Thanks for the video, I absolutely love this series. If I may, one thing that I think would be rather helpful with this would be a mention of when sets rotate out of the format as new sets arrive. I think it would be really helpful in keeping track of which cards from the past are still around while we see what new material has come along.
What I want to know is why the logo for Legendary collection looks exactly like a Metroid logo.
Facts not mentioned in the vid:
- The Theme Decks contained a 61st card: a random reverse holo from the set. So there was a foil card in the deck.
- Seadra from Fossil was reprinted in this set, but not Horsea.
very cool, didnt know!
I'm confused about the them excluding Horsea! I mean it is not powerful but it has a decent attack that keeps him from easy KOs.
This series is awesome. So informative and entertaining!
I played competitively from 99-06. I remember not liking this set when it came out lol! Upon starting to collect again in 2018, I went through my old cards and came across 8 sealed Legendary Collection packs! The memory came back and I laughed so hard!!! I remember that I went to an small LC release tournament and won, the prize was 8 packs! I just didn't care for them and tossed em in a bin. Now they're my prized possessions!!!
just found these and im glad i did!
liked all the videos and subscribed. Please continue this series!
I love these videos Man!
Totally appreciate the time you out into making these Pokemon tcg set "history".
Fun fact, the Mewtwo from this set was illustrated by the late Christopher Rush who did lots of artwork for MTG. It was the only Pokemon card he did art for.
I have his autograph ❤
This was probably the last pack I brought of wotc, I was a bit sceptical as to their legitimacy at the time too
I didn't know this set existed. This video wasn't nearly as informative but I guess it's about a reprint set. I've been loving hearing about old pokemon sets and in part 16 we should start the ex era with ruby/sapphire, so especially looking forward to that.
this is my favorite series on youtube right now, keep i up :)
I thought the reverse holos were fake also. I didn't treat them with the same care I did my other cards and traded most of the ones I had away. I do have a reverse holo dark Dragonite in excellent condition, which surprised me after I figured out they weren't fake as an adult.
I just found that out today too, and thought the same as a child.
Luckily I kept them in good shape and now realizing the potential value of all my cards
Legendary reverse Holo is Still my favorite card design. Nostalgic of base set with that amazing foil pattern
best poké series on youtube 💯
This is still my favorite Pokemon set! I liked the reverse holos, but they hurt your eyes after a while and were a bit hard to read. the normal type reverse holos being the worse offender lol
I think this was when I started to lose interest in pokemon. your videos really make me wish I still had my old stuff
This was the set where I stopped to play pokemon. Good memories
Great work! I'm binging your videos and having a blast
im late, but im loving and binge watching this series!
About that Misty's Dewgong tech Jason took out the line on his revised version of the Steelix/Muk deck.
If I'm correct there's one neat fact you missed Wossy.
If we take a look at Snorlax from this set. We would see burn under the list of special conditions under poke-power. Burn wasn't released until the Neo era. Which this puzzled player's and added to the confusion of some things being fake.
I enjoyed what little product I bought from this set and still have it to this day. Butterfree finally got a proper rare in this set which made me very happy! Although with some other card's that actually received Holo rare. Like Dark Vaporeon which is my favorite evolution of Eevee to this day.
As reprint set's go this was kinda lack luster. However in the history aspects of the Pokemon tcg this was a amazing set that paved the way for future rev-holo cards generations down the road.
Good video Wossy!!!
Now this set is sought after I would say. There is hype around it cause its scarce.
Hey guys its scarce here
Looking forward to the next part of this series 😀👍😊🙏
5:21 ok, at least I'm not the only one who used to think these were fake!
I’d quit playing around the time of the first or second Neo set, and I never knew about Legendary Collection. I wish I would have. I would’ve gotten back into buying cards at that time.
When this set dropped copped a box or two. Opened countless base set and some base set two. At the time I wasnt supper into a 3rd reprint. But man wish I would of grabbed more.
I remembered this set too I too was disappointed. The thing is when this was released all Pokemon Leagues near me were all gone by then. I'm not sure if this was the set that prevented players anymore but it sure wasn't well received. I never liked the reverse holos because they looked cheap and looked like one of those Pokemon peel-off stickers set. I lost interest in playing because the leagues near me were all gone. I didn't get back into the game until Black & White came out.
If that Mr. Mime was reprinted today, it would be too good. Pikarom, Eturnatus VMax, Centiscorch VMax, All shut down.
Awesome series!
Are you going to do the Japanese only sets too, like the Vending sheets (Extended Series) or the Vs. Series?
Will you also cover the Vending Series and Vs. in this series?
Why would you ever consider considering the best set?
MOAR!!
the problem at the time was that those reverse holos did look very similar to cheap fake holo stickers that were available, it made me avoid the set like the plague. Really wish I hadn't.
Let's keep this going!
I can givd these videos a like before I see them
Cause I know it be 🔥
for some reason I don't remember people liking the reverse holo when the set first released. but now I see they're the most expensive cards in the set. Is my memory just incorrect?
All the other kids told me I was scammed when I bought a reverse holo mewtwo at the local fair. Jokes on them cause I still have it
Continue!!
Only thing i can remember about this set is owning a reverse holo Tentacool and reverse holo Geodude
hope your covering mini sets like pop series and WEB set vening machine set from japan :)
Not to be that guy, but this wasn't the first time we saw reverse holos. We saw them in the Southern Islands Collection and the Pichu and Entei cards that were given out for the 3rd Pokemon Movie. Of course, I'd argue those ones looked much better, since they were based on the much more subtle Japanese Reverse holo pattern. I don't know what vision problems Wizard's card designer has, but holy crap were these things were so obnoxious. I've always hated them and quickly sell them off whenever I stumble upon one.
If this set made it to the UK, I sure as hell don't remember it.
This was not even close to a success. When this set came out, it was hated my numerous people due to what they put back into the game and how god awful the reverse foils were. I liked the personally but I know that several people quit the game around this time as several felt they were running out of ideas and the game got stale. This was the beginning of the major part of the games history where the game was on a respirator.
I thought they were fake too, but thats because they sold stickers of them in crank machines
I also thought the reverse holos were fake as a kid :(
I’ve always hated this set, more reprints with ugly reverse holos. I never bought a single pack back in the day.
i also thougt that this set was fake :P
This would be considered last or final edition. Last print run.
