I had a splendid visit there. Such an improvement on the previous museum at Mile End. Thank you for reviving the memories.
Cheers again Bruce, a great museum indeed
The Hilltop Hoods used the Cafeteria car to shoot the film clip to their song "1955"
Love their song Stopping All Stations
UK COMMENT. Just tuned in to have a look, as expected an excellent production. You are setting the bar high in showing the way to promote the preservation world. ( You should sell your services )
Such high praise mate, thank you very much! I’m happy to do it for free as these places should save their month for preservation efforts 😊
I visited the museum myself for the first time last month in November, and I was blown away at how big the museum was, even thought I could only spend a limited amount of time there I still learnt so much and saw so much! I didnt realise that the semaphore signal was an interactive exhibit and didn’t know that the 500 class was used for shunting. Thank you for sharing!
There’s many surprises in there, glad you got to visit 😎
@@KanesTrains yeah, although sadly there was no full size train ride as it looked like Jacketts siding has been closed off for the metro rework, still an awesome visit though
@@AustralianRailwayVideos yeah, it’s usually only during special events - hopefully business as usual once all the works are done
@@KanesTrains oh right, ok
And yeah hopefully
Another gr8 video mate, my fav loco is, 930, & the Lady Norrie,
Cheers Lyall! Lady Norrie is a looker, imagine getting her back in running condition!
Was back in February of 2018 seeing this at Port Adelaide with my Mum seeing Relatives at Semaphore from there to going out for a day to this groovy museum to the light Mimiature Railway ,From a train Journey from Sydney to Adelaide on the Mammoth Indian Pacific that took us there 🛤️🚅 ,Hard to believe we were on that for 23 and a half hours ,Love this beautiful museum and seeing the Aviation musum 🛩️✈️to the Maritime Museum⚓ also coming from Scotland 🏴 to OZ 🦘🇦🇺❤️❤️❤️❤️
I never knew about this. I must come to South Australia and visit the museum.
Thanks very much for your video. It's was so interesting!
Спасибо
I’m from Victoria and it is amazing
Cheers! Newport is great too, I’m glad the museum there is getting more and more cover 😎
its certainly worth a visit tats for sure, thanks for sharing

I ❤ 🚂🚃 trains 🚄 🚅 trams 🚈🚞
take a ride, I have a folder on ''transportation''
(folder 4) I think you will love them too :)
Thanks :)
Wouldn't mind visiting one day. Looks like a storm or something flashing behind building at the 7.50 mark.
I think it was an audio glitch 😅
Visual*
I did work experience there and was fortunate enough to repair some of "bub's" (little train ride) line. Was a cool place and unlucky for me there wasn't any 2000 class jumbos
That’s cool as :)
the 504 reminds me somewhat of a Southern Pacific locomotive from my home country...maybe its the silver smokebox idk
The Commisioner of the railways who ordered them was William Webb, who was an American and had previously been manager of the Katy Railroad and brought over best practice from the USA, including their style locomotives.
Good video, like!
Thank you kindly 😎
Are you kidding? I lived near Port Adelaide for years and didn’t know this joint existed.
Definitely worth checking it out mate :)
Thank you for the video. Very great and enjoyable video. and as my favourite trains are redhen 321 and 400 and bluebird, 257 as both of them are extremely unique and interesting and budcar CB1
A few changes since I was there last.... The DMU that I rode to Port Dock in the 1990's now appears to be an exhibit 😊
It’s amazing how quickly the present becomes the past! I think age will finally hit me when I see an NR on display 😳
Very good!
Thank you! Cheers!
Great video! Thanks, Kane.
Thanks! Trying to find the energy to put a little more effort in!
@@KanesTrainsdoing a great job. I reckon the cafeteria car is the location for the Hilltop Hoods 2016 music video for their track '1955'. Crazy stuff!
@@Outdoorstype it certain is! There is a follow up video for it shot there as well, not sure if it’s released yet though 😎
If only we had that kinda budget...
@@Outdoorstype my budget is in the negatives 😅
i have bean ther alot over they years and this vidio defently covers a good chunk of the best bits there.
As an ex volutthere, my fav loco, 930
Great call!
Very infomative! Very professional
Thanks mate! I’d say semi-professional more than anything 😅
@@KanesTrains nah. Extremely professional!
Good 😊
Cheers 😎
Very impressive. Would be great to see something like this in Queensland.
That would be cool!
You already have it. It's called Ipswich Workshops.
Great video ✌️
Cheers :)
will you make a video on the new station down there when that is finished?
If that’s of interest 😎
GM2 AND THE LITTLE TRAIN
A good overview mate. What was the 700 diesel locomotive doing in the goods shed?
They recently acquired that one, it will be restored to operational condition :)
at 4:45, you mention that the former vr n class is your favourite loco. a good choice of course, the vr built very handsome locos. does your choice indicate that you are a victorian who now lives in another state. i was born a victorian but now live in wa. wa never had big glorious steam locos. as for my favourite at this place, the 500 class is an impressive beast.
Very good question! I’m actually Adelaide born and raised, although my mother is from Victoria. I think it purely comes down to the aesthetic of the 750 class. The 500 is certainly a sight to behold!
@@KanesTrains , i came from a railway family. dad was a riveter at newport workshops then a fireman and driver. he helped build heavy harry. thats why my interest started. but also, the vr was always looking out for ways to modify and improve their locos. not so much in other states. but sa did add a booster engine to the 500 class. and vr experimented with boosters, the first one being attached to an n class. all mainline locos should have had a booster installed, as far as i'm concerned.
its a shame we cant have something like this in western australia, its embarrassing . This looks very nice though!
The one in WA does look pretty good, hopefully in time funding can be secured for some upgrades 😎
It's called the Australian National Railway Museum, does that mean railway systems from other states are well represented? If not, it's a bit of a misnomer.
it’s just the National Railway Museum. They have examples of engines and rolling stock that have ran in Western Australia, South Australia, Northern Territory, Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria. Once they procure an 830 they’ll have an example of an engine type that has ran in Tasmania as well.
