue to announce new games exclusively for PS to this day. If you actually follow the market, this would be common sense. No one who likes Japanese games would only own an Xbox console.
Just in case you bring up the "I can only afford one console" or whatever similar to that...you can't have everything in life.

They didn't realize how much of a failure Xbox was going to be, for Japan. Both in regards to western sales of Japanese games, or Japanese interest in the console. They announced FF15 and KH3 for XB1 before these consoles came out remember.
Cometmoon448 Yes, releasing KH3 on Xbox One is stupid from a vision perspective when Nomura stated in September 2012 that he wants to release all the games on one console before KH3 released. so players could know the story. This has been reiterated by co-director Tai Yasue at E3 2014 when talking about 2.5 and by Nomura in September when 2.8 was announced. But 2015-2016 is a different time from 2013 from management perspective. They know what is profitable and what isn't.
there is one simple reason 2.8 isn't being released on Xbox it's because of the dream drop distance remake, you need a touchpad too play it, and the Xbox 1 doesn't have a touchpad while the PlayStation 4 does

To clear up things, the official Japanese page says that KHUX takes place a little over 100 years before BBS. So Xehanort being alive by that time is out.
As someone who played through every game in the series (I ended up getting every game at once) it's honestly surprising how many people have only played Kh 1 and 2. This is what happens when you have your series jump from console to console
Ya I mean it was on PS2 first... then all of the sudden it jumped to the Game Boy Advance system... then the DS system.... then after that it jumped to the PSP theeeeen it jumped to the freakin 3DS and now its on PS3 so im not really surprised people would be confused.... even though I own all these consoles and played all the games originally, and not just the remixes...

David Timmer to an extent though.... you still can't really play 358/2 days and re-coded on them but watch the re-masted cutscenes, but they did make new cutscenes for them becuase in the game they only had about half the amount the HD remix cutscenes had since the rest was just text based story in the game.
I'm really hyped about playing 2.8 HD remix... even though I did play like dream drop distance to 100% on my 3DS but whatever, I can put in another 30+ hours or so.

So, like everyone else I fell in love with kingdom hearts 1 and 2 when we all played it on the ps2. But it took SO long for 3 to be released and they literally beat KH to death with remakes, remasters, remixes and games on every platform that I lost interested. I grew up and completely forgot about kingdom hearts.
Remixes are basically collections of games
That's a hell of a way to look at things..! Nah, I like to think that SQUENIX was trying to help us relive those past memories of the PS2, so that way we could keep all the emotions fresh in our minds, all in order to feel that much better about KH3 and any other releases.. Mouthful, huh?
The ReMIXes are Remasters are a way to get us all hype for KH3 again and for us to get play the Final Mix games which only Japan got, which in Final Mix explains a lot more story
