This is a beautiful song and a brilliant version. This song is very complex and ND is effortless in this version. The emotion is just raw and breath taking.
Most beautiful Neil Diamond song ever. As a French Horn player, all I can think of is the feeling, trauma, and expression of that young boy on those, “Brooklyn Roads.” I love anyone who can make me feel that like Neil does.
What I've always considered to be Mr. Diamond's absolute masterpiece. This song came out the year I left home, too young. I could relate in a primal way to the story he relates in the song. It captures so perfectly the nostalgia that many look back with, and ponder memories of formative times in their lives. This forgotten little gem lives on though. It was never the big bright brassy thing that so many other hits (some belonging to him) were. But no matter. Its brilliance still shines, and ever so humble, it remains solid and comforting. My roads were not in Brooklyn, but every town and city has its own collection.
If I close my eyes I can almost hear my mother Callin', "Neil, go find your brother Daddy's home, and it's time for supper Hurry on" And I see two boys Racin' up two flights of staircase Squirmin' into Papa's embrace And his whiskers warm on their face Where's it gone Oh, where's it gone Two floors above the butcher First door on the right Life filled to the brim As I stood by my window And I looked out of those Brooklyn Roads I can still recall The smells of cookin' in the hallways Rubbers drying in the doorways And report cards I was always Afraid to show Mama'd come to school And as I'd sit there softly crying Teacher'd say, "He's just not trying He's got a good head if he'd apply it" But you know yourself It's always somewhere else I built me a castle With dragons and kings And I'd ride off with them As I stood by my window And looked out on those Brooklyn Roads Thought of going back But all I'd see are stranger's faces And all the scars that love erases But as my mind walks through thoses places I'm wonderin' What's come of them Does some other young boy Come home to my room Does he dream what I did As he stands by my window And looks out on those Brooklyn Roads Brooklyn Roads

Is that the chair he sang to in I Am I Said? Maybe this shoot inspired the song? JK. I’m so grateful my dad bought some Neil Diamond albums when I was in grade school, I remember how exciting it was watching Love at the Greek on prime time TV. It was similar to watching Elvis’ Aloha concert, it felt a little more intimate somehow. Been a fan of both all my life. Diamond’s songs speak to me in different ways as I age. I always come back to them, and always reflect on who I was then vs now in some unique way. I’ll get in jags where I listen to hours and hours of Neil days in a row - especially when highly stressed. Something in it reminds me who I am, prior to all the things I’ve let define me in my ego head. He is such a singular artist, I feel so lucky to have heard the great 70’s songwriters growing up, they were the real f-ing deal. Without the beauty and inspiration of that music, I can’t imagine how my soul could have even survived. It still helps me every day.
Neil Diamond was in 1977, four days on Tour in Netherland.there were problems with the Hammond organ (110 Volt America-Europe 220 Volt) I'm approached by Lou van Rees Management for a solution to my Hammond Rent. After four days I got my B3 Hammond returned with Fire spots of Cigarettes. It frustrated me.They have me removed me from the Neil Diamond Fan Club because I had this listed on their site.Never Apology of Neil Diamond ;-(
When I was a kid, he looked old. Now he looks like a young guy!

Love this song so much!
What a a find. Fab.
If I close my eyes
I can almost hear my mother
Callin', "Neil, go find your brother
Daddy's home, and it's time for supper
Hurry on"
And I see two boys
Racin' up two flights of staircase
Squirmin' into Papa's embrace
And his whiskers warm on their face
Where's it gone
Oh, where's it gone
Two floors above the butcher
First door on the right
Life filled to the brim
As I stood by my window
And I looked out of those
Brooklyn Roads
I can still recall
The smells of cookin' in the hallways
Rubbers drying in the doorways
And report cards I was always
Afraid to show
Mama'd come to school
And as I'd sit there softly crying
Teacher'd say, "He's just not trying
He's got a good head if he'd apply it"
But you know yourself
It's always somewhere else
I built me a castle
With dragons and kings
And I'd ride off with them
As I stood by my window
And looked out on those
Brooklyn Roads
Thought of going back
But all I'd see are stranger's faces
And all the scars that love erases
But as my mind walks through thoses places
I'm wonderin'
What's come of them
Does some other young boy
Come home to my room
Does he dream what I did
As he stands by my window
And looks out on those
Brooklyn Roads
Brooklyn Roads
Magic, never seen this before
Aquí está realmente hermoso y su voz maravillosa 💕💕💕
